    3 minute runs one minute rest at 65 to 80 percent of maximum speed X 4, for 4 sets. Once a week wind sprints.

    Long runs are good for developing your aerobic system to help you sustain extended work and manage weight, and at least for me help with getting used to pushing and being uncomfortable. But you are absolutely right you need to do short hard bursts with short rests to simulate a round if you want to improve.

    You’re right, shorts runs are better to get use to a fight tempo but i would still incorporate the 10k runs (like once or twice a week). I think long runs give you the fitness and endurance in the first place then you get your body to adapt to the frequency of fighting through sprints etc..

    This is a great video, very true indeed. I also used to make the mistake to only running 5Ks (bcs I found them more chill), and that made me lose muscle because it’s long distance and so your body believes that you don’t need it (hence y long distance runners are all skinny). My coach told me I need to go back to doing sprints immediately and they REALLY help with cardio when your sparring especially.
    So yeah, more sprints than 5Ks guys 💪.
    Lamppost to lamppost is a great strategy by the way. Sprint with all you’ve got from one lamppost to another then jog/walk/slow down to the next lamppost, then sprint again! Do 3 sprints in total, then walk all the way back to where you started. And do it again. I normally do 3-5 sets of these.

    Waiting for coach to comeback from coaching a fighter in a fight camp and then I can start competing, not much knowledge but I definitely would add in hill sprints because of the high intensity explosiveness for a period of time and do sets of it. I feel like hill sprints is any athletes friend because it build up explosive power in your legs and the sudden high intensity and work you have to put in even for a short period of time is good for cardio and I feel a good idea for amateur boxing since it will be short rounded and high intensity. Also thank you for this video haven't tried your strategy yet but I'll try to remember to give an update after doing it for awhile and getting some sparring in.

    If you run long distances you build a good base so you can run faster paces and recover faster from sprints. So diversifying your runs should include long runs as well as intervals, fartleks, shorter tempo runs, 3-5ks… plus, you will have the mental health benefit of learning to hold back and conserve energy. I do high intensity sports professionally for 20 years and only 2 years ago I started feeling the difference by adding aerobic base training ✌🏾 trust me, it helps.

      Best comment, the video is good for starting the conversation but it throws the baby out with bathwater. Also I know it is specifically talking about boxing but as a Muay Thai fighter, I watch a lot of boxing or MMA content. In the case of Muay Thai, the distance running not only conditions your legs, it does also help with the slower starting pace of many Muay Thai fights.

    I disagree with cutting long runs out completely. Personally I try running 5k but I also do simulated fight lengths on the bag and in sparring, as well as sprints and other types of cardio work. They all have different benefits, jumping rope is great too, swimming, cycling, you just gotta switch it up and do what works for you. Plus the best way to really get your cardio up for a fight is spar a lot. A big reason you get tired is because you are getting hit, so get used to staying calm and being able to deal with punches. But you still have to get in your road work.

    I've seen older people run 10k faster than that. This feels like an infomercial 😂😂

      Take 2 benadryl pills, 30 mins before your run for a few days and then you should be able to run without it after that

    What do you mean by 10k?

    I'm in my 60s. I still box. I still sprint and I still run. Here's what I do. I live in a mountainous area surrounded by forests. There are numerous mountain bike trails in the area. I run on those. It simulates boxing because you have to be agile and have fast feet to scramble over roots, rocks, mud and up and down hills and look out for the occasional snake too! While I'm doing this, I have to duck branches and move my torso to stay balanced on my feet on the twisting trails. I throw my combinations as I run. Other days, I leave my trail shoes at home and put on my soccer shoes. I skip down one side. Do chinups and pullups and other exercises on the football goal posts (I bring my gymnastics rings). Then I sprint back down the field and do it again until I'm tired. If I feel up to it, I run up the steep hill at the end of the field a couple of times. Or I play soccer with the "kids."I also skip a lot of rope, swim, hit bags and shadow box. I try to breathe through my nose as much as possible. Resting is good but meditation is even better. I'm a counter puncher and a switch hitter. So I go over all of my combinations, traps, escapes etc. in my brain while I am meditating and practicing breath control. Keep boxing and try not to get hit. 🥊🥊😁

      no problems with the Achilles tendons?

    • @resilientfarmsanddesignstu1702
      @resilientfarmsanddesignstu1702 14 днів тому

      @@duka7436 no because I ALWAYS run on natural materials. Never on pavement. Also, I wear the proper shoes. When I run on the mountain bike trails, I wear zero drop minimalist trail running shoes. When I run on the soccer field, I wear soccer shoes. I NEVER run in shoes with a thick heel - that type of shoe is bad and is used by the “flat-Earthers” who run straight ahead on pavement (and thus train their body and head to move straight-ahead in the ring.) Wearing those shoes tilts your foot forward in an unnatural position that will shorten your Achilles tendon so that when it does stretch, it results in injury. Also, if I wore those high-heeled shoes on the mountain bike trails, I would turn and break my ankle for sure! Due to trail running, my feet are rock solid and I can move and punch like a cat. My opponents, by contrast, move and punch like they are wearing concrete galoshes. Trail running is my secret weapon.

      I'm also in my 60s and have stopped boxing since Corona, but I also have problems with my tendons. I hope you have fun with sparring for a long time.
