The drone filmed its own "death"! (And hung in a tree all winter.)

  • I was going to record drone footage of a place in southern Norway where an English transport plane was shot down in the spring of 1945, as World War II was in its final phase.
My drone wasn’t shot down, but I was inattentive. The drone didn’t have obstacle sensors, and before I knew it, it crashed into a towering birch tree!
I had no choice but to head home without the drone and put the remote control on the shelf.
After the Norwegian winter, with its massive snowfall, had passed, I went back to check if the drone had fallen from the tree. I found it on the ground. It appeared undamaged, but I couldn’t get it to work.
However, the memory card was intact, acting like a “black box” containing the footage of the drone’s final journey - right before it crashed into the tree and remained there all winter.
I immediately bought a new drone - this time with sensors to avoid crashes!
