USS Kearsarge arrived today in Finland 🇫🇮, Hernesaari in Helsinki. It's a HUGE size😳.
I have never seen any ship carrying such a large number of helicopters, airplanes, and 2000 USA soldiers.
It's REALLY big😳.
I saw this ship here in Sweden few days ago! was astonished by it!

Wish it came to the "Week of Kiel", would be so cool to see it. But it was quite strange to see four Ospreys flying over Kiel. They are pretty loud.

For Putin the worst imaginable scenario took place when Finland decided to join NATO, now there are NATO fleet right next to him in a country that has 1800km long land border with them, also there are NATO troops on the ground all over Finland and so on. He got what he wanted, new iron curtain.
Sadly it did not come to kiel, but it looks awsome.
In every podcast about SEALs, and there are some of them around since not all ex SEALs choose to write the compulsory book, it’s said that the bellringers are sent to the regular navy to fight rust. Seems like they’ve been able to dodge the USS Kearsarge…

I see various media reports referring to the Kearsarge as an "aircraft carrier." I suppose in layman terms, it could be called that. It can launch a few aircraft. But the actual Ford class aircraft carriers are 2X to 2.5X as massive by whatever metric you prefer to use: displacement, crew, aircraft, armaments, etc.
Can they even fit trough Öresund?
