Many conservatives support charter schools and/or school vouchers. Parents should be able to choose which school is best for their kids. Public/private--should be their choice.
Paso Parent also just like in healthcare and insurance choice creates competition in the market. Private and home schooling would raise standards for education forcing public schools to improve education.

This speech turned out to be incredibly prophetic. Dr. Carson said, "They (Ancient Rome) destroyed themselves from within. Moral decay. Fiscal irresponsibility. They destroyed themselves." Obama was probably sitting there thinking, "Shit, he's telling everyone our plans! The mic, quick, shut it off ("mic" meaning "microphone", not a reference to Barak's husband, "Michael" aka "Big Mike")!" God bless Dr. Ben Carson.

I don't know about your other celeb's views, but the Einstein quotation must be very much out of context (assuming it is real) . Read his book "Ideas and Opinions" for instance. He often soft-pedaled it with euphmistic language and circumlocutions (and given time and place, who can blame him for that?) but he was essentially an atheist.

Much of what Doctor Carson is speaking about is so generalized that his points become convoluted. His arguments against "political correctness" regarding the first amendment are shoddy at best - to think and speak freely is imperative, to think and speak stupidly is not. His arguments for education are simply uninformed, since the 1950's the United States have put a much greater emphasis on the sciences in public schools. Further disproving his suggestions of improving education are his biases against basic scientific principles such as evolution. He has on several occasions argued that there is not substantiating evidence in favor of evolution. Similarly appalling is the fact that he promotes the conjunction of church and state, which completely undermines the cause and reason for this nation.
Doctor Carson is a good speaker for laypeople, using anecdotes and humor frequently - much like a lot of preachers at church services - but he is certainly not an intellectual rhetorician.

It looks like a tired president trying to stay awake and be polite to someone who is taking the opportunity to make a campaign speech OR drive business to his projects.

My oldest daughter got her bachelors degree on her own. My youngest daughter, dropped out of high school. She went to Job Corp. She got her GED and her diploma and training as as a nurse asst. She went on to get her degree in aesthetics. My children are white. Your message has been moving to me after the election. I didn't hear it before. But my parents were both for you for the next president because of your Christian beliefs. Thank you for not worrying about being PC! We are all capable of overcoming obstacles that are seemingly impossible. Thank you for bringing that into the light. Minorities are not the only ones who have obstacles to overcome. I've learned that my own dream of being a heart surgeon was not for me. I was not meant to be the great one. It was my children who were meant to be great! And they are!

Start with factual and historical since you are not a spiritual person as of yet.. it will be easier for you to understand in that approach. :-) you can find that easy enough.. find how many written testaments there are the 99 percent accuracy between every one of them and the fact that there were over 500 copies written and found within 50 yrs after death verses historical characters such as Ceasar, Pluto, and anyone else you could name coming only around 200-500 years later and only around 50 or under copies.. its actually a great rabbit hole to go down when you're ready just don't be stubborn and be open to the idea that you are wrong and it's an eye opening journey.. Alisha P first of all, a written story of someone is not counted as evidence or history of that person. The bible was written by uneducated politicians in the middle east 2000 years ago. These people were influenced by the deities in other cultures. Look up horus, mithrus, dionysus, all mythical gods with stories exactly like jesus's story. There is no real evidence of jesus's existence, no DNA, artifacts, handwritten documents etc.
Second, religion is a poor example of spirituality. Just accepting what is written in a 2000 year old book is not spiritual. How can you assume i am not a spiritual person? i consider myself highly spiritual.

I'm atheist, but still willing to vote for Ben because he is polarizing and I agree with his ideas about the nation. I don't agree with him on several social issues, but in terms of healthcare and common sense I support him. People also bash him because he does not have a political background, but I don't think you need to be a lawyer or professional kiss-ass to be great. He probably will not be selected in primaries, but I'll try to vote for him if possible.

All of our founding fathers were Christians, a majority of them were Republican. They were just against the tyranny of a full republic, therefore they needed a weak central government hence bringing in a democratic view. The term of the US being a democratic-republic came years after the US was created.

Pointman Nice alternative version of history you have there. IIRC and I don't think my history is off, the Articles of Confederation were thrown out because it made the US Government TOO weak, and so the Constitution was written up which significantly strengthened the US Federal Government. The Equal Protection Clause in the 14th AMendment made the Federal government even stronger since Constitutional Rights then applied to every part of the country and states could no longer pick and choose which amendments they wanted to abide by and which ones they didn't.

The reason we are not identical to Britain is that we needed a weak central government, ya sure the Constitution strengthened it, but we are no where near Britains. We can still boycott, we can still impeach, we still have a HUGE impact in government.And the constitution for one, gives us these rights. Britain cannot do any of this. American you don't know what you all have, this is a man that operate on over 15,00 patients some of which other doctors give up hope, they then turn to their last hope in the world Dr Ben Carson who never say no to a patient. he also set up The Ben Carson Scholarship Fun with his wife Candy, they are in all 50 states with over 6,500 scholarship and counting. Now please tell me why would anyone tried to demonised this great Dr Doctor. Dr Carson really care about people and that is all American. I know that he said things like " Being Gat is a Choice" but he didn't say he hate gay people. the point he was trying to make his that marriage is between one man and one woman, and marriage is the fundament pillow of society and no group should get to change that. please remember that we can agree and disagree without getting at each.

The bible is not a math book. not everything is meant to be taken literally.
There is a argument out there that hell is simply a place without God. you should look into it. Its that The flames and worms are not to be taken literally but are metaphorical, when you look at how fire is used in many other different ways through the bible. Just as bad as the fire and worms and stuff, well, yes, but its difficult to put a moral argument up against it.
So where does Jesus support slavery?

You mentioned slavery Oppo. Slavery in the bible was mentioned under two different monotones (please do your research). To make it simple: there was the *wrong kind of slavery that forced people and there was the indentured *kind that people did for their livelihood (food, shelter..etc). Slavery is not supported in the *wrong kind in the bible. WE ALL have been slaves of some sort. The slavery God is concerned about is *slavery to sin. That's why Jesus died. Only he can cleanse that within us and noone else. Bible = relationship; not book practice alone. IF there are further replies to this, the answers just get simpler. The bible is not hard to figure out; matter of fact - Jesus wants you to get it.
