The White Nile by Sam Ward

The Jinja section of the White Nile is one of the most popular playboating destinations on the planet. It is also home to some of the best rafting there is. Warm water, easy access, world class waves and rapids in a tropical paradise, it doesn't get much better than that. You can easily do the entire river in one day however there are numerous different lines and channels so this run will keep you occupied for a long time. There is quite a lot of flat water in between the rapids but that also provides a break between the action to enjoy the spectacular scenery and wildlife. There are four major class 5 rapids on the run that will challenge any thrill seeker but there are also plenty of easier class 2-3 options for the more cautious paddler. The Nile has something for everyone. At the very bottom of the run you have the world famous Nile Special wave and only a five minute paddle away lies the Hairy Lemon island which is a backpacker island getaway. This peaceful, tropical island in close proximity to a world class wave has become the training ground for many of the world elite freestyle kayakers.
