  • On Monday morning, Chrystia Freeland announced she was stepping down as finance minister. This came after reports of increasing tensions between her and Prime Minister Justin Trudeau over the GST break and $250 cheques. She posted her letter on X just after 9 a.m., on the day when she was supposed to deliver the fall economic statement.
Later, after a day of speculation and confusion, the Liberals tabled the fall economic update, and MP Dominic LeBlanc was sworn in as finance minister to replace Freeland. The day ended with a Liberal caucus meeting, where Trudeau’s leadership was put into question.
Globe and Mail senior political reporter Marieke Walsh is on the show to walk us through a chaotic day on Parliament Hill and tell us what this could all mean for the Liberal government.

So what now? Do they just get to just walk away after all the damage they've done?

The fact that we as Canadians are stuck with this government with historic low approval ratings in a minority government and need a politician who is waiting on his pension to vest tells me. This system is a joke on all tax payers 61 billion$ 4000-6000 per household more debt federally. Come on. Who is more of a threat to Canadians Trump or Trudeau ?

Conservatives won another seat in Cedarvale / Langley BC yesterday. The Tim Hortons coffee table caucus is the forecast for the Liberal party.

Is Freeland’s resignation really a surprise though? The majority of cabinet members fired by the PMO have had their reputations smeared or blemished. Why would anyone want to cooperate with the PMO knowing their mode of operation.

did they ever get punished, pay the money back, are ousted, get fired? No, and as far as I remember there where problems with EACH gov. and EACH PM. This system is perfect for crooks.

Don’t forget she still is a terrible MP and played a major role in this dumpster fire. All she has done is saved her own skin. Singh is a deplorable person too. All these antics are just a delay till October but it’s coming.

We are probably going to replace a leader with a big ego and a second-rate brain with one that has a big ego, a second-rate brain, and an utter comfort wth telling bald-faced lies to the people, the press, and the house of commons.
Forgive me for not turning handsprings.
