As for the short answer for how we knew dinosaurs Roared, we don't. It is very likely they tweeted like their ancestors the birds or hissed like their cousins the alligator. It is also likely they had a large variety of different sounds, even a dinosaur going around saying "Hey!" As their call is possible. However, it was movies such as Jurassic park that popularized the dinosaur roar while they used a tiger's vocals which is very unlikely to be inaccurate. So take the dinosaur's Roar theory with a grain of salt as it was unlikely to be true.
