Alex, you need to do one of these picking adventures live so we could all tell you which items to grab that we could buy from you. I am sure that I am not the only viewer who saw things I would have bought that you left behind. One of my favorite things in this video was the stained glass lamp shade which you mentioned but didn't take. These kind of videos never get old so keep them coming!
Wish I lived in Canada. I would be in heaven on that ladies property. I noticed the furniture, really my style. Hope someone sees and rescues all those old vehicles. AWESOME.
Easy Bake oven, Sears catologe and the glass bottle in the cabinet left behind treasures. Really if desiring things could get them to me all 3 of those would be on thier way. Have a great day!!
I'm so glad German Bill came with you. He added to the pick just by being there and to the drive in case of trouble, nice not to be alone. Beautiful day, fun adventure.
You are a true treasurer hunter. You are always touching stuff with your bare hands.. I love watching you and how you work so hard to provide for your family.
My apartment is in an old school in Ft. Worth that was built in 1900. It was remodeled 20 years ago into apartments. Near down town in the arts district. I love old buildings and abandoned buildings. Thanks for sharing!! Enjoyed it.
In your intro where you say . . ."never know what's going to happen." You got that right! Love it. That school house is very Andrew Wyeth looking!! So cool!!!
Excellent video. You mentioned how important it is for that older generation to pass down their knowledge. Couldn’t agree more. It’s important for guys our age to have mentors in our hobbies too.
This was fun! I wonder why they would store old violins and guitars in an unheated shed. They could warp very easily. Please do an unboxing so we can see what you purchased in more detail. Thanks for taking us along.
I noticed the subtle change in the intro with Abigail in the replica of the first Mercedes instead of the Ghostbusters team. Thanks for this video, Alexander :)
Such an adventure. My dad is almost 84 and after, collecting since he was young, he said it's time to get rid of stuff. He's been clearing the yard for the last couple of months and will eventually move onto the trailers and buildings. When you mentioned that this gentleman was 90 and who would know better of what cylinder would go on what vehicle, you were so right! One reason why it's better for my dad downsize now, rather than us kids deal with it later. People have been buying the old bicycles, of which he had many.
There is something a little heart wrenching seeing such amazing old vehicles rusting away in the woods. I am always amazed at how much money those old Sears catalogs, especially the Christmas ones, sell for online!!
It's always amazing to me that the owners of some of these types of places know exactly what they have and where it is even with 11 buildings full. When he's gone, people will just thing he was keeping so much junk. That will be you Alex in 60 years! We rode Honda 90s all over the Colorado mountains back when I was a kid. There was nowhere they couldn't go.
Seeing all those old cars in the trees brought back memories of my childhood playing in the old cars abandoned in the trees on my grandmother's farm in Northern Wisconsin.
That was so interesting Alexander! Hi to German Bill, great of him to accompany you on your adventure, he seems to be a gentle soul and it's a great thing you do to think of him and include him. It's always a good idea to have an extra set of eyes as well. You sure did have an early start to your day!
So cool, Alex! I thought of you yesterday when I went on my first real pick (at the tender age of 54!). Got to explore 4 sheds and a home built in 1930 FULL of "collected" pottery, clothing, and Christmas items. What wonderful adventures you've taken us on!
The bottle you had on one the the house redo’s was a bottle for laundry starch. My mother in law would sprinkle the starch on the clothes put in the refrigerator. Then next day iron all the clothes. Just wanted you to know. Thanks Nancy
Yes! The color was brought me back! I begged for mine before getting one. Kind of was hoping he'd buy that so we could see it close up. Its the 1st one I've seen, funny how the memories of those little chocolate cakes came flooding back.
@@KathYoder5256 You are so lucky! It would be nice if he would get something like that...they are VERY wanted. Seems its just hot wheels and old cars he finds interesting.
I have admired your sense of fairness and respect for the owners of the treasures you collect. That and the fact that you obviously make a very nice living from your curiosity. But I must say, my esteem for you leapt by several large degrees due to the fact that you also can do provisional road repairs on your own vehicle. Especially with only the tools you keep in the glove box. MAJOR KUDOS!!
LOVE the new truck, 🧡💛💚💙 it SOUNDS awesome as well and I am in love with the color. THIS particular green is not something you see very often. I hope you keep it, and put some "curiosity inc" elegant lettering on it somewhere. In the old style like the store has. LOVED this episode too!!!! This is absolutely why I *started* following your channel, and also why I KEEP coming back. Every now and then you do this wonderful "picking" and thank you for taking us along. You’re pretty brave with your truck Alex. I think I would’ve driven it around the town for a few days before I took it on a long trip. Good luck on your ride home!
The great thing about those older vehicles is that to fix an issue all you need is pliers and a screwdriver. Cars now days need a computer to analyze and fix up is big bucks.. I've made more than a few roadside repairs during my travels in a multitude of States over the years. The worst challenge was a sticky throttle on my '77 F150 4x4 during my pregnancy. I had a LOONGG screwdriver so I could reach the carb to free up the throttle when it would stick wide open. Only happened a couple of times before it got fixed but it's a funny memory. My landlord in Connecticut back in the 70's had a Star. His parents bought it new in the 20's. He knew it was a rare vehicle. It was his pride and joy!
We used to have an old 70s era wood paneled station wagon that apparently had sludge in the tank. My husband had a box of fuel line filters he kept in the car for the times the one in the engine would get clogged and we'd sputter out in the middle of the freeway in Southern California. What an adventure. He'd get out, lift the hood, take out the clogged one, pop in the new one, and we'd be on our way. He used to carry a short straw with him to blow out the clogged one at first because the first couple of times he blew it out he didn't have a straw and got gas on his lips. Yuck! But when he saw how cheap the filters were he just bought a whole bunch. When he reached the last in the box he went through with the straw and blew them all out so they could be re-used.
I noticed that too. Jane West's horse was named Blaze wasn't he? I found an articulated version of him for $15 at an antique barn here in our town so I grabbed it. Instead of Barbies my parents gave me a Jane West complete set for Christmas when I was 9 or so. I loved that set. We had many adventures in the woods behind my house.
