A neighbour of ours had one. He was only a small guy, but he did start it with the handle by getting someone to drop the decompresor when he got the engine turning.
Cool, we have one here in America in Minnesota, it’s a bit different then yours. Ours has headlights, and a rear drawbar and 3pt, and the air intake comes straight out of the hood

Our first family tractor model 1962 was fordson super major.
I think radiator blind was a leftover from the gasoline engined e1a, (which were too thirsty for Yorkshire farmers!)

My neighbour used to crank start his Major Diesel, mind you he was a big strong man, and too tight to buy a new battery!
I worked on Fordson & later Ford at Basildon test work mind you we did't paint the tyres!

Is it true that these tractors had a radiator blind to close in cold weather because anti freeze just leaked every where.
