    Interesting and easy way to turn a 2 handed opening knife into a one handed. Thanks for sharing the product as well as the caution. Thanks for putting link in description.

    It completely changes the Buck 110. Now they need a kwik pocket clip and it will make it a 100% modern knife.

    I swear by them and think they're the bee's knees. I have one on my Opinel, on a couple Rough Ryders and on my Miguel Nieto Campaña, a folder just slightly smaller than the Buck 110. Love 'em!

    I'm surprised they don't offer a few options for different blade stocks. Thanks for sharing.

    • @GearedTowardGear1
      @GearedTowardGear1  4 роки тому +1

      Thanks for watching! It will work on any thickness of blade stock, it just wont be quite as solid. I mean, it won’t move, and I doubt it would be an issue - the only downside is you’re be able to visibly see the gap and the set screw on a thin blade. It would be wise I think if they offered a “mini” version.

    And this is why the aftermarket exists-for customizing well-made products that do better as a base as opposed to incorporating the customization directly into the design from the onset.

  • @AverageDE
    @AverageDE 4 роки тому

    For me, the best part is that you can adjust where the thumbstud is on your blade. If a knife comes with a thumbstud, you likely can't adjust the height.

    Really cool. Do you recommend this for steel Will or civivi knives that are flippers but don’t have thumb studs? I prefer opening with the thumb studs over the flipper

    • @GearedTowardGear1
      @GearedTowardGear1  4 роки тому

      Yeah absolutely. It should work great for those knives. They aren’t quite as thick as far as the blade but it should still function just fine.

  • @jagainst
    @jagainst 4 роки тому

    Hi Sean. I have one of these on a QSP Worker knife and it is functional. However, I can't get the thumb stud to sit "level" once the set screw is tightened down. The force of the screw against the blade pushes the screw side of the stud out and then up so that the stud sits cockeyed. I hope I'm making sense. Do you have that issue on any of the knives you have used it on? Thanks.

    • @GearedTowardGear1
      @GearedTowardGear1  4 роки тому

      Hey what’s up Jay! Thanks for watching brother. What a great knife to use one of these on! What you’re saying makes perfect sense and I can totally picture it. I’ve not encountered that issue. I wish I had so I could provide you with a better answer than “I don’t know 🤷🏻‍♂️”, but I can’t think of a fix. Is the amount of force that is causing it to rise up and sit cockeyed required? In other words could you loosen it slightly, just enough to sit level, add some loctite and have the stud stay in place? Or is that level of force required to keep it in place?

    • @jagainst
      @jagainst 4 роки тому

      @@GearedTowardGear1 Unfortunately, it becomes cockeyed with even the slightest amount of pressure from tightening the screw. I understand the mechanics involved as the cause and effect--it makes sense, I just don't understand why the problem would exist on a certain knife and not on others. Oh, well. Thanks for responding. I enjoy your videos. Take care.

    I’m going to be that guy. If I ever take it off, will it mark up the blade?

    • @GearedTowardGear1
      @GearedTowardGear1  4 роки тому +1

      Hey that’s a totally fair question. Yes, it will leave a mark where the set screw hits the blade. My intention with these is as a permanent fixture, but long term it you changed your mind or wanted to swap to another knife it would leave a mark, albeit a small one.
