    Good design. I modified it to incorporate my router table + table saw. One issue that I have is that the hinged support legs are not useful if the workbench is loaded with tools (too heavy to lift). So, I bought a jack ($25) to lift it up before dropping the support legs. I also used magnets to keep support legs UP when rolling the table outside of my garage. Thanks for posting.

    Two things impressed me. First, his design and craftsmanship. Second, how clean and square the lumber is.

    Ingenious design, simple and effective.
    Plus, you taught me something I've never known about my miter saw with that stop. I've been doing lap joints with a speed square and a circular saw.

    This is only the second video I've seen where someone set the depth of cut with a sliding miter saw. Well done.

    Great job DeKay! I like that you incorporated half-lap joints into this build. Since woodworking is just a hobby and I retired at 50, I have lots of time on hand. So, every week I try to learn a new joint. Right now I am trying some of the traditional Japanese joineries. Very challenging, but beautiful too. I'm a new Subscriber and I look forward to more videos!!

    Finally a simple build without the use of clamps and a table saw, so glad I found your channel

    Love the simple hinge idea, and how you used joints as well as glue and screws. That bench should serve you well for a long time. Since it allows me to use cheaper casters I'm going to use your idea on my bench. Thank you.

    Thanks for the calming music in the background and no speaking. Most guys make these videos to hear themselves talk and boy do they ever chatter away. Loved the hinged risers to keep the table from moving while using the table saw. I would add a bolt through the frame and into the riser to make sure it didn't move while pushing through wet or knotted lumber.

    I'm looking for ways to have a workbench that sits firmly on the floor but when needed that it can be moved on casters and this one definitely is the best option I have seen. Only things I would add is an eye hook that grabs the legs while moving the workbench on the casters so they are not damaged by scrapping the floor (my floor is very rough) and probably some latch to avoid accidentally kicking the legs while working (I have a small workbench and many times I kick the casters). Beautiful design and craftsmanship, congrats!

    That retractable leg system easily beats out hundred dollar products. And not just on the cost aspect, what I like about it is it is neat and does not protrude several inches out of the table's footprints in the default "fixed" mode.

  • @electronicscavenger2667
    @electronicscavenger2667 2 роки тому

    wow nice job. Just a thought on the legs though you could put a magnet in each foot and it would snap to the sides, and you could still kick them down, and they wouldn't drag on the ground. Great job.

    Flip legs were great - I am implementing those. My garage floor is very uneven, but some simple bungees or thin ropes to keep the wood from catching should solve that for me. :)

      Agreed a great project but if you look carefully there is some space left to flip down the legs and the shadow of the 8' cut piece shows that too.
