I've been camping plenty of times, but I just learned a LOT. Never saw that dogbone or crossing the stakes before.
I learn at least two or three new things in each of your videos. Sure beats watching commercial television.
Good stake out with the canoe, good height, two people good, lot of room. Just got my replacement tarp from Tentsmith, Yeah new tie outs. Deer camp went well only two showed, lot of deer only one gave an affordable shot, NEF-bp, done. The alpaca blanket did very well, OH. temp was 16-19 degrees with 4" snow, as long as I had a good fire, great, about every 3 hrs, woke up cold had to feed the fire, good for another 3 hrs. Never got it wet, so unknown about wet alpaca's quality wet, VERY soft. Thanks Dave
Dave I love how you make the simplest things interesting , Thank you.
Loving my boreal wool shirt, glad to see Sir Dave wearing his. Great kit from a great guy
I liked the ideas with the dog bone and with the cross staking. Thanks for the tips Dave.
I am always amazed at the level of bushcrafting know how you have Dave. Thanks for another interesting video.
Thanks for sharing, Dave. I love your attention to detail.
As always, thanks for all you do Dave.
That cross staking is one top tip that I've never thought of, will be using that in the soft forest floors I get out in. I just use an adjustable knot on the guy line though instead of the dog bone you created, less work and saves your tools edges.
From one vet to another thank you...learn something new everday. Never seen the cross staking method. The dog bone you made for the guy line reminds me of the old GP tents guy line system.
This series has been really excellent!
Great video, Dave. I wish that I was able to make it to one or more of your classes. Being in the military makes it much harder to just go out for a few days at a time to just live off the land and enjoy myself. I appreciate all your videos and vast knowledge that you share with all of us that aren't able to do what you do every day. Thanks for sharing another great video.
that dog bone was simple and effective , awesome . Thx for sharing Dave.
wildernes outfitters drinking game... Any time Dave save "just like this" take a shot. everytime he says bank line sip your beer. Of course, play in moderation.
that cross stake pointer is freakin genius. never thought of that. awesome
I prefer my "steaks" made out of beef! Thank you for the continued knowledge and teachings Mr. Canterbury.
Again Great info Dave, and by the way I love that old Case Folder you were using
I wish I had the time to go out and do stuff like this more! Currently redoing my woodland EDC bag as a "Sir Dave" bag.
Thanks for the great lesson Dave.. I will apply this knowledge someday! Happy holidays - Alex and Joyce (your fans)
Good information. I will forever be a student, so much to learn!
Hey Dave I love all your vids keep up the good work. I have another place people can find bank line for a good price fishing supply stores jts called siene twine it comes jn many colors as long as you get black jts tarred and the same thing as bank line for the big rolls its any where from 10 to 18 dollars. I live in the pacific northwest the seattle area we have a lot of commercial fishing suppliers here thats where i get my bank line. I have not found it cheaper any where else. You just have to remember to call it siene twine i asked for bank line and the guh bad no idea what i was talking about. You can google fishermans supply stores in wa stae and find a tore that you can order it from online. I had to share thus with fellow woods men and figured one of your vids whould be the best place. Thank you Dave for sharing all of youu knowledge with all of us you are a great man!!!
Yep, definitely the best channel on UA-cam! Would it be a good idea to fire harden the tips of the stakes?
Nice set up! Dave

You're the best Sir! Please don't stop making videos :)
Aluminum soda/pop/beer can tabs work as a cheap, light & easy to carry adjustable guy-line "dog-bones" too.
The stake on top of other stake is a great idea. Thx for the vid

You can get a 36", 3/8" oak dowel from Home Depot for $1.40.

..bill
That's great...
To bad I always end up kicking my guy line, or stripping over it.. or stepping on the stake. LOL
Thanks for the great video Dave.
Good tips!
tautline hitch will work as well.
Outstanding
Man Dave your Axe is sharp, dont know if I can get my Home despot (lol) special that sharp I may need to use a grinder first! or file.
How do you keep the water from the ground away from your browse bed?
Thanks
That's one muddy campsite!
It's not what he does but the way that he does it. Knife techniques!
Good
Good info, thanks for the tips. looks like y'all got some snow too. just curious, is that wool anorak you're wearing as warm as the wool coat ?
Excellent video!
Do the dog bones ever slip in windy conditions? Or, does the friction from the taught line always keep it in place?
thanks for the tips on the dog bone and cross staking. Would you have to use a different method if the ground was frozen?
Hey Dave, getting an error when trying to play. I'll check back later. Thanks
Been watching the Journal of the Yurt series again, were you ever going to do a journal of the cave like you mentioned ?
always learn simple things that are obvious soon as you demonstrate them
Would you fire harden the tip of the stakes?
Tried n true tip. Nice
i always thought they were called "guide lines".
what is the name for hats like that
How do you get a fire close enough to do you any good for heating I winter camping with guy lines in the way?
Is there a huge difference between the weights of bankline? You talk about #36 bank line. I found a 1LB roll of #48 for $9.99 so I bought it. Will I notice a huge difference between #36 and #48?
Dave, we know you carry at least 2 small saws, your little folding saw and the one in your multi tool. Why would you baton on that beautiful Case knife and take the risk of going to hell? Good video.
i like my steaks cooked medium rare thank you. ;)
