- Almost felt sorry for her sitting idle for three months followed by a week of sub-zero weather decided to give the old girl a run! I know the vid is slow to get to the point and yes she is on three cyl to start but hey.....Part of the fun. Un-edited.

When I was a young Agricultural Engineer we use to always start the Majors first in bad weather then we would pull start the modern stuff that would be difficult to start. The Major would start with minimal battery capacity some with mechanical wind up starters were even easier. The Fordson Major and Super Major probably the best Tractor built in the 1950's and early 1960!
Yes sir. 20 he changed the battery
they probly were one of the best tractors ever made
We got Fordson Super Major -64 and Massey Ferguson 135 Perkins AD 3.152. Fine tractors.
Great old Tractors some where fitted with mechanical windup starter motors. These particular machines had an inline pump that could push anything, oil, muck even frozen fuel. The lovely noise is actually the injection pump.
You should put a cover on the exhaust pipe to keep rain and snow out of it
Love the way when it started he let it idle smart
very good starter! nice power major.
Beautiful sound
great Fordson! beautiful tractor
The one we had , had a decompression lever on the valves . We lived way up in the mountains of central south island New Zealand and it used to get very cold up there . We also had two Case TK 1200's that could really deal to snow . One big snow we had was five feet deep and killed 800 of our sheep . Ah , the memories . Ha !
Excellent start. Great reliable tractor
Ah the Fordson Power Major. My father had a cold start method for Majors.
He would do the morning milking, put a small bonfire under the tractor, go in for breakfast, come back out and strike it up.
Thinking on, Elf and safety would have a fit
g8ymw Nice
Bonfire ? What a load of crap
@@pistolpeds We often used to put paraffin heaters under engine sumps in those days to make starting easier. If not available, a small fire. Why not, as long as it's under control? Same thing for when it was really cold and the diesel froze. The UK's not like that now, of course.
GOTTA LOVE THOSE OLD FORDS ! RUN 4 EVER , THANKS .
Ohh man than uncovered exhaust is a awesome idea....
wow great sound !
This sound is amazing ❤️😍
she's a beauty
You should leave a bean tin over the open exhaust manifold mate,to stop the rain/snow getting in there, just a thought .
pegknife you don't need too the u in the bottom of the exhaust manifold has a drain hole in it.
@@MarkWright1963 Majors always have drainhole there.
I'll dare bet when modern tractors are as old, there won't be many running. Over complex electronic engine management nightmare!
British engineering, nice & simple, was always going to start 😊😊😊😊👍👍👍👍
like it old Ford alwais start !
I always get a bit sad when I see nice tractors like that outside with no roof over it or cover.
this is because today's people lost respect for the hard work of engineers, who created those internal combustion engines....
+persiuntimu emeilas - Yeah that is true
@@sukhmaidickoff they are working machines at the end of the day, not humans
@@46harry Yeah of course I know that. But when you buy a new car, do you just treat that like shit too? I mean rev it to 7.000 when it´s cold? Wash it only one time every 3 years? You sound a bit like my sister. Her car probably has 2.000 dents and she doesn´t mind rev´ing her car to the mentioned 7.000 rpm when its cold. She just doesn´t cara a bit. Me on the other hand - I can spend 30-40 hours on machine polishing my car and making it look like brand new. I get every little scratch fixed, because I can´t stand looking at it. I have a Ford 4100 tractor from 1981 that is parked inside and that I try to keep in as good a shape as possible. I like everything that has an engine, whether it is a tractor, a car or a motorbike. About my own cars and tractor, it just gives me joy seeing it in good condition, and if I spend 50.000 Euros on a car I also treat it well. Maybe it´s just me who is strange. But I guess we are just different when it comes to that
@@sukhmaidickoff suppose your beloved Ford 4100 never leaves your gorgeous heated shed does it? wouldn't want to get the tires dirty would you? Get a grip
A major will always start...they're renown for it. If it don't start, there's something wrong! Simple as that!
I just got a 54 major with a front loader. starts great. noticed pulsing coolant hose. Head gasket? Also when I only use it for the loader or in the winter to blade snow it wet stacks any idea how I can stop that. I'm thinking about a PTO hydraulic pump hooked to a restricting valve and a small reservoir to simulate load on the engine and just let it recirculate into itself?
i rather a slow to the point video like this than one that lasts 20 seconds. Keep it up SuperCellal :-)

SUPER MACHINE VERY GOOD
Top audio - music to my ears
I wondered if it was going to go. Reminds me of our Fordson Major Diesel, one of my few memories of my Grandpa was driving the Fordson through the grove, I was on Grandpa's lap. We called it the Blue Goose, I was sad when Dad traded it off on a 60 John Deere a few years after Grandpa died.
Great video.
cool ! we have a super dexta from the 50''s, she's start everytime, Original engine..still purs fine.. after all those years
Cute dog :-)
That's a good tractor.
-1С* - non Cold Start!!! Greetings from Russia!
chudotxt and from norway😂
VERY VERYGOOD fordson major tractor
Looking at this clip make my blood boil,!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
nice video and dog too
I like that it turned the snow black
you leave an old Fordson out side? poor Fordson! give it a shelter, and make it last longer and not rust away in the elements. their, their poor Fordson lol
Im keeping mine.got it with spare motor although the spare motor is in pieces. Sounds great
Nice sound was when it started :) Sorry for my english.
Red Niva Team the nice noise comes from the mechanical fuel pump.
Una pregunta por qué mi fordson power major pasa la valvulina (lubricante) de la transmisión para el diferencial
Dog pissing at the beginning. Why not :D Nice video by the way
yeah it's good to get it running for sometimes so it doesn't rust from the inside and the battery health of course because car batteries it tries to keep the water from freezing inside vehicle 12 volt batteries
3 cylinder should start first turn of the key lol that major would be mint with a proper roll bar
I think most farmers back in the day abused their equipment terribly. What a great old tractor.
Nice, but cant you keep it in a barn?
So beautiful
Yeah! Diesel power!
A good post. What year is this Fordson.?
i had a 1950s reconditioned engine and an old tractor which had been in a pond for years.i stripped the old girl down and much to my supprise the gears were not rusty i think the fact that they were completely submerged in water no air got to them and saved them.i fitted a new clutch and rebuilt the tractor with parts i had lying around, when i sold the tractor if you set it up correctly it was impossible to turn it over compression without it starting, regards g cooper
good engine
how do you start it
Do you get any wet stacking in winter. I assume you use it to plow. I am getting some wet stacking when I plow. I cant get the engine hot enough to give a good fuel burn.
In the winter I take off a screen and slipping a piece of cardboard to totally cover the radiator. I live in northern Wisconsin USA and she gets mighty cold here. They definitely run a little warmer with that radiator covered up.
@@calvinkalmon6746 I'm in south east Michigan I know ur pain
It starts better than my F-250 inter diesel
i would say cover it whit a sail or something or set it in a shed, you have a lovley tractor over there it would be a shame to let it rot away. think about it :P
Why don,t you get these old machines inside, they are worth it?I use a Massey Ferg ie 165.and always under cover when not in use.
one whole month of sub zero W O W ,come to Montreal Canada buddy sub zero lasts for at least 3 to 4 months, some people have trouble doing a cold start from their beds haha
You remind me of my youth
Nice
Some engine cold start shit these thing just start up whatever I have one it started after 15 years
Nézd már nincs pilóta és megy a gáz!!
Another thought ,if no chance of garage why not a holding sheet.
stil starts better than a 4 cyl 35
Dan T j phone t
She runs well! My ford 4600 is a lot harder to start in cold weather
piston head 1243 the 4600 had a terrible 3 cylinder engine that is why.
Mark Wright put a new set of injectors in it and she’s perfect now. Please elaborate on how it’s a terrible engine
power
diesel engine?
A sheet over it wouldn't hurt anything ,the mudguards'l be through i a couple of years through pure neglect.
new tractors may be good but they just don´t sound right.
draug79 they sound too cheap
How much water do you get in the cylinders when you leave the exhaust exposed like that?
Malthe jørgensen you don't, The Fordson Major had a hole in the bottom of the exhaust manifold.
Malthe jørgensen obviously you know nothing about old Tractors.
That beautiful note takes me back to the 1950s a proper tractor
Why was it only on 3 cylinders?
It wasn't. It ran on all 4 start to finish. He got it all wrong.
I want one
👍
que motores mas calidad jajajaja
Керемет 👍👍👍
get that tractor under cover.
its a forson major
can I please have it or if not do you know someone who would have one they would be willing to give up-jason 13
i have a fordson dexta
Can't you at least tarp it?
put a cap on the exhaust
MARK LINDSAY don't need one they had a drain hole in the bottom of the u in the exhaust manifold.
whis this became not enough of a tractor farming was doomed
Hola porque no me regalan este tractor,me gusta mucho lo necesito y ahi se esta perdiendo lo tendria como nuevo
For Christ sake put a dog food can over the exhaust stub to keep the weather out.
you r dog sooooooooo funny
Needs to be in a shed or at least a Sheet over it
3:46 please tell me thats not shit
Responde en español por favor
That isnt a fordson
Said so on the side of the hood
It is most definitely Fordson Power Major.
