    Ryno, glad you said something about driving in worse conditions while traveling through the Mid-West. I live on the WI/IL border and recent rain storms produced ZERO visibility a couple times these past few weeks. And when it comes to winter, I've experienced 'white' out conditions! While this is bad (!!) and I would probably be one of those putting on the hazards, it really can't be compared to our winters or storms, which I'm sure you know! AWESOME video though!!

    Best vid of the dust storm posted. Could be an intro for a cheesy B flick horror movie. The alien lizards are going to get ya.

    FYI -- the best/safest thing to do in a Haboob (Sandstorm/Duststorm) if you're out driving on the road is to pull over to a safe area either on the far shoulder or off the road and turn on your hazard lights, turn off the engine, and hunker down and wait for the storm to pass. Attempting to drive through a Haboob is not only incredibly dangerous due to the severely reduced visibility and high winds, but it will also seriously fuck up your air filter and engine. Not to mention its not good for your paint, windshield, and wiper blades.

    Good vid. Cave Creek only got the dust from all this. A technician of ours reacted like you did going from 70 to 5 mph on I10.

    Very fascinating! And they totally had the right song going in the background too, "Rolling In The Deep", and that's just what they did lol.

    lol I was in that shit. I didn't even know it was going on till I walked outside my work. Didn't know wtf was going on, thought it was WW3 or something. Then one of my coworkers walked out for a smoke break in the MIDDLE of it, and was like "Oh hey, it's just a dust storm.". I'm from Florida, so all this desert shit is weird to me. I'm use to Hurricanes. Not this dust shit.

    Does the dust stick to the ground like snow?

    • @ChuckReynolds
      @ChuckReynolds  7 років тому

      uuhh... not exactly... in these cases it's just blowing fairly hard and destroys almost all visibility. eventually it does settle in and on everything but it's pretty easy to blow off. If it sits there for years.. like on an old car or something... then yah it gets sticky to stuff.

    • @bassage13

      I lived in the northeast. Snow sucks because it's slippery and your car can get stuck. I was a pizza delivery driver when I was 19 or 20 and worked in the snow and ice. No thank you!! I have lived in Phoenix for many years and these dust storms are no big deal. They just look cool.

    • @ChuckReynolds
      @ChuckReynolds  6 років тому

      bassage13 yeah they’re not too huge of a deal. When I lived in Az I never had to pull over for one, just had to drive slow a few times. They are pretty cool to experience but make a big mess. And allergies go crazy too.

    • @bassage13
      @bassage13 6 років тому

      I've driven in many. They pass quickly, so not too bad. I have no allergy issues, so not a problem for me. The only issue is sweeping all the dirt up on your driveway. Really, the only dangerous weather problems in southern Arizona are possible flash floods and strong wind during monsoon season. And even that is random and not a huge, widespread issue most summers. Of course, northern AZ can have major forest fire issues some years.

    Says visibility is maximum 50 feet... yet you can see the lampost 300yards apart... so dumb...so american
