The canoe!
To the entry
The canoe!
To the berth
The canoe!
Up to the resting place,
Set it down.
The canoe! Yeah!
Hi Mr Ashley good on you for helping others learn Maaori culture thanks for the effort. One small supporting comment at 3.07 listen to the way you say takotoranga. It is pronounced takoto (ta(caw)to) not takato. Hope that makes sense :)
Vickie Kahu Pukoro totally makes sense, thanks for the heads up!! As many times as I have watched this I have missed that mispronunciation every time!!! I’m going to pin your comment because it is an important amendment. Thanks heaps!!! Thanks for the feedback hope you enjoy my other content

Thanks!
Aloha Mr. Ashley,
I was wondering if you could write the words that prepare the group for the haka? I want to make sure that I teach my students properly. We will be using this haka and Toia Mai te Waka in our May Day program. Mahalo for making a great tutorial.
Kia Ora Deborah, sorry for the late response, still on school holidays here in Aotearoa NZ. The opening verse is (leader) hei runga, hei raro. (Group) he ha, he ha. Repeat this twice before starting actual haka. I feel it works good if the leader increase their volume from the first to the second repeat if that makes sense. Please let me know how you get on, I’m happy to answer anymore questions
