- 4wide.com - Kevin Harvick was complaining about the car and said he "can't believe people get paid to work on it." After a comment from Richard Childress, Harvick replied "I'm tired of hearing your excuses Richard." Richard Childress: "I will be talking to you later buddy."
It was quiet until Kevin needed to get tires. He asked how they looked. When told, he said "I guess we didn't check ALL the tires that good huh Richard." That is when Childress said "just drive the car - that's what you get paid to do."
It was quiet the rest of the race other than comments about laps left, lap times, fuel, etc.
Harvick finished 12th in the CARFAX 400 at Michigan.

2009 was the was an embarrassing year for RCR. When you send someone like Harvick to Phoenix and you're running 30th 2 laps down, you know the organization is in disarray.
Childress was wanting another Dale Earnhardt. He didn't care about Kevin Harvick. If Childress had treated Harvick like the true racer he is, he would have gotten another championship. Instead, he handed Harvick to SHR on a silver platter. Leaving RCR was the best decision Harvick ever made.
At the rate harvick has won in top equipment at shr, if he had that his whole career he’d have 85-100 wins as of now

Kevin dominates most of the races this year and wins the championship. RCR wins zero races, 31 only has 4 top 5's, and they pretty suck as an organization this year. I think Harvick won the argument.
Childress & Roush racing have really fallen off. Roush use to be like Hendrick, Mark Martin,Jeff Burton,Greg Biffle,Matt Kenseth all kicked ass.
Harvick was tired of driving junk at RCR, so he moved onto SHR. Senile old Richard is so worked up about his middle of the pack grandsons he didn't give Kevin what he needed and Harvick still won 4 races in 2013. Look for Harvick to win 6+ races in his first year with SHR.
harvick will never win six races next year..maybe one.

Harvick is a top-tier driver on an average team. I can guarantee you that if Harvick was on Hendrick Motorsports, he would do a heck of alot better than Dale jr. did this year (the only Hendrick driver not to finish in the top 3....he got 23rd).

A mid tier driver? How many mid tier drivers have a daytona 500 victory, brickyard 400 win, all star race win, 2 nationwide titles and has only missed the chase once? RCR has been struggling mightily as of the last few seasons. If you consider RCR a top tier team then you should also consider the ten year old next door to be a top-tier auto mechanic. Harvick isnt overrated, he doesnt wreck half the field at the daytona 500, he doesnt CONSISTANTLY miss his pit stall or wreck others and blame them
RCR needs another driver like Kevin Harvick obviously when you have young drivers you’re trying to develop into the driver that Kevin Harvick is it’s going to take some time how Kevin Harvick has had raw talent and he show that he won the rookie of the year his rookie season and obviously now he’s a NASCAR Cup Series champion but him driving the 29 car with the BF Goodrich white paint scheme people put so much pressure on him because they wanted him to be the next Dale Earnhardt but clearly he is not Dale Earnhardt because there won’t be another “Intimidator” or “Iron-Head”in NASCAR, it would definitely be nice to see Richard Childress get another driver that wants to be the leader of RCR it’s cool to see Ty (13 car) and Austin Dillon (3 car) trying to carry out Richard Childress’s legacy but even his grandsons are no match for Dale Earnhardt he is truly a legend and he is still an iconic figure in NASCAR even 20 years after his tragic death on the last lap of the 2001 Daytona 500 !!
I've came back to this video after several years. This is one of those rare occasions where you can sit back with a cold, tall glass of 'I told you so'. All the haters can finally eat the crow that they so justly deserve.
Harvick went out on top with a cup championship, a Daytona 500 win, 2 Coke 600 wins, 2 Southern 500 wins, 3 Brickyard 400 wins, 2 all star race wins, more wins than anyone else at Phoenix (9), and a plethora of other accomplishments. Ended up with 60 career wins. He only had 11 when this race took place in 2009. SHR was Harvick's single greatest decision and it paid dividends immediately. I knew they were destined for greatness when he won on his 2nd start at SHR (at Phoenix no less, lol) in 2014. Hopefully, Keelan will continue to grow and we'll see him follow in his father's footsteps to motorsports greatness.
Thank you Kevin, it was an honor and a privilege to follow you through your racing career. Here's to hoping that there are many more sucesses to follow.✌️
I saw him win two Winston West races (Altamont & Sonoma) when nobody knew who he was in 1998. That was while he was doing double duty and driving a full season in the Craftsman Truck series as well. He went on to be the Winston West champion in 1998 and later the 2001 Busch Series champion while driving a full season in Cup when he replaced Dale Sr.
Harvick was another phenom like Jeff Gordon and Jimmie Johnson. If it wasn’t for the “playoffs” and they went by a full season points championship like they used to pre-2004, Gordon would be a 7-time Cup champ, Harvick a 4-time champ and Johnson a 3-time champ.

I do not think anybody else could of handled moving into that ride any better than KH did. People need to remember he understood you can't replace a legend, and never tried. The morons in the press & fans out of touch with reality put the kid through hell with that bullshit of replacing Dale Sr.. The long and short of it was at the end of it all RCR had a business to run and a commitment to sponsors as well nascar. Is that cold blooded? Not a bit and Dale Sr. having his team would of done the same thing if it would of happened to someone on his own team.

Harvick is getting the last laugh now RCR is no longer a championship conteneder with menard Dillon and newman. He was the second best driver in RCR history but he just wanted to make his grandchildren like the next dale Earnhardt's but there not nearly the caliber that he thought they would be.

I'll admit, I didn't like the idea at first either. It's grown on me though. I'm glad Clint hopped into Michael Waltrip Racing. 2nd in points in his first year with the team, I'd say that's a damn good year. :)

In a huge huge SHR fan so obviously now I'm a huge Harvivk fan. The world is seeing now how great of a driver he really is. It's a shame about RCR. Today he has a gem in Tyler Reddick. If he decides to continue to let Austin get the best equipment than he is without a doubt going to lose the best young driver. Sorry but RCR is done. I wont knock the drivers. But Austin is what he is. The only savior RCR has is to give Reddick the top equipment and tell Austin he is the 2nd guy on the garage

Kevin Harvick would never fit in at Hendrick Motorsports. Hendrick wants his drivers to be polished and politically correct. Harvick would be better at JGR or SHR.

Can you blame him? That team was horrible for quite a few years, and Richard Childress, as much as I admire him, was an absentee owner a lot in that time, and was not as involved as he should have been.
After these criticisms from KH, and the talks he had with RC, and threats to go to a different team if changes weren't made, the 29 has been one of the top teams since the start of 2010.
This is a team sport, period. No matter how good the driver is, the rest of the team has to be good too.
Richard focuses too much on his grand kids. I'm a fan of them, but right now that organization focuses too much on them in the trucks and NNS that the Cup Teams aren't preforming. I thought joining MWR would kill Clint Bowyer's career, but it saved his career.

is great. Harvick ain’t got no reason for that attitude .Thats why he didn’t win . Harvick got to big for his Britches at RCR. Sometimes chemistry is just not their and it was time for him to move on he is a great driver one of the best But I can tell you he won’t get that attitude with Tony Stewart. Tony will give him some act right.Anyway long story short sometimes agree to disagree move on but I can’t believe he would talk to Richard Childress that way man he gave him a great opportunity and that’s disrespectful. I grew up a JG fan but I immediately appreciated Harvick’s personality. I kinda wish Jeffie woulda been more like Harv, Then again nobody could be like him. He’s truly 1 of a kind genuine bad ass. Also you can't say that Earnhardt would've only had 5 because under the old system if the points leader had a large lead at the end of the season they would race very very conservatively, therefore making any comparison to the chase format irrelevant .

I know people on the inside of the sport and know things that really go on in this sport that you have no clue about. He talks to his crew chief like he's a piece a trash when one little thing goes wrong. Intense or not they get paid 12 million dollars a year to do what they're doing. Kids and everyone can hear what they're saying. Jimmy Spencer would brake Harvick in TWO.

Respond to this video... I tell you what, Harvick would have lasted about 2 seconds in the old days when racing was still racing. Somebody like Tim Richmond or Cale, or Buddy Baker would've sent his ass to the house with his tail hanging between his legs. Low classed, mouthy punk is all harvick is.
