This concept is SOOO refreshing, witches and Sailor Moon-esque aesthetics and having an interesting little plot going on, and also very liminal place-ish, with a very fast paced, catchy and cool beat and melody, a very fitting and cool choreography with voguing included, I looove it. An MV is not automatically bad because it is only a dance performance, the issue is the lack of originality of labels to make and bring good production ideas to the music industry and resort to good sets and dance by default out of laziness or lack of good investment management. You have dance scenes in this MV, but it works here because it is implemented within the whole production and has meaning. Edit: at the end of the day, the choreography aspect of Kpop is what actually made Kpop a thing and different from other worldwide music products in the first place
Explaining the plot: the girls were swimming in the pool (except Gaeul). Gaeul left and went to find the powerful magic curse wand which was held by fallen angels because it's so powerful because the girls got possessed by the fallen angels (that's what I'll call the because of the girlies clip is shown in the music video). Which she manage to steal it without those angels knowing the other (fallen) angels. The term 'Accenido' means setting on fire. Which the wand has the power of setting dangerous relationships to the girl's selves to create authority themselves within this powerful wand. Which has a lot of force according to the receipt "if you protect this magic wand til 12am, you will gain this magic force". Gaeul was gone for 4 hours straight because of that which made Liz worry and called her but Gaeul didn't have her phone because either she left it or lost it. It's most likely the fallen angels in this video was worshipping the wand because it's either powerful made by the God (because of "dear preist, I have a confession to make"). The fallen angels found out within their mirror they have which sees EVERYTHING (Remember, in religion the devil basically never sleeps according to the Bible, which has connections to this MV). Which the good side got rid of that possessed by those fallen angels casted a spelling to the good side. Eventually the good side had now authority with this spell. The fallen (bad side of) angels found out and eventually broke in and had a fight. The good side had won eventually and the bad side turned into rats by the spell. Gaeul put the wand in the fridge but later when 12:02am hit, the girls went to check on the wand, it was gone because the girls were supposed to protect it in their hands. Overall this song is nothing but super addiciting I had to rewatch and pause this music video even tho it came out four months ago. This is super good no joke. Please stream it.

I am glad she’s getting more singing parts and chances to show off her acting. Her tone is super unique, and her facial expressions are underrated since Yujin and Liz are also in the group.
In this MV, it seems like the "good" IVE is being hypnotized/possessed/under spell by the "evil" IVE when the good IVE was in the pool. Gaeul noticed there is something wrong with them (0:00-0:06 notice how all 5 of them were in slow motion in the beginning and 0:07 Wonyoung calling her to go to the pool) that's why she refused to go to the pool, went out, found the evil IVE and removed the Accendio wand, and stole it - thus undoing the spell on or the possession of good IVE. During the time Gaeul left the house up to when the wand was removed, it was only seconds for the 5 members (0:14 see how Rei counted for 8 seconds before they got back up) but for Gaeul, 4 hours has passed (1:25). When the wand was removed in the triangular mirror stand, the spell was undone, and good IVE went back to normal. The wand in the fridge disappeared because even though good IVE was able to defeat evil IVE and turn them into rats, they were not able to physically hold the Accendio wand by midnight, and it magically disappeared into the ocean. The wand seems to have an affinity with water (pool, ocean) and reflections (the existence of another "self"/doppelgangers, use of mirrors, the triangular mirror stand of the wand, the dance battle happening in an alternate/mirror dimension). Overall, LOVE the song and this music video!!! Some fans thought that Gaeul won't have enough screentime because of the trailer, but guess what, SHE IS THE MAIN CHARACTER!!! Actress Gaeul is here???! The transformation scene is JUST. SO. COOL. Rei is literally Sailor Moon 2.0, Leeseo as Cardcaptor Sakura 2.0, Wonyoung summong the wand is so anime-esque!!!
Nice analysis. But one part I don't agree with is about the passing of time. When Gaeul is away to steal the magic wand, the other girls try to call her smartphone 13 times (0:32). So it's not just only seconds for the members, they've been waiting and worrying about Gaeul for a long time.

@@simpayshenaides Accendio is a title track though! IVE have always said this comeback had a double title track but apparently it wasn’t clear because most people seem to treat Accendio as a Bside. Maybe it was not promoted very well? Anyway Supernova is dominating right now (I am a Supernova addict too!) but since Accendio came out first, I thought the song could have had its moment as well. I am sad it didn’t really make noise. Smart was a great trendy song, but it is not really the kind of songs people are waiting from IVE, is it? I think it would not suit them as much. I don’t know what kind of song IVE should do next to have a new viral moment. As a fan I just want them to stay a top group of their generation. I hope doing good music is enough, even if it’s not always viral.

I think having multiple music videos each comeback confuses the casual listeners who just want to listen to one title track, and songs like Accendio and Off The Record end up being ignored. Kpop fans are used to one title track that clearly defines an era and possibly one pre release. Some groups like Newjeans still manage to do it differently and make it work, but it’s rare. It’s sad because personally I love that IVE can give us different kinds of songs in the same comeback. Maybe they need to make sure that they really solidify their fanbase first, so that they will always have people to support all their songs.

I am glad she’s getting more singing parts and chances to show off her acting. Her tone is super unique, and her facial expressions are underrated since Yujin and Liz are also in the group.

In this MV, it seems like the "good" IVE is being hypnotized/possessed/under spell by the "evil" IVE when the good IVE was in the pool. Gaeul noticed there is something wrong with them (0:00-0:06 notice how all 5 of them were in slow motion in the beginning and 0:07 Wonyoung calling her to go to the pool) that's why she refused to go to the pool, went out, found the evil IVE and removed the Accendio wand, and stole it - thus undoing the spell on or the possession of good IVE.
During the time Gaeul left the house up to when the wand was removed, it was only seconds for the 5 members (0:14 see how Rei counted for 8 seconds before they got back up) but for Gaeul, 4 hours has passed (1:25). When the wand was removed in the triangular mirror stand, the spell was undone, and good IVE went back to normal.
The wand in the fridge disappeared because even though good IVE was able to defeat evil IVE and turn them into rats, they were not able to physically hold the Accendio wand by midnight, and it magically disappeared into the ocean. The wand seems to have an affinity with water (pool, ocean) and reflections (the existence of another "self"/doppelgangers, use of mirrors, the triangular mirror stand of the wand, the dance battle happening in an alternate/mirror dimension).
Overall, LOVE the song and this music video!!! Some fans thought that Gaeul won't have enough screentime because of the trailer, but guess what, SHE IS THE MAIN CHARACTER!!! Actress Gaeul is here???!

Nice analysis. But one part I don't agree with is about the passing of time. When Gaeul is away to steal the magic wand, the other girls try to call her smartphone 13 times (0:32). So it's not just only seconds for the members, they've been waiting and worrying about Gaeul for a long time.

@@simpayshenaides Accendio is a title track though! IVE have always said this comeback had a double title track but apparently it wasn’t clear because most people seem to treat Accendio as a Bside. Maybe it was not promoted very well?
Anyway Supernova is dominating right now (I am a Supernova addict too!) but since Accendio came out first, I thought the song could have had its moment as well. I am sad it didn’t really make noise.
Smart was a great trendy song, but it is not really the kind of songs people are waiting from IVE, is it? I think it would not suit them as much.
I don’t know what kind of song IVE should do next to have a new viral moment. As a fan I just want them to stay a top group of their generation. I hope doing good music is enough, even if it’s not always viral.
@@alexmangogoI think they should’ve released Accendio before Heya because Heya took all of the spotlight since it was there first CB this year, same thing happened with Off the record, Baddie took all the spotlight. And Heya is more promoted as a Title than Accendio hence it makes sense.

I think having multiple music videos each comeback confuses the casual listeners who just want to listen to one title track, and songs like Accendio and Off The Record end up being ignored. Kpop fans are used to one title track that clearly defines an era and possibly one pre release. Some groups like Newjeans still manage to do it differently and make it work, but it’s rare. It’s sad because personally I love that IVE can give us different kinds of songs in the same comeback. Maybe they need to make sure that they really solidify their fanbase first, so that they will always have people to support all their songs.

They are starting to go back to making music videos instead of glorified dance practices lol. This is how music videos should be done in my opinion. Dancing is cool but a story behind your song will sell it a bit better.

I get how HARD must be to create an aesthetic that fit the group and cannot be categorized as a generic cute or girl-crush concept.
