I'm not a Utd. fan, but did admire them in the pre Ferguson days. I remember where I was when news came through about the crash. I was playing in an indoor five a side tournament at the time, and we all stopped playing as we took in the enormity of the accident. The tournament was cancelled and we all trooped out of the building. I vividly remember the silence as we walked away, wending our way home.

I lost my old man in February & I remember watching this film with him & numerous times throughout he’d say how gutted he was that he never got to see Duncan Edwards & The Busby Babes.
There’s a line in the film by the policeman who says “The whole country loved these lads” and never a truer word has been spoke
Because my dad was a Wolves fan who had a great side too back then but all he could remember as a 15 year old was he was going to get to see them play but unfortunately we all know what happened
Forget Sir Alex’s sides, Bill Nicholson’s Spurs, Cloughie’s Forest, Shankly & Paisley’s Pool teams, 50’s Wolves team etc etc etc
This team was the BEST this countries ever had. Legends one & all

My father played in the junior sides 49-52 alongside some of these boys, Billy Whelan, Dave Pegg, Geoff Bent, Mark Jones, Jackie Blanchflower. Obviously he knew Sir Matt and Jimmy. For a couple of reasons it didn't quite work out for him, not that he wasn't good enough (50-51 Season 31 Goals in 34 matches) for the Colts and A Team. Despite my questions he wouldn't speak about his time at United much, I think Munich broke him deep inside and it was just too painful to talk about. The irony is, all my life he was a City supporter.
