Makes sense to use proxies to test this, if only as a guage.
Another great video. Don't listen to anyone who says you cover too many alternate aircraft. I think the opposite, I don't think you should cover anything other than technological breakthroughs in the US. Russia, China,Turkey etc are more than enough to keep channel busy. There are 1000 Western channels but only 1 M7.
Interesting choice of countries especially given that the world’s tech breakthroughs tend to happen in Northeast Asia, Israel, Singapore, and a few countries in Europe/ Australia.
The critics who say you pay too much attention to non Western airfoecee are wrong in my opinion. I appreciate your insights in especially the Russian and Chinese airforces.
@@lars9966 You can count it. I believe he had like 4 videos about su57 including the recent one. Don't count video where he put it all together to make a longer video.
I often come across a ridiculous view: China's military has not been tested in real combat for decades, so its actual combat effectiveness is questionable. I just want to know, which Western country has fought a comparable opponent in recent decades? Don't tell me you're the strongest in kindergarten.
The US did great the last time we fought a major naval war. Umm, in 1945. But we had 25 ships per admiral, so now with out 1.2 admirals per ship we'll do a even better. Right?
@@k53847 I'm not sure if you're being sarcastic. 1945 was almost 80 years ago. Generations have passed. It's not that the US military now isn't strong, but look at the current state of the US shipbuilding industry and the quality control issues at Boeing. Plus, Tesla has factories in both China and the US, and comparing the quality between the two, it's clear that US manufacturing capabilities and quality control have declined significantly. I mean, wars between major powers are wars of attrition. The production speed of ships in the Imperial Japanese Navy was nowhere near comparable to the US. But can the US's current heavy industry production capacity, workforce size, and skill level compare to those during World War II?
Most recent would have been either 91 during the first Gulf War or Iraq again in 2003 during the Second Gulf War, though Iraq was a good bit weaker then than in 1991. Though its hard for Western nations to find comparable opponents since the west fights as a coalition for the most part and the only peers to western nations are other western nations since the USSR collapsed and only recently china.
Honestly I love that you do non western aircraft. I really don't want to watch repetitive slop about how lethal and cool western aircraft are. It's a glaring Achilles heel that Americans don't like to hear about their adversaries in a positive light, even if the purpose is analysis and education. I'd very much rather be informed than pandered to.
I loved reading about Soviet aircraft when I was a kid during the Cold War. Something about the enemy aircraft adds a mystique and exoticness to it. I still think the Mig 25 is a beautiful and bad asz looking plane. It's in my top 3 favorite aircraft.
@@tenzinalexander Shortly after the collapse of the USSR and unification of Germany, combat tests were conducted between the West German aircraft and NATO tactics against the East German Soviet birds of the time (Migs 29s and Sukhois) -the Western side got their clocks cleaned in those tests and it resulted in major internal overhauls. Take any of that "we are the greatest" stuff with a pinch of salt lol You can only ever really know when it comes down to it - no conflict is won on paper and theory alone.
A little correction here 2nd Air brigade don’t have J-10C anymore but converted to J-20 recently and the 44th Air brigade retired J-7G/JJ-7A and received J-10C from the 2nd Air Brigade. Also love watching your videos ❤ Good luck
The West always over-estimate their enemies.. this is so that congress gives them more funding.. ''Oh China has more ships than us! We're lagging behind tremendously - we need to fix our shipyards! yadadadada or else the Chinese navy will outnumber us and we will lose a war in the Pacific!"' and then Congress gives the navy a budget increase with money the amount of half the GDP of the European Union..
They never stopped encircling the chinese. They seem to be laughing at them and thus look stupid, but they do clever things all the time. Sleepy Joe, despite his abysmal performance as a president nowadays, is a great example for this. He was a huge anti-china activist back in the 1980s, but now he is pretending that he said nothing, and making dumb decisions. Because of this characteristic of the US politicians, the chinese never let their guards down.
These people never mention that when China was founded, it confronted the five permanent members of the United Nations. I don't remember the first time the United States signed an armistice.
Wow, as a foreigner, you have a pretty detailed understanding of the organizational structure of the Chinese military. Staff Headquarters, Political Department, Logistics Department, Armaments Department, these are the four ministries of the Chinese military, but they were all reclassified in the 2016 reform, and were changed to 7 ministries (departments), 3 committees, 5 directly affiliated institutions, a total of 15 functional departments. So the description in the video is outdated, but I still have to say that it is amazing for a foreigner to be able to do such in-depth research, and many official think tanks do not have such a level.
@@gusgone4527 likely the FC-31, which has the J-35 designation in the Chinese military. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shenyang_FC-31 It’s also the most obvious offshoot (in terms of design) of the 2007 hack of the US DoD where Chinese hackers were able to steal a lot of data regarding the F-35 JSF.
CONGRATULATIONS seriously. You're one of the VERY few people that so much as consider the following critical areas in your assessment: logistics maintainers and their effects on readiness. Like you, I've been scouring the internet for open source info in these areas, and found little to nothing of use. Around 2 to 3 months ago there was an exceptionally well done deep dive into China's problems with training maintainers as well as the cultural issues with getting the "best and the brightest" to even consider a career in the Chinese military. In a nutshell: Maintainers were getting only a few weeks of overly generalized training before being deployed. This had the effect of making them utterly incapable of diagnosing problems with sophisticated modern weapons, each of which always have their own unique failure modes that can not be corrected without knowing where to look for the root cause of the failure. As a result maintainers could only remove and discard entire systems rather than fix them. That kind of behavior is more than wasteful, it's unsustainable during anything more than a short conflict. Storing malfunctioning equipment to be fixed later carries with it its own problems. You can't simply put things on a shelf. Some things have batteries that have to be removed before storage. Others need to be packed with descants to prevent damage by humidity. Still others have to be packed in something like creosote, grease, or even a specialized substance, to prevent oxidation. And yet more can be extremely susceptible to damage do to temperature extremes. That, and many systems have to be disassembled into sub-assemblies before storage, because some of the sub-assemblies have storage requirements that are incompatible with the storage requirements of other sub-assemblies that are part of that system. And that doesn't even cover systems that employ the use of incredibly toxic substances that require highly trained and equipped personal to so much as be in the same room with them. The point being that the maintenance and storage of modern military systems is an incredibly complex issue that seems to only get more complex with each passing year. Are China's maintainers up to the challenge? According to this video that answer would be a resounding NO! However, since UA-cam only shows when something was posted, but not when it was produced, you have no way of knowing how out of date it is. And like the video I saw, many disappear soon after posting never to be seen again. Lastly there is the cultural issue of careers in the military being seen as a job fit only for ignorant peasants. It's not a problem unique to China, but it can be an exceptionally difficult problem to overcome. The "best and the brightest" of China aren't interested in careers in the military unless a close relative can guarantee their placement in the top echelons of the military where they can essentially steal their way into fabulous wealth. But since China's "best and brightest" are finding high paying jobs near impossible to find of late, with many of them being reduced to working at near starvation wages as delivery men, perhaps the military may have suddenly become a much more attractive choice that it used to be. But that simply brings up the question of whether China's incredibly over leveraged economy, and terminal demographics, would allow China survive even a very short conflict, which is a subject that really should be considered, but not within the scope of this video.
i think you maybe misunderstood several things that’s in Most perspectives of Chinese, entering army is a much glory way in their family. It’s a completely different social consensus comparing with western. In the same time, become maintainer in army mostly means the soldier has graduated from university. This is another system to recruit soldier, if you don’t deep searching these information.
To correct, China's J11B series should be 240, 150 is the number of the previous Air Force. But the dozens of J11BHs of the Navy have been transferred to the Air Force.
The people who say you're focusing too much on OpFor air forces are not seeing the forest through the trees. Understanding what other nations are doing and capable of, and how they're improving is crucial to forming a well rounded understanding of the world and possible future engagements. Yes we're all just armchair generals at the end of the day, but intellectual curiosity is still important and means the difference between being ignorant and being well informed.

Most of these things end up better and worse than expected. Better than many people think, but more limited than some fear. Like all military platforms, there will be some things it excels at and weak points that if exploited can mean trouble. Regardless, its one of only 3 mass produced stealth aircraft in the world and should be respected as it would be advantaged against many opponents due to this alone. That out of the way, I plan to watch the video later today. Dont forget how much of a surprise to the west helmet mounted cueing for missiles was after the breakup of the soviet union. There are bound to be technological surprises kept in every aircraft's back pocket until day 1 of a war.
You don't need to fear them, all you need to do is respect and you eliminate the risk of underestimating them. But I don't think average westerner can respect China considering all the stereotypes. Lol. Hope the military is different than average westerner.
@@MGZetta Well, lets just say the United States has a proven track record since the 2nd world war of completely overreacting to what we think a potential adversary has on their hands. Its my preferred error response if they have bad information (rather than underestimating a capability), but it shows how the fear (or fearmongering) can be used to drive policy. I do think many 30+ year olds in the west grew up with china as the nation of cheap junk, and supped on the climate of the victory over the soviets. They underestimate china in general. I don''t ever want anything to do with their political system - it has many issues for its citizens - but it is undeniable china has vaulted itself into position as one of the top 2 world powers - and has the potential to become the leading power if their government doesnt end up falling into many of the pitfalls totalitarian governments often do over the long haul.
*lol* Russia is an extremely defensive power. And Russia has enough SAMs, that they can fire 10 at every NATO aircraft in existance, and not run out. Aaaand then in just months, produce enough additional SAMs, to do it AGAIN. Just like USSR, Russia has never tried to counter Nato symmetrically. And the success of SAMs and EW shows that it works.
No. That plane was German. Specifically, an Extra 330LX. And the canopy fell off due to user error. The Dutch pilot (Narine Melcumjan) failed to ensure that the locking pin was in the locked position during the preflight check. The plane did not have any electronics to detect this, and it jarred loose during take off. When the plane was flown upside down, the canopy flipped open, and the sudden rush of air ripped it completely off. Melcumjan was also flying without eye protection, and was lucky to be able to land the plane despite the 100+ mph wind in the eye.
When people were talking about war experience, I just can't stop laughing. The US loves war so much. They never stop going to war with every country of the world and must have a lot of war experience then, but have they won any war(s) at all since World War II? They couldn't even beat the Vietnamese barefoot Vietcoms. For 20 years they couldn't beat the Telibans fighting with only AK47, and now they can't do anything about the Houthis, hahahaha.....
Vietnam was a weapons test bed. The U.S. government knew it wasn't going to win when 80% of the South Vietnamese backed the North Vietnamese. There was a massive pull forward in technology and training. It went from parity with the Soviets to being "30 years" ahead in military technology. Afghanistan and the Iraqi invasion still advanced drone warfare, the Apache and I.E.D. (both sides) technology. Also 80% of the Afghans backed the Taliban even though the Taliban don't even control all of Afghanistan as a territory. Nobody knows how many Houthi rebels there are and like the Taliban, anybody can claim they are a Houthi rebel making killing them all impossible.
@@orlock20the Taliban is only supported by the Pashtun ethnic minority. Every other single ethnic minority in Afghanistan, that’s about 50+% of the total population, either is utterly terrified of, or actively fight against the Taliban.
You clearly dont know what youre talking about then. Win or lose, experience is experience. "You learn more form winning than you do from losing" is the US' whole thing when going into training exercises & such, often handicapping themselves to stack the odds up against themselves.
Thanks for the great videos! Most youtube content from other creators are very surface level and repetitive. It is refreshing to hear what other major powers are doing with their air forces since we are changing from a politically uni-polar to bi/multi-polar landscape. It does nothing good to bury your head in the sand and other peoples are capable of surpassing our own accomplishments. Also, understanding the military capabilities also helps to understand possible political ambitions of those countries or nations. I hear people say that China wants to land troops in the USA or Russia wants to conquer Europe and both of those are physically impossible for both militaries. Its not even close and therefor its not an ambition. Both are built for regional operations and its far more effective to dominate economically with the military being secondary.
1989, as Lockheed was proposing a flight test academy, in BeiJing I met Grumman Aircraft for a job interview. Grumman had a program to remove wings from China’s top fighter, then insert the wingless aircraft into a C-5B and fly it to Bethpage, NY Grumman was getting a contract to upgrade avionics on China’s fighter, including installation of Heads Up Display. After upgrading the aircraft would be delivered back to China and wings remounted
Also consider that the Shenyang J-31 (land-based) and J-35 (carrier-based) will be going into production in the near future. J-31 is likely to be a big export seller given exports of the JF-17 are picking up. I believe the PAF has already ordered the J-31.

US economic growth support by its military activities in entire world by war, China economic growth support by its export of consumer goods to entire world.
The domestic economy actually supports China much more than the exports but yeah they are the undisputed king of exports in the whole world. By compounding they are also adding 1 trillion gdp each year which is damn scary.
Jf17 block3 uses KLJ7A active phased array radar, and its ability to detect RCS5 targets is about 150-170KM. But its array is not large, so the TR components are not as many as the F16V Typhoon (with ECRS version) and J10C radars, but it has a better detection range than the Rafale F3. I don't know the specific data of the detection range of the Typhoon and J10C, but the detection range of the KLJ7A radar of the JF17Block3 is not as good as the 200KM+ of the APG83 of the F16 block70 to detect RCS 5 targets. But the Jf17 is just a light fighter, and it is already very good to be able to achieve this detection range.
@@你看个锤子你看I agree as a light fighter its radar performance is impressive and commensurates with the performance of its air to air weapons. It gives a good bang for buck and now has many multidomain weapons and sensors from China Pakistan and Turkey integrated with it.
Let's unify the standards. If the J20 is not considered a fifth-generation aircraft, then the F22 and F35 cannot be considered either. F22's disadvantages: backward sensors and avionics, no EOTS EODAS and other sensors that the J20 has. It doesn't even have IRST that the J16 has. 1. The only thing that is stronger than the J20 is super maneuverability. No matter how strong your maneuverability is, can it be stronger than missiles? 2. F35: The avionics sensors are very advanced, but the disadvantages are: no supersonic cruise capability, not even as fast as the fourth-generation aircraft. The maneuverability is also very ordinary. Some people say that the canard destroys stealth, but the F22's Garrett air intake also destroys stealth.
The F35 can maneuver with a 9G overload, this is a normal overload for modern fighters, which means it enters a circle of the same radius at the same speed as the f22 or rafale. So the f35 can be called the 5th generation.
@@jasonj3599 Uh, I was talking about the fact that the f35 is the fifth generation, and not about the maximum speeds of the j16 and F22, right? Are you stupid? And the J16 is a two-seat Su 35, or Su30 without a front pair of wings, it is optimized for subsonic flight, and the f22 is for flight up to speeds up to 1.8 M. Are you sure that the J16 with a combat load will accelerate to a higher speed than the f22 at an altitude of 11 kilometers? I'm not sure at all. And don't even try to manipulate the facts from Wikipedia here.
For all the reasons, the Russians should give Chinese the credit for not just copying their technology to perfection but also enhancing it with modern avionics and indigenous weaponry.
What unlicensed? The agreement between China and Soviet Union on SU27 collapsed after Soviet Collapsed. The Design and Plans already purchased by China. With Soviet collapsed, China are not bound legally by any countries to make more SU27 derivatives.
I personally think that China's tactical ground strike capability is mainly due to its relative lack of ground strike ammunition compared to the United States, especially the lack of heavy satellite-guided bombs. In terms of laser guidance, I have confirmed that China has an analogue of Paveway. After all, because Beidou did not have a network before, it will be completed in 2020. Now China should have more satellite-guided bombs. Who knows? China's biggest problem is that even in propaganda films, it is not particularly clear, and many things have to be guessed by military enthusiasts.
What do you mean, they have 3 different kinds of GPS guides munitions, and they are mass produced. They likely have a considerable amount of these kinds of bombs.
Nice to see a neutral presentation of various countries and systems. Sure there are some jokes here and there, but they still stay based reality and not try to undermine subject. And always reminding what is known and what is unknown is important, as it helps audience to comprehend the subjects better.

@@alispeed5095 mind you, the rapid growth was because of Western investment and a transfer of skills / technologies / industrial know-how The Chinese Miracle didnt happen all on their own and independently... The Western Industrialist / Investment class was unhappy with their cut of the economic pie as labour unions, environmental protecections was eating some of their lunch. They correctly reckoned that moving manufacturing to places with virtually no environmental protection and labor laws would allow them to pay third world workers a fraction of western pay, produce the products more cheaply while at the same time increasing their profit margins. However, while they were happy with the short term effects of this gambit, they were unable to foresee the long term effects of it. Ie, Chinese were biding their time, upskilling and learning to get to a point to compete on their own merit. Concurrently, this also resulted in a disenfranchisement of the western middle and working class.
Very interesting. One additional factor to consider is that China seems very keen to expand weapons exports. They seem to have developed a number of weapons specifically for export. I wonder if creating a sort of parallel ‘business’ side is a way of increasing internal competition, or perhaps a way of having something to sell without giving away any secrets.
Nations often sell watered down versions of some of their best weapons systems. But sometimes weaponry is developed just for the world arms market, where military budgets for smaller nations may be fairly limited.

In my personal Opinion, J-20 is a secret plane. It might have some features that are not even present in F-35 and it can be compared to the 5.5 Gen if not close to the 6th generation aircraft.
@@Kevin.S.Birdwell My view is that the concept of F22 is outdated. If it is used in actual combat, it is essentially the same as the fourth-generation aircraft. With the development of artificial intelligence, the thinking of China's J20B is correct. It's as if any country which dedicates more funds to infrastructure and social services over defence doesn't have the might of the US Army... At the same time, people seem to enjoy subsidised healthcare, education and public services from all those non-US countries. Maybe people should state their priorities before they decide to call a country a "paper tiger" just because that administration invests heavily in other sectors than the military. Even Americans are trapped in a bit of an awkward situation: lowest life expectancy of any advanced economy, trillions in student loan debt, increasing taxes, yet they can't stop cheering when they see a B2 bomber doing a flyby at sports events. Which way, modern man?! :D
"Even Americans are trapped in a bit of an awkward situation" Way more than awkward. USA is getting close to the point where it cannot service its debts. And this despite printing money faster than Weimar. Another TRILLION $ in debt every 3 months. "just because that administration invests heavily in other sectors than the military." See if you can find a source showing the Chinese expansion of infrastructure and housing in the last 30 years, it is simply amazing. Instead, all you hear is "China fail! builds ghost cities!". Yes, they're literally building both entire new citydistricts and their infrastructure without any people prepared to move there, that is INTENTIONAL. Because within 5 years of said construction, most of the housing is occupied and the "empty subway stations" are no longer remotely close to empty. They're doing things smartly, they plan and execute longterm instead of just reacting to whatever deficiencies provides the most profit at the moment. However, it needs to be said that after those 2 USA officers openly talked in 2022 about "once Russia is destroyed, China is next in 2025", China has started a MASSIVE militarisation. Extremely noticeable especially in the production of supertankers, where today, the production is down by 90%, because China diverted their entire production to military ships. Not that this really noticeable for the common people of China anyway. As China's economy is so large, that nowadays it CAN do a surge of military equipment without really slowing down its civillian development programs.
The US spends more per capita in healthcare and with worse outcomes than any other OCDE country. You could literaly create a national healthcare system, increase life expectancy and all while spending less money. The only reasob you don't is not because of military spending. Its because the people are stupid and think anything related to the state providing services = communism. American don't understand there are mixed systems such as social democracy.
It also helps that China doesn't have lobbyists that raise costs to ten times their actual value. A US MQ9 costs 30 million dollars, and the Chinese equivalent costs 2 million. Most of the US defense budget goes to Raytheon executives yachts.
"The Chinese Air Force: Dragon or Paper Tiger?" Both of course. But they're doing a pretty good job replacing the paper with scales ever since those 2 US officers got caught 2022 publicly and OPENLY talking about how the plan was that first Russia would be destroyed and then China was next in 2025. Chinese military buildup is also the reason why production of supertankers have dropped by around 80-90% since 2022. And the reason why China's 200-ish ICBMs, liquid fuelled that takes hours at minimum to launch, obsolete enough that USAs airdefence may be able to intercept most of the warheads, are now being rapidly replaced by solid fuel(ie no need to fuel them before launch) rockets, no gyro that has to be spun up "manually" and no 50+ years old parts for maintenance that haven't been made in serial production for decades. And above all else, modern MIRV warheads with decoys, the kind that USAs airdefence has no real hope of stopping, at all. "plenty of similarities with western airforces" Is that supposed to be a good thing or bad thing comparison?

Your statement is seriously wrong, it is just a traditional impression. In fact, many weapons involve electronic stealth. China benefits from trade with the West and is more influenced by the West. Even the core of the WS10 engine seems to be more influenced by the F110. For example, China developed its own Aegis combat system as early as 2003, but Russia and Ukraine did not. For example, the J16 only has a similar aerodynamic shape to Russia, and its electronic equipment and radar have nothing to do with the Soviet Union and Russia.
The purpose of not providing weapons to Russia is very simple. Military war is just a continuation of politics, not for online fighting. Besides, with all due respect, the scale of technical weapons actually invested by both Russia and Ukraine is not too large. The main combat mode and thinking are still the artillery clusters and tactical missiles attacking each other in the Soviet era. I have not seen large-scale electronic confrontation and various message system operations in modern warfare. Even the FPV produced by Taobao can be a great threat. This is just an outdated mode of war. The gold content is not as difficult as testing the technology of one's own weapons in the harsh environment of the technical test range of one's own country. Just like the United States, it did not provide Ukraine with F35, but only provided the old F16 (not even block52)

Sometimes having something that is good enough right now trumps something that is better that will only arrive next week (or if ever) Not even going to mention the economic aspect of this, where it makes little sense to have a $10,000,000.00 tank taken out by a $1000 - $2000 drone. No! Just like the Japanese in the Pacific War waving samurai swords and wanting to duel with the Americans, the Americans responded with continuous shooting of Thompson submachine guns. In the same way, the Russians and Ukrainians lack electronic suppression capabilities, so this cheap drone becomes an "effective weapon."
Pretty interesting aspects. The secret is not in having the biggest air force but mobile launch sites. To beat any adversary and I mean any is to have no fixed positions. Radars, launchers everything mobile. Same with any tank or artilery units. Everything that's fixed and stays in the same spot for some time is an easy target.
However, Europe has not developed a high-thrust engine, but China has. The Typhoon's engine is also only a medium-thrust engine.……European engines don't seem to be as comprehensive as Chinese ones. It can only be said that Europe specializes in one aspect. Chinese engines are relatively comprehensive. My opinion is that the thrust and thrust-to-weight ratio of Chinese engines can meet the needs, but the service life is still behind that of the United States. However, now, I think Chinese engines may surpass Russian engines.
@@Henry_the_Eighth_ ? It has nothing to do with Soviet design. The WS10 is said to be "plagiarized" because it has more to do with the F110 core engine. The reason why WS10 is controversial in China is that they chose to copy the F110 core engine, and China did not have the industrial technology foundation in 1990-2000. As a result, the progress of China's domestic engines was very slow at that time, and China rejected the proposal to introduce the AL31F engine for localization, which led to the fact that China's domestic engines could not mature for a long time, and they did not mature until after 2010...
@@Henry_the_Eighth_ But now China's aviation engines have surpassed Russia. Russia's 30 has never been put into actual deployment. The WS15 has completed flight tests on the J20. This is the biggest difference. As for WS10, after WS10B/C matured, China also stopped purchasing AL31F from Russia.
@@你看个锤子你看 There's only so much you can do from industrial espionage, that's all I'm saying. While countries like the US and Russia have decades of extensive experience onto production of aircraft frames/engines/electronics, China has been in a chasing position for a long time. Even with all the money and capabilities to copy indigenous designs of other countries, China is still a long way from attaining a real "independence" design and production-wise.
It's because the J20 like the F22 is primarely an air supremacy fighter. It has multirole capabilities just like the F22 but it's made almost exclusively for air to air engagements. The F35 is a true multirole. The Chinese chose not to make an ultra-expensive super high tech aircraft just to then send it to launch bombs at a tank column where it can get easily shot down. The reason why the Americans chose a true multirole as their primary 5th gen stealth fighter is because they were more confident in their capacity of producing them in very large numbers and also in their SEAD capabilities. If you ask me, that seems like arogant overconfidence and the work of a people who think that all of their enemies have inferior cheap cardboard weapons from Alibaba and the work of defence industry leaders who want to score extremely expensive contracts. Metaphorically speaming, the US DOD spends 1000$ on a military issue toothbrush
@@daniels0376 I think the 4.5 generation fighter jets have a higher cost-effectiveness in ground strikes. Because for the fifth generation fighter jets, take the F35 for example, if it maintains stealth, it means it can only have one bomb in the magazine, + two air-to-air missiles. If it is fully loaded with bombs, it means there are no air-to-air missiles. This will affect combat effectiveness. If it is equipped with external ammunition? Oh my god, then stealth will be sacrificed. It is better to continue using 4.5 generation fighter jets.
The J-20 is compared to the F-35 instead of the F-22 because the latter is an out-of production dead end. It's actually very likely at this point that by the time J-20 enters any form of real combat, most of the F-22 fleet will have been retired.
Hi Gus. Tried to send answer as reply, but your system won't have it. So here I send it separately: This is relatively simple: they don't HAVE TO BE opponents. Chances are, they will. They are opponents today and are both working hard on annoying each other over Taiwan, the Chinese Sea and,and,and.... Russia is today already at a serious crossroads, looking at what is happening inside Russia and calculating that Russia probably will loose the war there is an economical desaster looming on the horizon, or even at the garden gate! This will also lead to reparation payments, directly, indirectly doesn't matter. Having to pay for that, having to repair the political and financial desaster they already are in AND having to rebuild their military complex is going to take decades. In addition, a huge percentage of young people have died in the Ukraine and a lot have fled to other countries. Both these things lead to a crippling BRAIN-DRAIN, and that in addition to what I have written here makes it near to impossible to rebuild their military complex in 20 Years. This also will have huge implications on every departement of the Russian governing body. If you take all these problems plus the rampant corruption in Russia, all bets are off! All of this shouts out for desperate money saving measures. There the recall of all "externally " fighting troops from various locations in the world will be essential. It is not the question if the US or Russia have more external wars or "Activity-Areas", it is only important to not have to spend money on external issues instead of using it at home. That's about it!
someone living in a parallel universe just commented. The war only drive more resources to be input in to Russia military complex, even if they need to starve. Millitary biz will boom. That's the right logic. Everything else is just BS.

@@muhtadaali8847 Well Comac poached an airbus designer so their plane is very similar to an airbus interior, less training is necessary. The reason ramping up doesn't happen by boeing/airbus is because they're afraid they'll be left with over capacity they can't sell, meaning wasted money. Comac I do believe is willing to over commit
there is also KJ500 AWAC, JH7 belongs to Navy aviation group and , J20 production is somewhat 300, J20 production will soon be ended and J20B production will take place

Or just want to live in a bubble. I mean, it's far easier for people to think of Chinese forces as just a whole bunch of endless zombies that are easy to kill, rather than analyzing and coming up with a sound response.
No matter the source, it is extremely difficult to know the actual numbers as they keep these things very secretive especially on their airframe numbers.
I suggest that you reconsider the role of the "political department". It's a common mistake to see PLA as the being derived from the Soviet military but the former evolved independently from the latter. Even though both militaries have political officers, their role in the PLA is far more important and persistent than their counterparts in the Soviet military. The role of the political officers is to ensure that the military remains loyal to the party and carry out party political objectives, rather than becoming an interest group of its own. The importance of political officers remains critical to the PLA to this day. There is one political officer for every level of military unit from company level upward, and there's also a "political department" from regimental level upward, which functions as the staff of the political officer in the unit.

You're one of the VERY few people that so much as consider the following critical areas in your assessment:
logistics
maintainers
and their effects on readiness.

Russia is an extremely defensive power.

Grumman had a program to remove wings from China’s top fighter, then insert the wingless aircraft into a C-5B and fly it to Bethpage, NY

Hello Sir, I hope you are great,i am very grateful if you make a dedicated video about jf 17 block 3 and especially AESA radar significance.

Some people say that the canard destroys stealth, but the F22's Garrett air intake also destroys stealth.
i agree with you
@@user-uc7kg4wp7c thanks 🙏
The F35 can maneuver with a 9G overload, this is a normal overload for modern fighters, which means it enters a circle of the same radius at the same speed as the f22 or rafale. So the f35 can be called the 5th generation.

@@alispeed5095 mind you, the rapid growth was because of Western investment and a transfer of skills / technologies / industrial know-how
The Chinese Miracle didnt happen all on their own and independently...
Biden said, overcapacity
Nations often sell watered down versions of some of their best weapons systems. But sometimes weaponry is developed just for the world arms market, where military budgets for smaller nations may be fairly limited.

In my personal Opinion, J-20 is a secret plane. It might have some features that are not even present in F-35 and it can be compared to the 5.5 Gen if not close to the 6th generation aircraft.

"Even Americans are trapped in a bit of an awkward situation"
Way more than awkward. USA is getting close to the point where it cannot service its debts. And this despite printing money faster than Weimar.
Another TRILLION $ in debt every 3 months.
"just because that administration invests heavily in other sectors than the military."
See if you can find a source showing the Chinese expansion of infrastructure and housing in the last 30 years, it is simply amazing.

Both of course.

If Chinese systems and tech is untested why wouldnt they take a more prominent role in Ukraine, given the most probable trajectory over the Taiwan issue will result in conflict? Western forces have gotten decent insight into their effectiveness (or lack thereof) against a peer rival rather than just some mountain guys in flip flops in the mid-east.
Makes sense to use proxies to test this.
Edit: And since much of Chinese military tech / doctrine is some kind of derivative of Russian / Soviet tech / doctrine, Western knowledge gleaned from Ukraine will thus be useful against the PLA too. You'd think they'd take the opportunity to counter.

Sometimes producing large amounts of something simple (that can be easily replaced) is prevalent over that which is much more expensive, complex, takes a lot of training to master and / or a long time to produce...
Sometimes having something that is good enough right now trumps something that is better that will only arrive next week (or if ever)
Not even going to mention the economic aspect of this, where it makes little sense to have a $10,000,000.00 tank taken out by a $1000 - $2000 drone.
Also, look at the effectiveness of old dumb missiles retrofitted with glide-bomb kits too
@@scroopynooperz9051 OK, FPV is a threat, but the premise is that the battlefield is not subject to electronic suppression. Just like the Chinese battlefield during World War II, the Chinese and Japanese armies lacked automatic firepower, and bayonets and 🗡️ were still effective in close combat, but, I would like to ask, are these cold weapons still effective in the European and Pacific battlefields?
@@你看个锤子你看 Chinese engines are still relatively unchanged knock-offs of Soviet designs
Every comparison of the j20 is in relation to f35, it's very strange that you made it's comparison to the f22? 🤔
you got it very wrong. J-20 is compared to the F-22, whereas J-31 is to the F-35.

Many experts believed the Chinese has achieved 35% 3D printing of complex parts thus the number of annual aircraft production is logical.
