I just heard this song on a mix, and I've been searching to learn whee this band was from.. This signer is beyond awesome, and I cannot believe this song didn't chart and chart big.
Sorry for the typos in the earlier message, which I posted late at night, right after I heard the song. Since then I learned that The Outer Limits was from Los Cruses, NM. I spoke with a gentleman at the Los Cruses Sun Newspaper who remembered the group. He said that the band performed locally, mostly at high-school events, and to his knowledge this was the extent of the group's reach. I'm unable to find out anything further regarding this band's lead singer, whom the reporter said was Jim Westbrook (I'll add that this Jim Westbrook is absolutely not the artist by the same name with Little Big Town). I had initially tried the band's record label, Goldust, for which remarkably a phone number was still listed. However, the line was out of service. So, for me, it's of enormous mystery as to how a voice as pure--and in my opinion as unique--as Jim Westbrook's could ever have slipped under the radar. I consider this fellow a true lyricist, and it's a real shame he and The Outer Limits were never discovered. Although I've rambled on and on, Wow! is all that really needs to be said.
@@robertlbacon472 Wow. Just wow. I recently found out from my grandfather about Jim Westbrook and The Outsiders. My grandfather, Jerry Bachman, was the drummer for the band. I had a long conversation with him about this group and he shared with me many stories about the band and his time with them. I’ve done a deep search on the internet and I think it’s a crying shame there isn’t more history provided about this group. According to my grandfather Jim Westbrook was a real heartthrob in the New Mexico area (Las Cruces). And he was sought after in the area for his talent. I’m filled with sadness and the sense of a missed opportunity looking back on the hidden history of this group. I’ll answer any questions I can. I’m still sort of shocked by this whole discovery and I never heard in detail about this little piece of New Mexican history until just recently
If you really want to go today, I'll say goodbye, There's no use for me to stay at home, alone and crying. I'll go out and have fun, you know you're not the only one, If you really want to go today, I'll say goodbye. Yes you told me we were thru, it's done, but you lied Cause you know as well as I, you love me, deep inside. I don't believe a word you say and I don't think you'll go away. If you really want to go today, I'll say goodbye. Yes you told me we were thru, we're done, but you lied Cause you know as well as I, you love me, deep inside. I love this song, I heard it about 2006...had a playlist with this and a faded picture by the seeds in it and lots of other songs I can't seem to remember
Imagine a young generation who rejects all of this bs. That's me. I'm working on waking up my fellow brothers and sisters and it's not an easy task. Too many people standing on the side afraid to voice their opinions.
Alan, I recently had a delightful, long conversation with Emmitt Brooks, who owned and operated Goldust Records back in the '60s. He said that "Alone and Crying" was released as a single. I was hoping he had an original 45 he'd sell me, but no such luck. With his great voice, I can't understand how the lead singer, Jim Westerbook, never became a star. Maybe some people in the industry thought he did sound too much like Roky or Buddy or Sky. No matter, I'm of the opinion he should have been a star in his own right.
I found this on double r bar And I like it smmmm TYyyy
I am from korea. I am listening this garage rock and crying....
Imagine what the music genre would look like had the Outer Limits rose to popularity

@@theloganbachman07 I’d bet a lot of people would be very happy to see the Outer Limits and all of their songs be reissued on a record.

Definitely hear shades of Bobby goldsboro here. Rog. Pacific sunset records.
Sounds like "It's Only Love" by The Beatles in the chorus.
Jimmy Dale Gilmore?
And a little Gene Pitney
And to haunting worldwide the cutouts in characteristics on the train and on a roller skates and on the door and on the string and the shoelace
Sounds like Roky Erickson on vocals
Sounds a little Gene Pitney

A great hit
Roky Erickson and à little bit Pavlov Dog

This must be an incredibly rare record. I can't even find anything stating it exists anywhere on the internet
Trying to sound British . . . eh. (wrong picture of record)
I am sure this was a British Band.
