The Dragonforce semblance isn't by accident either. Herman Li and Sam collaborated with Babymetal on this song and recorded the guitars parts for the album version.

Nice to see you're back with this suggestion and now with another hit they don't wanna leave behind in almost any of their setlist of this World Tour 2023 and just like here ending the show.
"Road Of Resistance" is a power/speed metal song, it's one of their most epic anthem and the album version got the guitar arrangements made by Sam Totman and Herman Li from DragonForce, no wonder you got that vibe. It's all about facing your own path without looking back.
This was part of the Trilogy Of 2015, live at New Year Fox Festival - Saitama Super Arena in Saitama, by this time their fame was already high due to viral success on YT of Gimme Chocolate! MV, people from all over the world attended this live concert in Japan, and 20K souls witnessed this epic moment.
With only 15 and 17 years old this moment will be forever remember when they're performing this song to reminds them all the support they got from their fans no matter where they go, either a small or big stages.
The Kami Band here are magnificent set of elite musicians whom were send to help with the metal sound, they rotate so probably you won't see some of them in all live concerts (especially the guitarists).
    They are:
    - Leda Cygnus, god of guitar, he's the only Kami Band member who's credited as a session musician when recording some albums.
    - Takayoshi Ohmura, god of guitar, he's Míkio' Fujioka's pupil (another beloved Kami Band guitarist who sadly past away) and a prodigy child, you'll see his recognizable pink guitar.
    - BOH, god of bass, he's the bald one and not only got amazing talent but his fun way to enjoy reminds me Flea from RHCP.
    - Hideki Aoyama, god of drums, he comes from a family of expert drummers, and his father is very famous in Japan music scene.
At the end of their shows they always said "We are BabyMetal!" with the crowd, to making them sure that they're part of this show and project too, is a line borrowed to X-Japan saying it at live concerts too.
    Next suggestion:
    - Headbanger!! live at Legend 1997 (2013), Gans Tomas got that clip safe to react under Head Bangya title, also "abr metal".
Thanks for sharing your thoughts on this and see you next time 🦊🤘🔥

I was at their concert in Stockholm 4 days ago and it was absolutely amazing. I love watching their videos here and listen to them a looot on Spotify... but actually being there (despite swedish crowds being pretty shy compared to most), it was absolutely amazing! The music just hits differently and a lot harder than any recording can do justice. Probably pretty obvious, but I recommend attending one of their concerts if the opportunity presents itself! 🤩

Welcome back and great reaction. This video was from January 2015 at the Saitama Super Arena. Su was 17, Yui and Moa only 15 and that was over 20,000 people completely under their control.
Even at that age Su just looks at the crowd, spreads her arms and the crowd opens up for a wall of death. A journalist there that night said he counted over 20 mosh pits around the arena.
The DragonForce and 'Through the Fire & Flames' associations were no just imagination. Herman Li and Sam Totman did the guitar arrangements for this song (it is the only one they were involved in) and recorded the guitars for the album version.
This was the Kami Band playing live of course, each one of them is a world class musician. In this concert the Kami Band were Leda Cygnus and Takayoshi Ohmura on guitars with BOH on his 6 string bass and Hideki Aoyama on drums.
As you thought, yes this was the finale, the final encore at the end of a 90 minute concert - they had been keeping that same energy up without any drop in quality for the whole time. It is what they do - they appreciate people have often paid a lot of money and travelled a long way to see them, they never give anything less than 100% for every song at every concert, whether that is one of their big arena concerts in Japan or at the many various sized venues as they tour the world.
About the song itself - 'Road of Resistance' is a very positive song, it isn't the usual "resist the machine or the system etc" that we might expect from the title. It is about forging your own road even where a road doesn't already exist, not necessarily going the easy way or following the path already made by somebody else, so if the way you want to go has never been trodden you may have to get past the resistance of the undergrowth, obstacles, hurdles and things blocking your way etc to find your own way.
It could easily be used to describe BABYMETAL's own story - they could have followed the well trodden path of J-Pop they had been destined to take and been very successful, but they took a tangent and chose to go with Metal ... but again they didn't just follow the same old format of every other metal band, they have done it their own way and it hasn't always been an easy route to follow.
I think a couple more of their early songs would work well for your next reactions.
'Ijime, Dame, Zettai' live at Sonisphere 2014 in the UK. Their first time outside of Asia, their first time in the UK, their first major metal festival and almost unknown, aged 16 and just turned 15, faced with over 50,000 UK metalheads to win over.
The other is a staple - 'Headbanger' live at Legend 1997 - look for the video on either Gans Tomas or abr metal channels (either is safe to use, high quality). Legend 1997 was the concert in Dec 2013 celebrating Su-metal's 16th birthday - she was born in 1997.

Thank you for the reaction, this song started it all for me.
    Some history about this:
7:49 That same stage, in 2008, SU-METAL sung with her band Karen Girls, exact same spot.
Yuimetal attended that concert at Saitama Super Arena.
Karen Girls stopped and Sakura Gakuin was formed in 2010 including Nakamoto Suzuka and Muto Ayami.
In 2011 Yuimetal and Moametal joined Sakura Gakuin (with the auditioning song being "Over the Future" by Karen Girls) and the Sub division "Metal" club BABYMETAL was formed by producer Koba.
And so BABYMETAL performed "Over the Future" again later on during Legend D in 2012, going full circle once more.
This band wasn't put together in a day, it grew talent' wise and on an emotional level.
Becoming better each year, more confidence was put in the dance moves and the musical freedom.
This song got me in June 2018, waited a long time for something new that woud blow all the other bands from the stage, from an engeneering point to the entertainment value.
    Perfection !!
Being an old 80's metal head (Raven, Exodus, Michael Schenker, Metallica, Iron Maiden) my metal-journey stopped in 1992 and I didn't find any new bands that were super to me until BABYMETAL.
Not only the music, but the whole production, in the studio and Live, is next Level.
I also like the musical interludes between the songs (Piano and strings), it's a whole concept, thought over very well.
I'm still a BABYMETAL fan, and also an admin for the Muto Ayami Fanclub, because without her Sakura Gakuin would have not be formed around her and Suzuka Nakamoto would be a famous theater singer in a solo career in Japan only, like Muto Ayami and many other solo singers. And that would be okay too, but nobody outside of Japan would have known her or her music. BABYMETAL is the first band that opened Japan to the World. (Loudness and X-Japan also imo, but only in the Metal scene).
I'm glad SU-METAL has big dreams, the Focus to surround herself with people needed to perform at the highest level possible.
The Fire to be a Presence on stage, 110% every time. Again, not only the music, but also with a message of Hope, Strength and Persistence on an emotional level.
    🤘🦊🤘

As another commenter below correctly said "... every band can't be Band Maid", but happily there are a lot who are very much like them. They play the sort of music I enjoyed when I went to see local rock bands a few years ago, so they are familiar, I feel safe and comfortable listening to them.
BABYMETAL are something different, something new and exciting - they are that most rare thing, an original and unique band who do things their own way. They mix genres and styles like nobody I ever heard before (you are yet to hear their more experimental or surprising songs).
It is true BABYMETAL are very much focused on the show - but it would be a mistake to think that was at the expense of the music. Each song is different from the last and each is very carefully crafted (BABYMETAL's producer sent 'Megitsune' back to the composer 35 times before he was happy with it - that is possibly the song that represents who and what BABYMETAL are all about more than any other).

Hell yeah! This is definitely one of my favorite performances by Babymetal, and to think they did this back in 2015 when they were 17/15 to 20,000 sold out fans is just amazing!
Here are a few more suggestions:
1). Headbanger (Legend 1997 concert): A 2013 show celebrating lead Su-metal’s 16th birthday. A quintessential song showcasing Babymetal in their “truest” form.
2). BABYMETAL DEATH (Legend 1997 concert): Absolute opposite of radio/western TV friendly 😉🤣.
3). Rondo of Nightmare (Budokan 2014): Dark and heavy, epic band flex + epic Su-metal solo.
4). Metali ft. Tom Morello: Fun summer festival song, Babymetal’s newest release in Aug 2023.
    Cheers! 🤘🦊

Thanks again from Japan 有難う💛。 This song must be very special for your country, UK, BABYMETAL's second home. It was premiered at the Brixton, London on Nov.8, 2014 as grand finale. The UK audience quickly adjusted and started "wow wow" chant to Su-Metal's direction notwithstanding that no one in the world had listened to this song before. Japanese fans appreciated what the mates in UK did but felt a little bit jealous of them because the live debut of this anthemic song was not done in their homeland.
In your video, Su shouted some words at 10:40 meaning "Bring them on!". Fans analyzed that the provocative shout was thrown at people who had been ignoring, underrating, mocking, hating and even trying to discredit BABYMETAL. That shout may have been necessary in 2015 but not any longer. She shouted it rarely since then or when she does, it is with her friendly voice and smile that I love. The girls have grown up into beautiful ladies. The maturity has added more attractiveness to this band. Please react to videos including recent ones to explore BM more.

I feel like a lot of early Babymetal in particular is kind of like a metal sampler pack. There's a lot of songs with a lot of different sub-genres of metal to them, probably in part because one of the original goals of the project was to make metal more accessible to the younger female demographic. The cute young female singers make it less scary than big long-haired screaming western dudes, and once they give it a try, if there's particular tracks they like, they can look for more music that's like it.

It better remind you DragonForce... mainly because Herman Li and Sam Totman wrote the guitar arrangements on this one and even played on the studio version.
Yes, this is the grand finale, the final encore of an incredible 90+ minutes show, New Year Fox Festival - Legend 2015, entirely performed with this level of energy. Which is crazy. It was held at the Saitama Super Arena (SSA) with a sold out crowd of over 20.000 people.
That crowd did an excellent job, indeed: multiple mosh/circle pits were reported during this performance. And about the chants, apart from that guy, the whole crowd was way too fast. But notice how Su-metal gets the chants on tempo again right before the drums get in. She turned 17 a few weeks before this performance took place and she already was a seasoned front woman.
They still remember this particular performance as Su-metal explained years later. She even made this song her personal anthem. Because the lyrics are about following your own way even if there is no previous path an no matter the difficulties you get in.
    Until next time!
    🤘🦊

      @egodreas 9 місяців тому +2

Contrary to popular belief, Herman Li and Sam Totman probably didn't write anything for Road of Resistance. The song was obviously written to sound similar to DragonForce, and Herman and Sam are certainly featured on the album version, but they do not have a writing credit. Herman has been asked about it, and although his answer isn't completely conclusive, he takes no credit and seems to imply that he was sent a demo so he could learn the song. But considering that no one (neither Babymetal nor DragonForce) has ever explicitly said who wrote what, it could perhaps be that Herman and Sam did indeed write something, but that their contract stipulates that they would go uncredited. Koba seems to want his composers to remain pretty anonymous, for whatever reason. But that seems like a stretch to me. As far as I know, there is simply no evidence that Herman and Sam actually wrote anything for Road of Resistance. It was probably just written by Norikazu Nakayama (credited as Nakametal or Norimetal), Nobuaki & Sari Miyasaka (credited together as Mish-Mosh), or Keiji Kusama (Kyt-metal) to sound like DragonForce, and Koba then hired DragonForce to play it.
I think the closest thing we have to a straight answer is Koba saying: "We thought of doing something with them when we did our demo for Road of Resistance. We offered them to join us and they accepted! The recording session with them was wonderful and they really kept to their unique style too."

@@road-runner Ah, that one. Yes, I've seen it. But he only says they _played_ the guitars, and mumbles something about _"arranged all that",_ but he says nothing about _writing_ anything. No one is denying they play on the album. But as far as I know, there is no mention from anyone involved claiming they ever wrote anything. Herman has never said it, Koba has never said it, and the credits do not mention it. Sure, it could have happened, but it seems mostly like a fan misconception to me.

Sort of. Their "official" roles - Su-metal, lead vocals and dance. Moametal and Yuimetal (now Moametal and Momometal) scream and dance (scream in this instance means backing vocals and harmonies and their dancing is both interpretive for the songs and designed to lead the crowd, to get everybody involved and joining in).
Backing them are the Kami Band - 2 lead guitars, bass and drums all played by world class musicians.

Hey man every band can't be Band Maid; BMetal is more show than music focused, they have a niche, but I'd never buy a CD of theirs for just listening pleasure. But, I truly get how more metal oriented folks would really like them more than I do. It's all about connection, I happen to connect to Band Maid cuz I like hard rock primarily, they are the best I've ever heard or hope to hear, and now I can die happy after waiting decades.
Thats the beauty of the all the wonderful Japanese bands currently, plenty of options excellent options for every musical taste
And yes I happen to like this video. Great job

For me, it's the other way around in some way. For me, Babymetal is number 1 for exactly the reason you mentioned: the show. And also because of the willingness to experiment.
However, if it's just about listening, I would probably prefer Band Maid. Not every single song, but in general.
It's nice that people aren't forced to choose, which not everybody is willing to understand.

Babymetal is not music focused is entirely wrong, the team BM has way more creativity and willing to experiment than most artists today. But it's true their studio audio are inferior as those songs only truly come alive in live shows which thank to the great job of the girls and the Kami-band.
Band-Maid have too many songs that got put out in short time and honestly mostly of them sound identical to each other (it's good for those enjoy this one sound, one genre forever tho) while BM literally change genres and singing style also.

Isn't it weird how this band that was supposed to draw in youngsters to metal just drags everybody in?
