1:54 Not true. The first three European Opens were held in the Epilä park course in western Tampere. Located geographically just between the Beast and the Monster. It's a beautiful and fun course with a 15-hole permanent layout in its' current form. Definitely worth visiting if you are in Tampere. They played a temporary 18-hole layout in this year's European Amateur Open a week prior to the European Open so the course is still suitable for some big competitions as well. However, for modern-day pros the course would be too easy and it would be tricky to make it more difficult, given that the park is rather compact in size. There are some video clips here on UA-cam still. Look up "EO2009 - Final Day" for instance. Lizotte was already playing!

If ever there is a question of what to call rain still on leaves of trees, precipitation is the universal word to use. It doesn’t change from being in the cloud, to on its way down, to being a puddle, to being absorbed in the ground. Coming from Mobile, AL where it rains just all the time, so we are constantly talking about it
I bunkered down for so long trying to avoid the spoilers knowing this coverage was coming some time. Started windering when it would come. Searched "where can i watch european open" clicked on pdga link, picture of winner and headline, damn. So just watched highlights, don't think I'll watch this now.
On hole 7 the difference between Niklas' shot, Gannons shot and Simons shot was the angle the disc came down in. Simon and Gannon threw absolute spike hyzers almost entirely vertical whereas Niklas' disc came in with a less severe hyzer angle. The disc doesn't "bounce" vertical that way, allowing it to settle down immediately more consistantly. NOT saying it was a better shot, but that's the simple physics behind it sticking the green.

Disc golf and Olympics are not linked to each other since disc golf is not an Olympic event. Disc golf's European Open is not national team related so countries are not represented. Players represent themselves and their sponsors. This is basically a holiday season in Europe and probably least rainy season as well so this is quite natural timing for the Olympic games. Average weather is surely one of the main reasons why disc golf European Open is held in July, because it is most likely to be warm and not rainy in Finland.
How do you guys not check the audio when you record? It honestly make it almost impossible to enjoy wha tis normally an amazing experience you guys give.

Second, I don't want to speak for the whole community but I want to appreciate how,in disc golf, fans have the bininfit of rooting for some players but not hating on others. I'm never disappointed to see one of my less favored play well. It's a serious competition and everyone wants to win. I love this game!

Gannon and Simon threw too high and OS so it didn’t have enough right to left movement to overpower the downward force onto that little slope on the green that wants to bounce the disc in an equal and opposite direction. It’s physics, not luck.
Damn I've thrown that number six at Tampere, at least. I think the layout is different... But that's one of the most intimidating holes of my hobbyist throwing :D
My god, do I hate tree dew. Not as intriguing when it's a week and a half later and you already know who wins. Everyone needs to come together and stop fight over who has the rights. We just want to watch disc golf when it happens.
No one is fighting who has the rights. Company who pays the most has the rights. It's like that in sports broadcasting in generally. TV companies make bids and the company who pays the most gets the rights. Fair and simple and no fighting required. DGPT has ownership in Jomez so of course Jomez shows these ones and there is no longer a second crew filming chase card. DGN has rights to show live so no fighting there either. Past two years USDGC has been behind paywall for over a month, so this 1,5 weeks is not that much. Of course better to have it the next day, but most tournaments are shown quickly. It was possible to purhase DGN for one month pretty cheap. Disc golf doesn't have big sponsorship endorsements and money has to come somewhere. Paywall is one good way to get it. Lot of sports are behind paywalls. I guess in the US MLB, NBA and MLS can be watched for free. I am not familiar with that. In Finland there are certain sports that are free, but many are behind paywall. Biggest soccer leagues in Europe are behind paywall, Formula 1 is behind paywall, ice hockey is behind paywall and many other sports. Don't get me wrong, I'd rather get everything for free, but that is not possible.

DGN and DGPT need to find a better way to attract big sponsors. Expecting recreational players to pay for the professionals is hurting the sport.

its pretty remarkable that two years in a row jerms audio is terrible and the coverage comes out weeks after the tournament is played. how could they not figure out how to make those corrections in an entire year. 12 months..
They get a lot of subscribers because of it and it means more money. USDGC has been behind paywall at least for two years. That coverage is in youtube after 3-4 weeks, so even longer time after the event. EO was behind paywall last year too.
