When I first played this. I spent a good 30 minutes trying to figure out how to engage the first colossus. The game made you appear so fragile that I never would have thought climbing it would even be a possibility, let alone encouraged. The moment I took the risk to just run at the colossus and grab stands today as one of my most cherished gaming memories. Discovering a game mechanic rather than it being told to me and using that mechanic throughout the game just felt breath taking... ( I know the voice probably tells you after some time but I clearly was too young and awe struck by the lumbering giant to even notice)
Raymond V.M i know what you mean. i try to not look for quick guide with this game.. but soon.. after spending an hr with no clue at certain stage... i have to look for the guide. would be amazing if one can finish the game solving all the puzzle alone.
Is quite sad about that latest Game (with the DOG/Cat God thing) There was a big fuss before its release.... as they spent like 10 yrs in the making... but after it was released... is just happen to be a massive fail.... such a big disappointment... for all the fans.
I spent the first 30 minutes trying to find the first collosus and when we (played it with friends) finally found it we charged it to just give it a hit out of anger and discovered we could climb it :P (after that we died tho)
I love this game. I’d recommend to avoid all spoilers and walkthroughs, as it’s all about honing your skills, getting a ‘feel’ for your character and discovering the weaknesses and controls of each colossi. It’s extremely finely gauged, you get stronger as you progress, and the seemingly impossible eventually becomes simple. The replay value is enormous and it has tons of little mini games, too.
The battle with the sand dragon was for me the most epic of the game , and look at that graphics omg .If you never played the ps2 version this is the best way to discover this masterpiece
Jack Baratte I never played the original but to most people it's still regarded as one of the best games of all time, I'm playing it once the remake is out
I've always wanted to play this. The way everyone keeps saying it's one of the greatest games ever made, gets me even more pumped up for it. I preordered the Special Edition. It's only 10 dollars more, looked worth it. I love steel cases. =)
I mean, what is pointless here is your argument. You don't argue against a new console, when this game can be played in every PS4 system. SOTC is very special to me, but cmon
I remember the glory of play this game when I was just a teenage boy, i cried with the ending part of this game. It's a piece of visual art and now looks eons better than nothing.
Kauã Nunes Maia 2 of the bosses are exactly the same, it doesn't tell you how to improve your stamina/health bar, some of the ways you're suppose to get onto the bosses and the invisible weak spot during the last cossi, the one on his shoulder and the camera angel during that bit. That's why. Don't get me wrong, I loved the story but the last colossi before dorma, I didn't even feel sorry for him when i finally killed him
awesomekilla112 Trial and error is very bad game design IMO. The fact that you fall all the way down if you fall of his hand, was the worst bit for me. Happened 10 maybe 20 times because I thouhgt you had to jump from his hand to his shoulder.
Fell in love with this on the PS2, and again on the PS3. I'll happily repurchase this again in February. This is a rare instance where a game continues to be remade, but doesn't appear to be trying to cash in. Rather, each remake gets closer to their original vision. I'm all in, again.
Holy nostalgia Batman! 12 years! It's been over a decade and we finally get to see this work of art rendered on new generation hardware! Take all my goddamn money!
I'll have to agree with both of you. I like the simplicity. No loot boxes, power ups, etc...etc. Not saying those games are "bad". I just like how authentic the game feels. It's a nice change.
Ismael Minaya unfortunately, they didn’t add anything extra to the game. This is purely a graphical upgrade. The developers have stated that themselves. It’s a shame and a missed opportunity :/
Peter Andersen That defeats the whole purpose of me even getting this game, I mean I'm extremely grateful that the remake is being made but this is just lazy. The extra Colossi could have expanded the lore dramatically and the longevity, especially since there are still some questions that haven't been answered since the original. This is a massive let down....... Damn.....
The addition of new collosi would have been very nice... If there isn’t really a difference between the remastered and remake versions beside graphical quality why am spending $60 for just that. Looking more and more like a cash grab to me now.
This is not a game, its an art. Saw a salesman playing it in a videogame store way back during ps2 era, and I thought it was a movie. Minimalist gameplay but goosebumps every time opened way starting to play always gets me. A classic of classics.
This game was entrancing when it came out on the PS2. Simple narrative, but an emotional ambiance that very few games have. Cared as much about the colossi as the character, and dispatched them with some regret. This game has true character. As does The Last of Us (another masterpiece) and Portal (the first one) in a different way. A very special game and the do-over looks great.
Jungin Baek the ost makes everything in this game feels sooooo right bro, without this ost this game wont feel the same!!the soundtrack is everything!!!
What did you expect? If they would remaster the soundtrack too. They would completely fuck it up. The soundrack of this game is everything!! It is his soul!!!!
Lets just hope they keep the same level of difficulty as the original, or even better up it instead. Cause it would really kill the whole thing if it was to easy, the looks, story, and difficulty is what gave the original it's shine
Really? The game was a joke in terms of difficulty. I never tried the "hard" mode (I assume that was tougher), but the initial play through was really easy. A giant 500 foot tall monster could hit me directly with his sword, and I could run away for 20 seconds and be back at full health. They didnt do nearly enough damage and the player healed way too fast. It was a blast figuring out how to hurt the bosses and beating them, but I thought the bosses needed to do WAY more damage. Only the second smaller dude ever came close to beating me. If there was like a "one hit and you die" mode I'd definitely play on that, since most attacks are super easy to avoid anyway.
Yeah, figuring out how to harm the bosses was definitely my favorite part! They were all unique. Favorite was probably the smaller guy where you get the torch and he's afraid of fire. I couldnt figure out what to do, and when I left the arena the dude was still following me. I thought I needed to lead him somewhere.
Ya the hard mode did not really make it any more difficult so your not missing out for skipping it! it just made it so you take more damage from their hits. But seeing how u had to unlock it by beating the game first u already knew what to do for all of it so its kinda pointless even if u did not have any of the gear u had unlocked it made little difference !
hard mode WAS a 1 hit and you die. If the colossi ever actually hit you with a heavy move you would die instantly. However, like monarch was saying, you unlocked it after beating the game so you knew when to engage and when to evade. I really hope Blue Point is just keeping the true content of the game under wraps, and the unused colossi are in the game.
Nope. One day I was game shopping for PS3 awhile back and it was this game or Skyrim. I went with Skyrim. Completely overlooked this. So my first experience with Shadow of the Colossus will be on PS4 PRO.
Oh those old days. When I had ps2 I'm always playing this. Now got ps4 definitely gonna play this game. Im still hoping that they gonna make a movie of Shadow of the colossus.
It makes me so unbelievably happy to see that this is just an updated graphics/environment remake. They didn't add a whole bunch of unnecessary clutter or mechanics, they just took the original game and brought it in to modern times. When I saw "remake", I thought movies, and remakes are usually very different from the originals. So my initial thoughts were skeptical, but I'm thrilled to see that feeling proven wrong. It looks amazing.
The last time I played SotC was 2006. Promise this game will again, be critically acclaimed after its release. For those who hadn't the chance to play SotC during its hay day back in 2005, this is a must game for any platformer fans. I remembered I played it with my cousin and friend just to find ways how to beat a certain colossus because it is somewhat like a puzzle since you're trying to locate its vital points while climbing the colossus' body. It's very challenging I must say!
this was the first ps2 game i ever paid for... 124 aussie dollars it cost me. sooo worth it. this game was amazing then ittl be superb now playing as an adult
This and Monster Hunter World are gonna take over my life. I’ve waiting so long for this to be remade and for MH to return to console, and they both happened. Dreams really do come true. 🙌🏾😄
A true masterpiece...my teenage years at my parent's house on my room at 2 am lying on my bed playing this gem, and my dad downstairs playing BLACK and yell at me... "help me i cant finish this mission" ahhh the memories 😊
So you’re telling me I had to fall in love with this game and play it every day of my life with PS2 graphics when this was going to be made in my lifetime? I will take 4 copies.
I know it is a remake (great one by the looks of it too) and they wanted to keep the original feel, but it would have really been a nice touch to add a quiver and arrows rather than magically creating infinite arrows. Just a nitpick.
They could release a hundred versions of this game and tbh I would buy and play every single one.. just such a masterpiece and with these new graphics it looks incredible.
Phalanx was and always will be my favorite colossus who I always regret slaying to this day and I'm gonna have to do it again on ps4... It doesn't deserve to be killed
The new opening does look nice although i wish they hadn't put sound in it and instead just had the music playing over it like the original, that music being on its own and uninterrupted was what made that opening so memorable.
I always thought this game had a lot potential. The big grasslands, desert, forests... so many things could have been done. However later I just thought all the quiet was right. It’s a beautiful game and very simple.
When I first played this. I spent a good 30 minutes trying to figure out how to engage the first colossus. That game is still the one that impressed me the most. It touched me in a very personal way. Great studio, you don't have to miss Ico guys!
Is quite sad about that latest Game (with the DOG/Cat God thing)

30 mins? i tried for 2 days to find the first, was just giving up but then i found him!
A huge respect for those who played first it on PS2.
thx
ya boi
#unforgotten gem.
Thank you.
so nostalgic , i want those years back...

I didn’t play it on ps2 but I played it on ps3
Did you notice how now you don’t have to get on it multiple times and no longer closes the flaps
It triggered me a bit
I've always wanted to play this. The way everyone keeps saying it's one of the greatest games ever made, gets me even more pumped up for it. I preordered the Special Edition. It's only 10 dollars more, looked worth it. I love steel cases. =)
Ryan Mckinney I hope you enjoy it. It's kind of niche, but if you can accept that you are in for a treat unlike few others.
Omg the graphics look fantastic
hcf hfto they're honestly still impressive on PS2!
but they removed the fog :(
I think they did an excellent job on the lighting.
Geanerikc01 that's what I thought
Looks the same to me
I'm incredibly hyped for almost EVERY yet to be released PS4 exclusive. Step your game up Xbox, give me a reason to buy an Xbox One X.
Been saying that for days.
Gears of war. 6 teraflops. Multiplayer with friends. Nice weather. Clean sheets.
I mean, what is pointless here is your argument. You don't argue against a new console, when this game can be played in every PS4 system. SOTC is very special to me, but cmon
Why would you buy a masterpiece on a shitty console? LOL
Rodrigo Narvaez GOW? L O L, GOW is a shit
I remember the glory of play this game when I was just a teenage boy, i cried with the ending part of this game. It's a piece of visual art and now looks eons better than nothing.
Andruw Castro Definitely.
Played it on PS2 before. It's still the greatest game ever.
What a beautiful game... Smart choice to start with the action scene first, and then the beautiful visuals. It really got my attention.
One of my favorite game in the old time...this remastered/remake wow..cant wait to play this on my ps4
I liked the story but hated the gameplay.
renocloudstrife I never played the original but loved the gameplays I watched, I'm definitely buying this remake
Clowntrooper why do you hated this game?
Kauã Nunes Maia 2 of the bosses are exactly the same, it doesn't tell you how to improve your stamina/health bar, some of the ways you're suppose to get onto the bosses and the invisible weak spot during the last cossi, the one on his shoulder and the camera angel during that bit. The bridge of the entrance of the forbidden lands is the longest bridge in the history of videogames
I remember playing it for the first time and thought my game froze cuz I felt like I was making no progress
Not going to lie, kind of felt like that in Mario 64 when I ran for 30 min on the infinite staircase.
Fell in love with this on the PS2, and again on the PS3. I'll happily repurchase this again in February. This is a rare instance where a game continues to be remade, but doesn't appear to be trying to cash in. Rather, each remake gets closer to their original vision. I'm all in, again.
Those creatures are too magnificent to kill.
but i gonna
I gonna kill all of them
MWAHAHAHHA
Exactly what I'm thinking, then I saw this
@@trilobiteprojectcomics I wanna be the very best the best there ever was. To kill them is my real test, to kill them is my cause.
@@lordcthulhu1609 is that resident evil 4 theme song?
Wow. You can even see the grass waving in the wind. 😍😱😍
Almost 15 years later and that music still gives me chills...
what a game
The feeling of walking up to the first boss.. so excited.. no other game has ever giving me the same feel
This is one of the first game I ever played that really had me immersed. I was amazed and it's without a doubt one of my favorite games.
this is how an remake/remaster should look like
Just a remake
Holy nostalgia Batman! 12 years! It's been over a decade and we finally get to see this work of art rendered on new generation hardware! Take all my goddamn money!
Still got this on my PS2, which still works. Great gem to go back and play
Seeing the game like this brings back a lot of great memories.. the soundtrack in my opinion is some of the best tracks I’ve heard in a game.
I never though my childhood could be more awesome than it already was...
I'm glad I was wrong.
Why cant video games just be like this anymore nothing but child hood memories
ILyk2Sip Pure gameplay, no online multiplayer, no lootboxes, no nonsense.
I'll have to agree with both of you. I like the simplicity. No loot boxes, power ups, etc...etc. Not saying those games are "bad". I just like how authentic the game feels. It's a nice change.
I hope they add the bosses they had to leave out due to time constraints in og version

I think they're not so stupid as too ruin the game for everyone xD Greatest video game soundtrack ever.
"The original Original.."
I have to agree the soundtrack made this game even more epic!
Awesome graphics, awesome landscapes, awesome game at all. Waiting for it 😍
The underwater collossus was the creepiest one.
Rokitmann Imo,the creepiest was that colossi that came out of the sand and it was similar to the underwater one
Kovács Zoltán He looked inside your soul
LONESOFT GAMES yeah
Hydrus is pretty darn fine. Dirge is the ugliest one
When I was a kid that’s the Only one I couldn’t beat pissed me off

Oh those old days. When I had ps2 I'm always playing this. Now got ps4 definitely gonna play this game. Im still hoping that they gonna make a movie of Shadow of the colossus.
Bloody Baron It Was in the making back in 2015,but the Development is paused or canceled
Best game ever! The music, the history, the gameplay, the difficult!!

A stunning remake, Bigpoint ! Well done !
Thank you for remastering this beauty!!!

Music quality, wolrd quality, game quality rank A+
this was the first ps2 game i ever paid for... 124 aussie dollars it cost me. sooo worth it. this game was amazing then ittl be superb now playing as an adult
I can't believe I never noticed this game on PS2 or PS3... I'm NOT gonna miss it this time around!
im super excited.so glad they kept the original soundtrack and enhanced the sound overall.looks and sounds amazing.cant wait.
Just woke up to a cup of Coffee when I opened up UA-cam and in the recommendations.....OMG...SOTC Remastered? Now I can die in peace!
I have never seen such realistic graphic in my life..those who made this deserve an Oscar ( yes I know it's a game )
The forest area at the beginning - i dont remember seeing that in my ps2 game --- is that a new thing they've added?
This seriously looks amazing. I'd pay 40 dollars to play this all over again. Would be cool if extra features are added too
The game looks simply breathtaking... I really would like to see a remake of ICO as well. I think that's my favorite of the three games in the series
I didn't finish this game on ps2 because it was at my dad's house and he moved far away. I'm so glad I waited to chase this game.
have this gem on ps2 and ps3...now GOT to have it on ps4....looks absolutely stunning!
This and Monster Hunter World are gonna take over my life. I’ve waiting so long for this to be remade and for MH to return to console, and they both happened. Dreams really do come true. 🙌🏾😄
Is there no grip meter? That was a huge part of the game, managing grip/breath. I hope it isn't gone.
I was there - 2005 playing. And now I'm still here
Man I loved this game, it was so awesome. Gotta get this new one.
Looks absolutely astounding! I'm excited for this remake!
Dude how are we in 2017 but this games horse animation is from 2029..This looks fantastic, so much realism to the animation.
Adam Shalashaska Even on PS2 the realism was mind blowing.
Notice agro (the horse) kinda looks like her leg muscles are moving
This game is ABSOLUTELY EPIC and deserves a great remake!
The scenery in this game is gorgeous!
That's some quality gameplay right there. Good job.
Are they going to add something new or just updated graphics?
Assisti ao vídeo duas vezes, e confesso que ainda estou babando tentando absorver essa qualidade gráfica!
A true masterpiece...my teenage years at my parent's house on my room at 2 am lying on my bed playing this gem, and my dad downstairs playing BLACK and yell at me...
"help me i cant finish this mission" ahhh the memories 😊
Waking up on a Saturday at 8 am, turning my ps2 on grabbing a quick bowl of fruity pebbles. Time flies by fast but this game will be cemented forever
Im crying the first scene with the light coming through the trees was so beatful (Yes I cant spell) Im littaraly in tears
Will it have loot crates? I want Hot Pink Argo skins that I can only unlock via an arbitrary gambling system.
Stinkyremy I can see what your getting at by sayig that but I'm fine with having the infinite arrows like the original
awesomekilla112 it's like Link, he keeps all his shit up his ass xD (possible pun)
link always has a quivver, though BotW is the only one where it is visable
Stinkyremy But yeah I see what you're saying, wouldn't hurt to have a quiver so he doesn't look like he's materializing his arrows out of thin air xD.
Anyone who has unlocked the harpoon in game notice how slow it flies whenever wander throws it?
Man .... why would you even buy an Xbox with a masterpiece like this isn't on it ?
Mistake number one: You bought an XBOX.
exactly xbox have no good exclusives
One word: Cuphead
LOL, I can play Cuphead on my 2013 laptop
@Adam McMillan Garcia i hope PS5 can run even PS3 Games, if yes, xbox one would officially be dead
I had this game on ps2 , the best game I”be ever played
Mitrei Egorov It's phenomenal.
What's up with Agro's tail? did they make it longer or is it just me?
i remember fighting this one when i was young it was the most empowering experience this game is truly a masterpiece
sold my ps2 but kept ico and sotc
hey, this is a lot better than I expected.
This is my honor to play it again on PS4... :')
Wonder if there will be a way to climb the tower and find a hidden 17th colossus ;)
There was a 4k version of this from some japanese account. I can't seem to find it anymore. It looks really good in 4K.
The best game ever made. A true masterpiece like none other.
I've always loved the sound of a horse galloping
They could release a hundred versions of this game and tbh I would buy and play every single one.. just such a masterpiece and with these new graphics it looks incredible.
here ladies and gentleman, the best game ever made
Phalanx was and always will be my favorite colossus who I always regret slaying to this day and I'm gonna have to do it again on ps4... It doesn't deserve to be killed
SO so beautifull also they add new animations of monsters on 4:32 he never do me a barrel roll , amazing !
oh man i cant wait to play this... again
Are they putting in the Colossi that they left out of the original because of memory restraints of the time?
The new opening does look nice although i wish they hadn't put sound in it and instead just had the music playing over it like the original, that music being on its own and uninterrupted was what made that opening so memorable.
wow i think when it come out i will play it again
I always thought this game had a lot potential. The big grasslands, desert, forests... so many things could have been done. However later I just thought all the quiet was right. It’s a beautiful game and very simple.
I never played this game back on the ps2, but it looks amazingly beautiful
PS2, PS3 or PS4, no matter where you play, this game is THE master piece.
Never had a ps2 or ps3, but looking forward to playing it on my PS4
ThePhantom Timelord المهم انها حماس
*I feel mi life is geting so much better in every minute of this Video*
But how long is this game? Never played i before. So u just kill those 7 or 11 collussus and game over? They seem a bit easy to kill idk
Amazing! So happy this is happening.
I had a demo version of this on ps2. I really wanted to full version :(
А tear ran down my cheek...So nostalgy and beauty.
The first scene reminds of the beginning of majora's mask, only with way better graphics lol
It was a marvel at the time of Ps2...!!most games today could not match SOTC's gameplay..!!its a masterpiece, magnum opus, whatever it is...!!
Give goosebumps this first track
