There both adult teeths and one of them have been extracted 2 YEARS AGO and the other 1 and a half. My dentist says the teeths are there and will come back soon but it whas a adult teeth lol. What will my ortho/dentist most likely do to get them down. And will it mostlikely end up with a gap between the teeths? I have alot of spaces on my bottom teeths
I just got my powerchains two days ago and the dental assistant was trying to get me to get black and orange for Halloween. I said “Sir, I’m 26. Run me that silver”

Power chains were probably the least hurtful part of getting braces. Getting rubbers bands took much more time to get adjusted to. Power chains just feel more of the same. I think that maybe they don’t hurt because I didn’t have large gaps to begin with. I had a cross bite and my midline didn’t match, so I believe my power chains were put on to close gaps that occurred while my teeth were shifting to one side.
Currently my powerchains are yellow and orange. But at my appointment tomorrow I'm asking for pink. My ortho runs a fundraiser during October for breast cancer research. Money is donated for every pink tie used. Happy Halloween birthday, my daughter was born Halloween!
I got powerchain and it hurt you literally feel the pressure . Here’s a tip whenever you have a braces appointment for retighten or powerchain make sure to eat and take pain med so your set. I’m curious to know why an orthodontist would add powerchain on the early stage of braces ? I thought they were only added towards the end of braces removal.

Had my second appointment yesterday (9 weeks in) and they took out my class 2 elastics and bite blockers, but now I have this criss cross wire that closes spaces too, which I don't really get because I can already hardly floss. I will admit, it's less uncomfortable than the bite blockers, but oh my goodness it's sore. I also got brackets on the teeth behind my banded molars because other than 6mm of overjet, all of my teeth are rolled inwards towards my tongue because I used a suckie until I was 6. It's so cool to see you explaining all that stuff, and it helps me understand treatment better than 5 minutes at the end of a visit. Thank you so so SO much!
Hi, I’m 18 and my orthodontist recommended for me to have a jaw surgery, since I have a severe underbite so it can’t be fixed with elastics or rubber bands. So I would like to see from you a video dedicated to the UNDERBITE JAW SURGERY PROCESS, if you can do it. I still haven’t got my braces on because my orthodontist gave us two recommendations : 1). Have a jaw surgery 2). Remove the 5th teeth on both sides of the lower jaw and push the teeth backwards so I dont look like I have a underbite when I smile, but in the face profile my chin or jaw will still look slightly more forward than the upper one. He gave us time as much as we want to make a decision. Please, make a video for this topic, I would’ve been the happiest. Thank you and love your videos ❤️
@@ajfffon1748 This is the exact procedure i got. The extractions were literally painless and the recovery was pretty quick. I was in and out for extractions in less than 10 mins.

Just got clear power chains today on my top teeth, after wearing my class 2 elastics and then I have a power chain on one of my bottom teeth to rotate that tooth.
Also, i have a habit of rubbing my tongue across my braces.. especially after eating and I’ve notice that if I’m not careful my tongue gets pinched by the power chain. So.. just a heads up to whoever 😀
Today my orthodontist put powerchains AND rubber bands on. This is month 3 of my braces journey... I didn't know what 'constant dull pain' was until TODAY!!!!!! Roll on when the discomfort becomes less and less... 😁
Hello. I know your comment was a year ago but i hope you can reply to me. Is it normal to have both rubber bands and powerchains on? Because i can see usually orthodontist will not put rubber bands when they want to use powerchains. I'm so confused now
@@orkidungu1374 Hi, I'm still here and happy to reply. Yes, it seems absolutely normal. Last month, I wore powerchains and rubber bands at the same time, again.
I'm going to show my age here.... I had braces from 2003-2006 (*gasp* early 21st century!!! Yuck! 😉) I had one tooth (a canine) that was "hung up." Had it not been for that one tooth, my teeth would have been as close to perfect as you could get. With that being stated, as they were bringing the one (very stubborn) tooth down, my teeth entered various stages. My treatment plan changed during the treatment period and the first time I heard "power chain", I freaked (a little), ONLY because of the way the term was delivered. I STILL remember how it felt getting a power chain. Honestly, it was a miserable week or so. My teeth felt sensitive and I just did not want to eat much of anything because the pressure of chewing hurt (I have a history of teeth grinding and migraines). I noticed really quickly the benefits of having a power chain and it honestly is a fantastic way to go to get those teeth pulled together, without damaging your teeth. The pain is bearable but is very uncomfortable, I won't lie. I can handle a lot of pain (I have had two unmedicated births) but my mouth pain tolerance is extremely low... If that makes sense.. After the sensitivity period ended, they were just like regular bands. I had elastics as well (and need them again, since pregnancy). the restriction wass more psychologically distressing than it was physically. I will be getting braces again as a 33-year-old (YES! As a older "young adult", "older person", whatever.) I grind my teeth even worse here, a thousand years later and between that and multiple pregnancies, mama needs braces again. My teeth decided they were done with retainers when I was pregnant with my eldest, and they were never the same after that. No worries, orthodontics have come a looooooooooong way since I last had mine (almost 14 years ago...YIKERS)! I recommend taking a low dose of Ibuprofen with a low dose of acetaminophen for the first few days, drinks lots of water (because that's always good, right!?), diluted clove oil (look it up)/oragel for temporary onset pain, and avoid crunchy foods until you are comfortable eating them. Pain is temporary, you can do this! 💜💙
Thanks! I was confused why I got them since I don't have any space between the teeth. We're only fixing my overbite and a rotated front tooth. The orthodontist got annoyed when I didn't understand and asked questions. I guess they're used to dealing with kids who don't ask anything, and not an adult who wants to know what they are doing, haha. This video made it clear to me!
im gong to need them at the end of my journy but im really close once we have the money im gting my braces so im excited and no longer nervous after i found you your tips are really helpful
My power chains are bubblegum pink, its funny because when I first got them I hated them. It felt like someone punched me in the front of my mouth but then when I was getting them changed out and they were off, my teeth felt strange without them. Power chains make my teeth feel like they are getting a big hug.
just decided to try out the baby blue power chains for this month & like the look; 1st color i ever tried was pink about a year ago but hated how it looked like bubble gum in my teeth so i stuck with classic silver to just match, until now 💙
the third thing happened to me. after i got braces, i started to have gaps on both sides of my top four teeth and my mom thought the orthodontist took out some teeth because those gaps weren't there before lol
I have clear power chains ⛓ and not by choice...my ortho said color ones were too expensive for the office...I was like “REALLY?!” He only offers clear or grey...booooo!
Honestly, I love my powerchains. I hate when I get just the O-rings lol. My last appointment was on September 25th, so I got pink and neon green. I think for halloween I'm getting dark purple and neon, black and neon, or black and orange... They all look so nice though so I'm not sure 🥺👉🏽👈🏽
I have a power chain on now (silver) because I started to develop a gap between my top two front teeth. The first power chain that I had was to rotate a tooth (around the beginning of my treatment...two years ago). The gap between my two front teeth is pretty much closed now.
OOOH i think i have power chains but in a very different way: i have brackets who don't need that little colorful elastics around them. i got an extra wire wrapped around my brackets (in Germany it's called "Verblockung"). Often when i got the extra wire i get an elastic band wrapped around some brackets too. In 2 days the space between my big upper front teeth was completely closed. Wait a minute ... noo! these "power chains" i get are hurting like hell....
I’ve had my powerchains almost my entire treatment lol I got my tops on, 6 weeks later put a powerchain on and put the bottoms on and 6 weeks later got a powerchain on the bottom. I’m 30 and I had extractions done when I was 17 because of crowding. I’ve worn a black powerchain on top everytime and just change the bottom to different colors. I get my braces off right before Halloween, so I’m definitely I’m definitely gonna do black and orange for the last 2 weeks!! 🎃👻🧡🖤
This has to do with my clear retainers. I just got them, but they give me an urge to subconsciously clench my teeth. I do this so much without really noticing and now my new retainers have a “bust” in them within the molar’s cusp. I’m not sure if there is a way to not have to feel like I need to clench my teeth together. 😅
34 years old and this is round 2 of braces. Definitely not wearing anything other than gray power chains. Leaving the colors for the kids lol. So happy to have these braces coming off on 11/2!
I am 42 and wearing purple, lol. I just got power chains today and i am sore. Embarrassed at my age but braces are to fix my bad bite. Would rather have braces temporary than have more damage done to my teeth.
Just got my 4th adjustment, and my brace’s caused gaps to form. So my Ortho put Teal power chain on the top 4 teeth to close the gaps. They said once those close, they will put on the other teeth. I definitely wasn’t expecting this on my 6 month visit, but what can you do. I did however expect the bottom arch to be placed on, and now I know what people have been complaining about when it comes to brace pain. This is the first time during the journey I’m actually feeling like ripping them off!😂😭 Thankfully it will go away in a couple days.🥴 I rock teal a lot, or a combination with teal in it. I just like the look.❤ My next adjustment is in Oct, so I’ll definitely be rocking the Black & Orange!😍
I was put on power chains (and open coil spring) just 10 days into my treatment, to close the gap from extraction of my premolar. The orthodontist didn’t even explain; all he asked was if I felt pressure. I didn’t. I went home and went on with my day and only found out he had used a grey power chain when I was about to do bracket cleaning after lunch. It’s been 15 days with the powerchain and so far no pain.
My orthodontist is uses old school products, but charged me a lot for my braces. I currently have one on my front tooth and another. They are bulky silver metal, they are working, just wish I would have went to another orthodontist that charged less and used cool products.
I used to have power chains last month, but I have gaps between my back molars for over 1 year now. I had to get brackets put on my very back molars this month so now I’m back to the thin wires.
I'm leaning alot from your videos! Thank you! I'm a 51 yr old getting braces for the first time. I'm a bit nervous. I have a crown and a peg tooth. I'm wondering if the braces will go around these teeth or if they will also have brackets in them.
I have had 4 extractions.... Eagerly waiting for the power chain to close the space caused by premolar extraction.......ppl are actually focused on my side gaps rather then braces.....
I got braces at 36 years old. 9 months in and I get so many compliments. I have ceramic and a really light grey ties. My daughter wants me to get purple so I may do that for summer😅
Random orthodontic story from today. So I had really crooked teeth on the bottom of my mouth before i got braces. And 2 of my bottom teeth couldnt be engaged to the wire. So today they were able to engage one of those teeth. They put the wire in the bracket. They go to put the O tie on. AND THE BRACKET POPPED OFF. In the end it all worked out and i got a new bracket. Also, i got lavender and black.
I got power chains and It hasn’t even been 3 months, my Orthod said they’ve never seen teeth move so quick in their life , my teeth are pretty much straight and I had to high impacted canines on the front side and now it’s all in a like in less then 3 months. I got them start of October and just had an appointment yesterday
I got mine today I wasn’t expecting it I got metallic green but since it stretch it looks more like a jelly green it’s cute . I have it so my bottom teeth can move in place
I’m sitting here, watching this after a day of not being able to eat barely anything because when I got my braces tightened and colors changed plus a bracket fixed, the orthodontist assistant put the power chain on my bottom front teeth, not my top front teeth like they’re supposed to be. Wish me luck
I'm Only 2 Months In My Braces Journey. So Unfortunately I'm Not At The Point Where I Get Powerchains. But Since Halloween Is Your Birthday I Promise I Will Get Black Bands When I Go To My Orthodontist Appointment The End Of This Month.
I’m 29 and wearing braces for the THIRD time LOL. I’m wearing class 3 rubber bands and rubber band for crosbite + power chains. I can’t eat because of the pain!!
*I think people are so much exaggerating about pain. I got power chains and they don’t hurt at all. Only thing was the pressure felt pretty heavy in the beginning but now I don’t even notice them

Have a jaw surgery
2). Thank you and love your videos ❤️
i personally didn’t want to get jaw surgery, so i went with the extraction of the premolars.
@@julianalcantar8776 can you describe the process please, if its not a problem ? Thanks 💕
ua-cam.com/video/Ol1jBXhejYA/v-deo.html
@@ajfffon1748 This is the exact procedure i got. The extractions were literally painless and the recovery was pretty quick. I was in and out for extractions in less than 10 mins.
@@julianalcantar8776 thank you, also I wanted to know how long did you have braces for and was it hurtful at any point ? Thanks for the video
I'm getting my braces off on the 28th! I'm super excited and I'm also hoping the appointment doesn't get cancelled.
Is it today!!
@@bellaturner383 yes it is!!!! I’m so excited
I have power chains royal blue! 👊🏼🦷 they had to give me power chains cuz at first my teeth were crowded and after the second visit I got a big gap between two of my lower teeth now they have to close it🤐 it’s actually already closed now they work like magic!
Yes they hurt the most BUT I love the power chains🥰🥰
And they love you =P!
i’m rocking black power chains with orange rubber bands 😁 and i’m getting my braces off in a few months i’m so excited

Hi! This was a very helpful video, I have power chains now didn't really know much about them. So I'm glad you explained it😁 purple by the way😂
My power chains are bubblegum pink, its funny because when I first got them I hated them. It felt like someone punched me in the front of my mouth but then when I was getting them changed out and they were off, my teeth felt strange without them. Power chains make my teeth feel like they are getting a big hug.
I actually just got mine today which is why I’m watching this video! Mine are sky blue!
just decided to try out the baby blue power chains for this month & like the look; 1st color i ever tried was pink about a year ago but hated how it looked like bubble gum in my teeth so i stuck with classic silver to just match, until now 💙
the third thing happened to me. after i got braces, i started to have gaps on both sides of my top four teeth and my mom thought the orthodontist took out some teeth because those gaps weren't there before lol
I loved my power chains!! 🤩 and now that I just got my braces off I miss them so much 😣
when i join the marine corps i had to braces off and i had gold. 1 year in and i’m getting my braces right back on 🥳🥳
Thank you for your service!
@@iamsocool2026 thank you for your support!!
I have clear power chains ⛓ and not by choice...my ortho said color ones were too expensive for the office...I was like “REALLY?!” He only offers clear or grey...booooo!
can you make a video about teeth that overlap, cross over one another, how that happens and how it is fixed?? (i have that and am getting braces soon)
I got black powerchain for my LAST MONTH WITH BRACES YAYYY
powerchains hurt like a mother to me but I like when I get them b/c I just eat a lot off ice cream & shakes 😎👌🏾
Oh for me my vissiting will be 8 weaks after
I have a power chain on now (silver) because I started to develop a gap between my top two front teeth. The first power chain that I had was to rotate a tooth (around the beginning of my treatment...two years ago). The gap between my two front teeth is pretty much closed now.
Got my braces on today! I know this journey can’t be rushed but I really want them off already
You explain everything so well. Wish you were my doctor!! 😊
With my pre-braces gappy teeth powerchains and I were besties for most of my treatment! 👯♀️
This made me chuckle Im your age and while haven't had power chains yet Im loving doing colors.
Currently rocking some purple chains at 29 🙃
I’m 30 and I do think darker chains make my teeth look whiter. But I won’t be wearing yellows greens or blue Powerchains. I have on pink now
I am 42 and wearing purple, lol. I just got power chains today and i am sore. Embarrassed at my age but braces are to fix my bad bite. Would rather have braces temporary than have more damage done to my teeth.
@@des711 don't feel embarrassed at all. There is no age limit to fixing your teeth and I bet you look cute😄
You should make a video on what classes you should take in high school and what you need to be good at type stuff
i just started my braces 1 week ago and it really hurts my mouth so much 🥲🥲🥲🥲
Just got my 4th adjustment, and my brace’s caused gaps to form. This is the first time during the journey I’m actually feeling like ripping them off!😂😭
Thankfully it will go away in a couple days.🥴
I rock teal a lot, or a combination with teal in it. I just like the look.❤
My next adjustment is in Oct, so I’ll definitely be rocking the Black & Orange!😍
Keep up the great work!!!
this is my life source when i first got my braces to now
This very helpful clarification why my ortho use power chain on my crooked teeth and not extraction yet even though they don't have gap.
I'm leaning alot from your videos! Thank you! I'm a 51 yr old getting braces for the first time. I'm a bit nervous. I have a crown and a peg tooth.
I'm wondering if the braces will go around these teeth or if they will also have brackets in them.
I am the the same age and I had braces for 4 months and it is not bad at all.
Here to learn more about braces. Gets ads telling me Invisalign is better and works better 🤔
This was very helpful.
I got power chains on my bottom teeth, my second appointment and let me tell you my bottom teeth weren’t ready for that type of pain 😖
I got blue rubber power chain right now.Its really painful 😭
I'm Only 2 Months In My Braces Journey. So Unfortunately I'm Not At The Point Where I Get Powerchains. But Since Halloween Is Your Birthday I Promise I Will Get Black Bands When I Go To My Orthodontist Appointment The End Of This Month.
I’m 29 and wearing braces for the THIRD time LOL. I’m wearing class 3 rubber bands and rubber band for crosbite + power chains. I can’t eat because of the pain!!
Rocking the navy and next I will do burgundy for thanksgiving 😁
*I think people are so much exaggerating about pain. I got power chains and they don’t hurt at all. Only thing was the pressure felt pretty heavy in the beginning but now I don’t even notice them
I have a powerchain too. I live in Germany and here we have only clear powerchains. We can’t deside which coulor we want to have 😅
I have my power chains right now... during 1 week it hurts so bad but now it's totally fine
