You are fantastic. I got rid of all the other tutorials. Was getting overwhelmed! I only have yours now! Calming voice, and so easily explained. I'm really happy I found you!
How stimulating your work is! I usually look at your demo in bed before falling asleep, and the following morning, I hurry up doing my chores so that I can at last make a try, having your demo still fresh on my mind😉. Thank you ever so much! Nicky.
Top drawer painting Lois - it is such a joy to watch you paint these semi abstract watercolours. As others have said, your soothing, calming nature is a bonus - you know just what to say to reassure the timid soul! Thank you 🙂
I love watching your work and trying to follow it (at least following the same process). You make it look so easy and natural. It's a level of competence that we all aspire to
Thanks so much for sharing this Lois! This was extremely helpful. I've been so tense and the thought of creating a piece of work stressed me out. Like you said, this is great stress relief and amazing way of warming up.
Thanks for bringing this demo back… I had not seen it before….and it is truly an inspiration for me to get back to painting!!! I have been away from doing watercolor’s for months now…having a new puppy …then the holidays…and it seems the longer I let it go …the more difficult to get into it! Love to see you do more of these “warm ups”. …JERILY from NJ
Happy New Year Lois! Thank you for your all tutorials you made last year! I'm sure there will be 100 thousand subscribers this month. :) Happy New Year to Morgaine too! When I saw the first image of this video, it took my breath away. I will definitely practice to get the same result.
I must learn how to swish my wetting brush as you do, seemingly randomly and leaving patches of unwetted paper which gives you dramatic white patches. My paper dries so quickly in our arid climate that l must re-wet constantly, and the amount of H2O you use at first would be gone before l finished my first colour application. Or as you say, it's likely simply a matter of practice (on really expensive paper, gah!). I'd spend every cent of a lottery winning on Arches paper, *if* l ever bought a lottery ticket. Lovely as always, and l much prefer limited palettes - Indigo, Paynes, Siennas and Umbers rock.
I dont see how anyone can say what exactly they'll be painting. You know that is never accurate. But its a nice painting needs tiny bit of a dark blue, reds with all the black in it.
With respect, I don’t agree with you 😊. Lois stressed at the beginning that she never knows exactly what she’s going to get with this sort of loose abstract painting. It evolves naturally, helped along by her experienced eye, tipping and salting etc. The beauty of this painting is that the wonderful effect was achieved with only two colours, and the point of that was to free oneself up if feeling a bit stuck, or in the throws of 'painter’s block'. Adding blue and red would, in my opinion anyway, muddy things up and take away the freshness. However, I know Lois would be the first to say 'use whatever colours you feel happy with'……so your suggestions would be fine, for you.

Thank you! 😊
Thank you so much, love the way this turned out. I received some hake brushes for Christmas and I’m going to try this with them! 🤞
Have fun!

Many thanks! Try wetting the back of your paper first if you live in a dry climate. 😊
That was quick! I shall try, and many thanks back. ❤
