Nice work Keith, it's looking great ! I particularly like the way you explained the roof pitch, very clear and easy to understand, I know you made the slip with the marking up, but who hasn't done that ever ! It's going to be a very smart shed which should last for years so well worth the extra cost for the T&G in my opinion !

I had a nightmare with framing bifold doors in my garden room build, out of everything in that build, putting in the beading was the most intense and anger inducing part! 😂

Always have to admire people who can use a circular saw so consistently accurately. I wouldn’t trust myself, over the course of so many cuts I would be bound to be slightly out!

A master-class in shed building, you make it look so easy 🎉
I’m rebuilding a shed at the moment, replacing the rotten sections of uprights, flooring and cladding and have raised it all up 3” on bitumen painted beams to reduce the chance of future rot.
Comparing to your build I was considering using 16G brads to secure the replacement cladding but an article I read said that these don’t grip strongly enough and stainless collated/annular nails should be used instead. Another article said that you should only put 1 nail on the board width not two as boards expand more in their width than they do over their length, so two nails would leave the board more prone to splitting. The original shed has 2 nails per board but it sounds like good advice

great video, i recently build a 3.7x2.5 man cave/shed/workshop and i used feathered edge on the outside layer but my garden is a sun trap its got the sun in it as long as its daylight so constantly and i do regret it not buying tongue and groove log lap as the feathered edge has bowed warped and split in places, im going to be ripping it all off in the next month and re cladding it luckily its only 2 sides i need to do as the other 2 sides being close to the boundary have recycled/up cycled metal sheets from 2 old metal sheds we had.

How did this build feel, compared to that first workshop shed you put up at your old house? I wish I could afford to get you to replicate THIS build in my back yard, as I'd love a workshop for all my 'stccked-up-in-the-toolshed' tools. Sadly that will never be, but I can dream vicariously by watching your brothers back yard, grrrr😉

Been waiting for this installment and as expected, I wasn't disappointed. Fab video, and build work and great editing. Lots of wee chapters too would be helpful hint hint 😀 Just kidding! I'm seriously considering a big shed myself next year but it won't be this big. Lots of groundworks to be done first and with winter fast approaching who knows what I'll get done. Of course there's also a few power tools now on my xmas list! Good luck with the rest of the build and I can't wait to see the next installment and finished shed 🙂

Great content as always... On point without faffing about....one question though... Why choose upvc? This is just me but it spoils the natural look of timber...

Keith I enjoy watching your vids. But I'm wondering why you left the shed base sitting on blocks. Damp will go up through the blocks and into the timber. Even some damp proof strips in between would've helped.
Placing wood on dpc is a very bad idea as moisture will sit on it and soak in. DPC under blocks would be a better solution but I don't foresee any issues - plenty of airflow
It's the wick up through the concrete you need to worry about not the dampness in the air
I'm not worried about dampness in the air? Air displaces moisture as ventilation allows the wood to dry out. As mentioned, dpc under blocks would be the best solution here. My brother didn't do that, but it shouldn't be an issue as the timber is able to dry out in the air

Had a bit of trouble discerning between the pair of you at a few points. You're certainly cut from the same cloth you and your brother. The build is really good and agree with you on the corner bracing. A nuisance when it comes to insulation I imagine.
It’s looking good Keith I would have used my Milwaukee chop saw for cutting the boards and sorry mate but you will never make a window fitter 😂next time use a rubber hammer and hit it hard 👍can’t wait to see the chapter 😊
I don’t imagine that she roof will carry a lot of weight or snow but I noticed you didn’t give that large window a proper supported header, just a nogging really, I’d be concerned on whether the weight bearing down on the window might be too much
I am pretty sure that 2.5m restriction is if you are building within 1m of a boundary… basically so it is not an eyesore for your neighbour.

I thought in the damp old UK, you’d put sparking or some other type of membrane between the studs and external lining? Wouldn’t that help with waterproofing / moisture?. 🤔

Great video - very informative. I do have a question though. The shed is pretty close to the boundary. I thought if that was the case it had to be made of 'fire resistant' materials?

What guage nail gun would you use for 19mm x 150mm shiplap cladding?
Looks great and you are really knowing what youre doing so, my question is, why not a double header?
I thought that was the way to go in a build like this. I could be wrong and happy to learn.

Watching your struggle with the double glazing retaining bars brought flashbacks to my own struggles. It's the weirdest stuff. It absolutely refuses to fit where it's meant to until suddenly, it just does. Hate it

You mention the cladding being quite wet and talk about shrinkage, but you appear to have nailed close to the top and bottom edges of each piece of cladding. This will surely result in splits in the cladding as it tries to shrink with both edges fixed?

All those intricate cuts will shrink back and look horrible as soon as the sun gets at it. Cladding looks nice tho 👍🏼

Probably, although I don't use the saw very often so I'd rather work on the floor than find somewhere to store one 👍

Why would anyone complain about the height? It's within permitted development as explained ...
Why don’t people use furrings so much easier than building different height walls , they might be expensive but you can easily cut them decent straight timber 2,3 inch down to nothing
Cutting two angled walls is quicker than cutting 12 or however many furrings
I’ve just built a triangular shed to fit a corner plot, with the 90 degree corner of the shed being the high point. I used furring strips, but furring from the low wall up to the high point. Worked a treat, and you get a uniform wall height and flat ceiling. I cut one, and used it as a template for the rest. It took about 20 minutes with a track saw to make the rest. The shed is 4.5 x 4.5 on the square side, and about 7 metres on the hypotenuse wall. I would have struggled without furring strips.

@@dwalsh3469 I like it mate 👍, I’ve seen so many videos of people building sheds like this 🤦🏽♂️ work out the angle the fall for rain water , I built a garden room 8x6m you cut all your studs to the same measurement fix your joists in stick your furrings on t&g osb for the roof deck and then on the ends you stick another 2 furrings the opposite way as your drip edge and then when you go to put your facia on it’s all nice and level ! Ain’t got to mess around with scribes and crap like that
@@BE27E if you ever have the joy of a triangular build, or a rectangular build with upstands for roof lights etc, you can furring strip these quite easily it seems to me. They add a lot of versatility to a roof over an angled wall structure. No disrespect to Mr RN Brown - I’m a diy plod. Shoulders’ of Giants etc 💪
