Hearts of Olden Glory (Bruce Guthro tribute) by Gary Cleghorn

As you all know, Runrig music has been a massive part of my life. Going to a Runrig gig was always a "family event" for us so the loss of Bruce Guthro has been a very sad event and a moment for reflection. I have enclosed some old family photos from our Runrig gigs in the early 2000s in this video.
During lockdown, it was a very difficult time for me with no music, no gigs and nothing except work to occupy my time which wasn't healthy. Sometimes inside your own mind isn't a place to be, but Runrig went "LIVE" on Facebook from Canada and Bruce came on to talk about how hard lockdown was. It reminded me that all of us across the world were in the same boat. He sang "Hearts of Olden Glory" along with his son Dylan and Daughter Jodi as a treat for all of us locked in our homes. This game me the idea to spend my time in lockdown creating music and recording. This came along at the right time for me and gave me that little emotional boost I needed.
As my own tribute to Bruce I have recorded one of his favourite songs and one of mine - the song that gave me inspiration to make it through the isolation of lockdown - Hearts of Olden Glory.
