I’ve watched 4 other episodes of this game, but your single play through of this first mission gave me a better understanding of the rules & tactics, & was a far more involving & enjoyable experience, than all 4 of those other videos combined! You have a logical way of presenting large volumes of data, you speak clearly & coherently, you really bring the game to life with your enthusiasm 😊👍 & your visuals are crisp, well lit and filmed at just the right distance to show everything clearly. Can’t wait to watch your other episodes. WELL DONE & THANK YOU! 🤝
Great video of a great game! I rarely have the patience to watch board game playthroughs that are longer than half an hour, but I watched this entire thing from beginning to end. Your enthusiasm is infectious! This game has immediately gone to the top of my Must-Have List. Thank you!
I also have to pick on this, because it happened several times and it really needs to be called out. I think you even mentioned at an earlier point in the video, but characters and aliens cannot move through doorway corners, that's why they are bulb-shapped. You have to move around the doorway bulbs, you can't go diagonally through them.
I've got a question regarding movement.. can you move over the corners diagonally (next to the doors)? It seems to me the corner is "bigger" so I would understand it as not being able to move diagonally there.. but sometimes you do move over it and sometimes you don't. What's the correct way? Thank you!
It wasn’t clear in the rules if you could but from what I can tell LOS treats them not sticking out so I would assume you can move diagonal past then I will discuss this in the next video. Thanks for the great question and thanks for watching 😃😃👍
It says in the rules 'Areas that are marked with a thick white line do not block Line of Sight, but are impassable and cannot be moved through.' From that I'd say that there should be no diagonal movement through doors. Also doors are closed and treated like a wall unless a character or blip is adjacent so at 33:47 the Alien on the right wouldn't have been revealed yet as the door would have been closed. Ah, he fixed it at 36:23. ..and again later. I'll just shut up then.
Great video! Have watched some other “how to play” (since I ordered the game yesterday), but they have all been a bit “muddy”. This is how you do a tutorial!
Other than a few rules mistakes (which we all usually make the first time or two in playing), this was an excellent explanation of the game. I liked how you went step by step through everything. Some may not like the repetition, but that helped to reinforce the concepts. I'm now a new subscriber to this channel. Thanks and looking forward to the second mission!
Thank you. I’m glad you enjoyed the playthrough. It’s been a really treat to bring this game to everyone. I hope you enjoy the other content on this channel. Thanks so much the nice complement and thanks for watching 😃😃👍
Thanks glad I was able to help. Just make sure you check the pinned comment that explains some of the errors I made also there is an official FAQ out now. Thanks for the great comment and thanks for watching 😃😃👍
I keep watching this and I still can't believe the possibly unluckiest rolls in recent history of board games. It was going good after that, but when you turned two 10's I spilled my coffee 😂
LT Gorman as Hero. Remember to draw 2 endurance cards end if activation. Aslo his layout had a weapon - grenades which is a back up weapon. He cannot equip a pistol.
Awesome video. thought I would point out some rules that will help you out in your next mission, Events go to the exhaust pile not the discard when used. You can only discard from your exhaust deck if there are no cards in hand or in the endurance deck. Full auto only exhausts one card no mater what weapon you use To answer your question you do lower your aim dial after shooting a flamethrower. Acid blood is covered by one of the expansions Tip for next mission, Don't forget to take the rest action (You don't need to draw cards with it), its key to keeping your endurance deck full. Can't wait to see mission two! Let me know if you have any questions.
Thanks yes I’m excited to get the next mission out for everyone. I just finished painting all the marines. I do like that I really don’t have to paint the aliens cus they came in black plastic thanks for watching. 😃😃👍
One more important thing: You can't double-activate grunts. Pg. 22 of the rulebook specifies "they can activate Grunt Characters that haven’t yet been activated in this Marine Phase." This may not have been the text of the original rulebook, but was erratted and corrected in the 2023 re-release.
First of all, great tutorial. A few questions: @44:19 why did you use Gorman's ability and exhaust three cards to activate Vasquez when she'd be activated in the grunt phase automatically without exhausting any cards? As a Marine's aim dial lowers during a turn does that apply also to the grunts they control or do you use the grunts aim number? When you have to exhaust a card does it have to come from your hand or can you discard equipped weapons and equipment? @47:11 are you supposed to lower the aim dial between each individual shot or after you've fully completed your attack phase?
These are all great questions. Your right I didn’t need to exhaust cards Vasquez would have activated anyway. All characters have their own dial that acts independently. Exhausting cats have to come from the action deck. Discarding cards can come from your hand. You do lower the dial after each shot. These are all great questions thanks for watching 😃😃👍
Think if you have the smart gun you should be allowed a back up weapon. Vasquez had a pistol and Drake had a flame thrower back up weapon in the movie.
Actually, the M16 and the M4 carbine can both have underslung grenade launchers. Probably other guns too that I’m not aware of. Which makes the built in grenade launcher in the pulse rifle within reasonable bounds
23:50 shouldnt Hicks see the first token behind the corner because the line of sight is drawn from the extreme corners of his space (rulebook page 17)? In that case the line would cross the tokens space.
The LoS in this game really threw me for a loop. There are a few errors based on LoS. This game is fun but takes a little to get used to some of the mechanics. Thanks for the great comment and thanks for watching 😃😃👍
42:19 I'm not clear yet on whether it is allowed to move diagonally when there is a corner of a wall involved. Can you always move that way, or only aliens?
Sorry I took so long to respond. You assumption is right. No you cannot move diagonally if there is a portion of a wall only if the wall is perfectly diagonal. I hope that makes sense. Thanks for the great question and thanks for watching 😃😃👍
Your welcome. I’m glad you enjoyed it. Yes you are correct about the door ways I’m going to mention that in the next video. Thanks for the help and thanks for watching 😃😃👍
question: i have the alien warrior addon, do you basically use them instead of the swarm counters underneath or do you always have to use those counters for them?
Thats a great question I’m going to bring up in the next video. The designer explained that they are part of the expansion. Thanks A Jay for the great question 😃😃👍
at 25:48 u moved frost through the side of the door, which u cant do.when u move from a room to another u have to be on 1 of those 2 squares in front of the door! u cant move diagonally through the side of the door,bc thats part wall. u did the right move with vasques before frost and thats how u should've moved frost also. u've also moved those 2 blips at 27:33 same way and that was also wrong.blips are moved the same.pretty much everything u move through a door, u cant move it through the side of the door. in turn 4,ripley and hudson should've not be able to move that way. the way u move them gives u a bit of advantage,bc if u'd have moved them properly, hudson would've not reach the corridor where the alien was lol. gg overall tho😊
Thank you. Yes one thing im not a fan of in this game is movement and line of site are 2 different things. And I mistake them a few times. Thanks for the help and thanks for watching 😃😃👍
23:54 hick would have line of sight to the door on the left not that right. 27:05 gorman can’t have m40 grenades in a equipment slot that’s a weapon card. 28:55 gorman does have a activation ability. 33:27 only the left blib get revealed, the right door blocks line of sight. 36:38 hudson has to stop in front of that aliens you cannot cut corner to move and this ripley would not be able to move to the top corner nor take an attack action because her line of sight would be blocked by hudson. 39:00 aliens always move to the closed “marine” not your choice. 39:46 didn’t take a defence fire for hudson or ripley skiped a whole step???? 40:08 you revealed a weapon card that exhaust’s husdon body and we doesn’t get knock down example you were attacked but survived and your body amour was damaged and you lose it. 42:33 the door is closed vas is not adjacent to it… 48:52 again no line of sight.. 50:44 door is closed blocks line of site and use a ruler and you’ll see that your lines are way off 51:54 again you’re cutting corners with movement. 57:23 again movement sloppiness hudson would stop short of the door and not have los 100:27 can’t activated a grunt that has already been activated… 1:03:03 hicks and gorman both can make a defensive fire. 1:06:16 gorman does not have a grenade equipped he has a pistol as a back up.
Marc I can see you know a lot of this game , I have a question, did the dors open as soon as a character pas by or the character needs to end his turn in order to open de door and therefore line of sight?
@@moeant if a character is adjacent to the door, it opens right away. Example if you use your first action to move four spaces up to a door and it opens revealing a blip you can use your second action to shoot.
@@marklandry6927 but what if I don't stop there? let's say I pass through a doorstep in my move 2 and use 3 and 4 to continue (not pass Through the door) the door opens on 2? And see the blip and then continue? Or I have to stop?
@@moeant yeah, pretty much man you got it exactly right, for example, if you’re at the end of a mission and you no longer really need to fight and you’re just trying to move towards the exit, I would recommend moving outside of the threshold of doors so that it won’t open revealing blips. because have a dice roll on if they can move. Aliens always move at the max speed of six.
I believe when ever they activate you do everything on the card. Some have “may” so You do ya hav to follow through if you don’t want to. Hope that helps. 😃😃👍
@14:55 "Now in this game you have to use six characters in your actual party." Just got this game and I believe you but where does it say this in the rule book?
This is true you do have to use 6 characters in your party. I’m not sure where in the rules but it is in there of course newt doesn’t count towards your 6 total sorry I don’t have the best answer but it is there thanks for the great question and thanks for watching 😃😃👍
Why are you moving the characters double their “move” limit? Isn’t the move action performed in “Step 4” and is capped at the character’s move limits indicated on their card?
That’s a great question. You can do 2 actions on a turn. And you can do 2 move actions a turn. I know it seems a little weird that the marines can put run aliens but it can be done. Thanks for the great question 😃😃👍
I have a question about defensive fire. On page 21 of the instructions it says "...players take turns taking a normal attack action". On that page it also says "...Hudson fires defensive fire and kills two aliens." How many attacks can you make with defensive fire? It seems to me it should be, and is worded to imply, one. However, in the example they say Hudson kills two. Thanks for the help. Your tutorials are by far the best I've found for this game.
Your welcome. Defensive fire can be taken against any alien that moves adjacent to a character. Also full auto can activate on the defensive fire. Though every time you fire you have to lower your aim dial making a swarm of aliens super deadly!! Hope that helps 😃😃👍
That’s a great question. During the blip activation if it is spotted your reveal it. If there is enough movement to reach a character it will attack. It the blip is spawned from a motion tracker card it will not attack even if spawned adjacent since the blip movement phase has already happened. This is what I understand hope that helps and thanks for watching 😃😃👍
The way I have been playing. When a blip is spotted it immediately moves and attacks as stated on pg 22. This interrupts the marines turn that spotted the blip. Aliens move in, marines get a chance to defensive fire, are attacked and then the marine resumes its turn. I also tend to resolve multiple spotted blips one at a time rather than flipping all blipped spotted at once. This forces the marines to deal with the threat a bit differently since each swarm has the potential to be killed making a space available for other spotted swarms to move in and attack. It takes more time but it adds some savagery to spotting 2 or 3 blips at once.
since you had 2 "hero" characters shouldn't you of been drawing 4 motion trackers? or are there separate 1/2 player rules allowing you to use multiple heros?
Just a point If you play single player only one character of your choice is played as a hero. As stated in the manual “each player controls one hero character “ ( i mean you can play theoretically as many hero’s as you want, what ever makes you comfortable ) So at the start of the marine phase if your hero is Hicks then hicks has the activation token and can choose to make his activation first or choose anyone else to go first. Meaning Gorman is also a grunt and not treated as though he has rank. Hicks ( your character of choice) is the highest ranked character for that game. If that makes sense :)) I got a bit confused at the beginning of the video because you played as a single player with multiple hero’s. So I’m not sure if my statement is correct. Great vid
Yes this is true I should have been more clear that I wanted to demonstrate how this games coop. So I was playing as if there were 2 people. Sorry I was not clear on that point thanks for pointing that out and thanks for watching 😃😃👍
53:00 Player shouldnt mean hero character used? Its not the same playing multihand with multiple heroes or with your friends all controlling one hero, in that case you draw a lot more motion tracker cards and the game is harder than soloing with multiple heroes.
Loved your play through. I have the original “Leading Edge” Aliens game and I’ve played through it tons of times. May I suggest for this Gale Force 9 version, to account for “acid spray”, if a xenomorph is killed directly adjacent to a character, that character rolls a 6 sided die. If they roll a 6, that character suffered critical damage from the acid and they are dead. If they roll a 5, they’re “incapacitated” and can’t move until someone else moves adjacent to them. If they roll a 1-4 they avoided any damage from the acid.
I have that game too!!!! It is my first ever coop game!!! I did a playthough of it over on “meet me at the table”. My channel. I have played the leading edge game more than any other game I own!! I agree I wish there was a way to have acid as a radon element. This game is great but the leading edge will always have. A place in my heart as the best aliens game ever!!! 😃😃👍
great playthrough! thank you so much and you explained everything so well. it seems to capture the Aliens theme very well. we already have Nemesis but that is more like Alien than Aliens so maybe there is room in our game collection for this at some point. Will you be doing a review vudeo?
Thank you there are a few rules that I need to explain better so I will be continuing the campaign and I would like to do a review video as well so stay tuned. Also Nemesis is a great game as well I enjoy that game a lot but like you there is room for both in my collection. 😃😃👍
Just ordered this and looking forward to playing it, thinking about ordering the small expansions with more grunts and replacement minis for the tokens. Have you got them yet Bairnt? Also 3 or 4 missions does seem like too little, but it looks like they are pretty hard and I would imagine fan made missions coming soon!
If you also take the third expansion then you get a new mission layout for all three from the corebox, which makes them even more challenging and cliser to the movie
Your video made me buy the game!! Could have been a little longer I think since you repeated yourself quite a few times but it was very helpful nonetheless. I really like how fast your camera focuses, do you mind telling me what camera were you using?
Sweet I hope you enjoy the game. I am having a blast. It is really intense. Glad I could help. As for the camera I use. Here is my super secret. Ready.... I use my iPhone XR. Yep I tried a few more expensive cameras, but I was unsatisfied with them for that exact reason. The iPhone auto focuses faster then any video camera I have tried. It’s amazing what that thing can do. I recorded, edit, and upload all my videos with it. So that’s my secret hope that helps. Thanks for the great comment and thanks for watching 😃😃👍
Good question starman. I am partnered with OSCS so some videos appear on both channels for example the next mission for aliens will be on both but the third will just be on my channel. Since there are other games OSCS will cover. Hope that makes sense thanks.😃😃👍
I was not able to find a lot of review about this game looks cool but maybe few mission? What is your opinion worth the investment? Is not very expensive
There are other missions apart from the three main mission. If a (or several) teammember(s) gets captured you can get them back in a seperate „rescue“ mission you can put in between wherever you want to. And a supply mission to get cards back into your deck. And a couple of bug- hunt missions. Apart from that if you pick up the big expansion you‘ll get two more main missions to round up the package with the Queen and Sulaco, a mission with the SRV race and more Bug hunts and you can play as the Alien Hive. The core game definetely is a good game already but I would pick up all three if you can and willing to spent the money on it. It makes the gane better in my opinion.
@@CosmicFrogX hi man at the end I bought the game and I'm really enjoying it, is sometime move and shoot but is damn good. I will look forward to the expansion that I understand will give more content and create more alien movie feeling
It is a blast I am have a great time playing this game. If you go to Gale Force Nines web site I believe you can pick up the game with prebuilt minis. It is at an additional cost. Hope that helps and thanks for watching 😃😃👍
If you're interested don't let the mini assembly put you off. The tails on the aliens are kind of a hassle but everything is mostly push fit and goes together fairly easily.
One piece minis would lose tons of detail. I’m very glad they come in pieces. If you havnt built minis before, just buy the correct tools and earn a new skill!
Really useful playthrough, but you make a number of mistakes exactly at points where you want a playthrough to have the fiddly rules down. Movement, LOS, stopping movement when next to an alien, open/closed doors. Worth recapping the rules.
18:30 your in luck, in the expansion ultimate bad*sses you can equip experience cards that help create powerful characters, one of the cards in the hero line of cards can allow your character to equip the m240 flamethrower as a backup and allow you shoot your backup as a free action after using an m42a pulse rifle in an attack action similarly to using a grenade after the pulse rifle Edit* since opening the get away from her you b*tch expansion, enraged Ripley a new character you can play as instead of normal Ripley can equip the m240 as a back up as well! (Minus the free action bonus like the perk card)
Good game thks for making this i enjoyed watching it but from the playthrough's i watch i think there's a lot to fix in the rulebook ( people are confused and it's totally normal ). Two things are really bothering me in the first mission 1)Line of sight fails to follow any kind of logic ( why are there thick white lines and seems like a wall at the corner, why objects are not blocking the line of sight ?) 2)Newt's movement....You ll have to make your own assumptions as to how move her and i had some situations where it felt totally awkward and not following any kind of logic. The description in the manual is just two words and it's open to so many interpretations that i feel they just wanted to release before christmas no questions asked. Designers should have more responsibility to clarify rules because it makes the game feel uncomplete and not playtested enough. I would like to see you mission 2 progress too with the rules just to check if i m right to be worried. I ll redo mission 1 and continue to the second one as well, i hope theres more official answers and faq that will clarify some basic stuff because i really want to love this game.
There are a few rules that need clarification. There is a great FAQ being made on BGG right now that has helped me with some of the question I had. Though there will always be different interpretations at times. I can understand your frustration, but hopefully your still able to enjoy the game. I am having a blast but like you I did replay mission 1. Thanks for the great comment and thanks for watching 😃😃👍
@@OneStopCoopShop oh i visited this faq helped a lot. Its a great game, i did the first mission again and all hell went loose a lot of challenge specially with two heroes where you draw 4 motion cards. Its a great solo game and i really enjoyed you mission 2. Still i think the rulebook is bad, i added two rules that for me make more sense. First newt moves away only in case there is line of sight with other marines away else it makes the chase very awkward as you never know where to move thematicaly makes more sense also. Second for line of sight i treat it same as with impassable white line objects and corners. So in doors special bulb corners you are blocked and objects like terminals and other stuff also block. Else the game is really cool. Thks for your help.👍👍👍
thanks to all the hype on youtube, I bought this game for Christmas and we set to play it three players. . . . None of us enjoyed and none of us will play this game again. Laborious hand management, mechanisms trying to be very clever and that do not make sense, old school reactions, rules with wholes bigger that your steps. The social buzz was very well orchestrated and the theme calls for us to like it, but in the end this is a very poor game that will gather dust. Well done Marketing!
I’m sorry to hear this didn’t hit the mark for you. I am still enjoying it. I think the theme for me is what really turned me on to this game. If it wasn’t “Aliens”. It might not have been that amazing for me. Hope your able to pass it on to someone. Thanks for the great comment and thanks for watching 😃😃👍
Coming from games like warhammer 40k and Star Wars legion, this game is really not that complicated. The mechanisms are really easy compared to getting a core rule book, a codex, figuring out point values and arming units, etc etc etc. I really enjoy it and have played it dozens and dozens of times. I have all the expansions and the scenery set and enjoy it a ton! It’s my favorite game at the moment!
A few issues: 1. You have to be right next to a door to open it and be within LOS if whatever is inside. 2. You can't walk diagonally across corners that jut out like you did with Gormans first move. You did the same moving the aliens. Kind of stopped watching after that, the LOS thing made the game weird. Sorry!
A very good play through. Great explanations and very informative. I find the rule book lacking in a lot of things but your play through cleared some points. Actually the rule book sucks, very badly written. You are much better than the book. Keep up the good work.
Seems to be very luck based with little to no strategy besides playing against the deck system when you should be playing against the aliens? Confusing where it should be simple and simple where it should have depth. I’m dying to buy it but can’t justify another mediocre crawler to sit on the shelf
Totally get that. If it wasn’t for the aliens them it wouldn’t be as good for me. Being a huge aliens fan I couldn’t pass it up. Thanks for the great comment and thanks for watching 😃😃👍
@@IdolsHextech I will admit there are some neat mechanics I haven't seen in many dungeon crawlers, but there are some flaws. The LoS in this game is super fiddly. I wish it was more streamlined. I am trying to get the expansions I have also heard there are some good additions in them. It does expand the campaign which might help. Thanks

Yes I figures that out later in the next playthrough I did. I redid This mission since I missed a few things the first playthrough. Thanks
I'm so, so happy that they used stills for the cards. No stupid "artist's interpretations" here.
What do you mean!? Legendary Encounters had WONDERFUL illustrations. Ripley looked vaguely human-like in a few of the cards ;)
Awesome to see gameplay of this! Looking forward to trying it out
Thanks. Yes it is a fun game. I’m looking forward to playing more. 😃😃👍
Definitely going to the local game store tomorrow to pick this up. Gives me the (late 1990's) Aliens/Predator CCG nostalgia, but in boardgame form.
Very true I watched aliens twice after I got this cus I was so excited. They do a great job in this game it is a ton of fun. 😃😃👍
Grenade attacks are a free action if used after firing a pulse rifle.

Loved watching the game play! That was a lot of fun!
Your welcome Felipe I’m glad you enjoyed it. Thanks for watching 😃😃👍
Awesome video. thought I would point out some rules that will help you out in your next mission,
Events go to the exhaust pile not the discard when used.
You can only discard from your exhaust deck if there are no cards in hand or in the endurance deck.
Full auto only exhausts one card no mater what weapon you use
To answer your question you do lower your aim dial after shooting a flamethrower.
Acid blood is covered by one of the expansions
Tip for next mission,
Don't forget to take the rest action (You don't need to draw cards with it), its key to keeping your endurance deck full.
Can't wait to see mission two! Let me know if you have any questions.
Thanks for the great help. I’ll me mentioning these errors into he next video. I’m excited to get to the next mission this game is a blast!!! 😃😃👍
Loved your play thou.. been painting my .. looking forward to more from you..
A few questions:
@44:19 why did you use Gorman's ability and exhaust three cards to activate Vasquez when she'd be activated in the grunt phase automatically without exhausting any cards?
100% agree!!! I know in the movie drake im sure picked that up off the ground on his retreat to the APC but yes he did have it lol!!
Actually, the M16 and the M4 carbine can both have underslung grenade launchers. Probably other guns too that I’m not aware of. Which makes the built in grenade launcher in the pulse rifle within reasonable bounds
Oh this is good to know thanks
LOOK INTO MY EYE
Yessssss!!!!! 😃😃👍
23:50 shouldnt Hicks see the first token behind the corner because the line of sight is drawn from the extreme corners of his space (rulebook page 17)? In that case the line would cross the tokens space.
BUT theres a door so he wouldnt see it anyway!
The LoS in this game really threw me for a loop. There are a few errors based on LoS. This game is fun but takes a little to get used to some of the mechanics. Thanks for the great comment and thanks for watching 😃😃👍
Take rest actions with some characters each turn to move exhausted cards back into the first pile.
Your right that would have been a good idea. Learning things all the time. 😃😃👍
great video thanks! only complaint is the way you count your moves jessus it always seems like your taking an extra step lol!
Thank for the feed back I’ll work on that so it not so late. Thanks for watching 😃😃👍
At 33:27 the second Blip token never should have been revealed since the door didn´t open. (There were no a line of sight)
Very true I’ll be mentioning this in the next video for everyone. Thanks teddy 😃😃👍
You can't move across thick white lines, like the bulbs at doorways. They are impassable terrain.
More importantly, thanks for the playthrough.
Acid for Blood! How did the rules writers miss that detail.
Thats a great question I’m going to bring up in the next video. The designer explained that they are part of the expansion. Thanks A Jay for the great question 😃😃👍
They could have easily added a rule that if you kill an alien adjacent to you, you must also make a defense roll.
There are hazard cards for that in an expansion.
Your rolling skills are way too good! ^^ :D
Hahah!!! For sure I think the Aliens weighted them in their favor. Thanks for watching 😃😃👍
@@OneStopCoopShop well done, looking forward to your next playthroughs. Are you going to cover the expansions as well in the near future?
I would love to cover the expansions but for now all I have is the core game. We shall see if I’m able to get the expansions soon.
at 25:48 u moved frost through the side of the door, which u cant do.when u move from a room to another u have to be on 1 of those 2 squares in front of the door! u cant move diagonally through the side of the door,bc thats part wall. u did the right move with vasques before frost and thats how u should've moved frost also. u've also moved those 2 blips at 27:33 same way and that was also wrong.blips are moved the same.pretty much everything u move through a door, u cant move it through the side of the door. in turn 4,ripley and hudson should've not be able to move that way. the way u move them gives u a bit of advantage,bc if u'd have moved them properly, hudson would've not reach the corridor where the alien was lol.
gg overall tho😊
Thank you. Yes one thing im not a fan of in this game is movement and line of site are 2 different things. And I mistake them a few times. Thanks for the help and thanks for watching 😃😃👍
@@OneStopCoopShop yeah... i also had to play a few games till i could get use to seeing through the edge of a door, but not be able to walk through it🙂
23:54 hick would have line of sight to the door on the left not that right.
Thank you mark 😃😃👍
Do you need to do the activation on ur character turn every round or just the first time u activate them
I believe when ever they activate you do everything on the card. Some have “may” so
You do ya hav to follow through if you don’t want to. Hope that helps. 😃😃👍
Somehow it feels completely wrong that gorman is viable to act first... ^^
Hahahahah!!! That is so true!! He should have a flaw that makes him not be able to act first. That would be super thematic 😃😃👍
Definitely got a few mechanics from Space Hulk.
Oh, no question!
Yea that is for sure most people I talk about this game with say the same thing. 😃😃👍
@@OneStopCoopShop It's definitely not a bad thing, I love Space Hulk Third Edition and play it whenever I get the chance. Nice playthrough!
It says so in the rules for one of the expansions, i think the ultimate badasses one
doesnt make sense. it says event cars can be played anytime even during aliens turn. so would you not havr to use a action to activate a event card?
You are forgetting to Rest!
I didn’t rest very many time in the first mission I wanted to keep moving, there may have been a few times. Could have got those cards back
Why are you moving the characters double their “move” limit? Isn’t the move action performed in “Step 4” and is capped at the character’s move limits indicated on their card?
That’s a great question. You can do 2 actions on a turn. And you can do 2 move actions a turn. I know it seems a little weird that the marines can put run aliens but it can be done. Thanks for the great question 😃😃👍
"The turn dial is kind of a [newt] point at this point"
Hahahah!! That was awesome 😃😃👍
I want this game so bad.
This is a really fun one. Thanks for watching 😃😃👍
I have a question about defensive fire. On page 21 of the instructions it says "...players take turns taking a normal attack action". On that page it also says "...Hudson fires defensive fire and kills two aliens."
How many attacks can you make with defensive fire? It seems to me it should be, and is worded to imply, one. However, in the example they say Hudson kills two.
Thanks for the help. Your tutorials are by far the best I've found for this game.
Your welcome. Defensive fire can be taken against any alien that moves adjacent to a character. Also full auto can activate on the defensive fire. Though every time you fire you have to lower your aim dial making a swarm of aliens super deadly!! Hope that helps 😃😃👍
Can a activated grunt take a rest to recycle cards? And if they do how many cards get recycled per rest turn ?
3 recycled cards per rest action
@@arcanetraditions cheers 😁. Always wondered that and couldn't find anything in the rule book
Yes they can take rest actions. Thanks lMike for the help. 😃😃👍
"Look into my eye."
Awesome!!!! I think this movie has more memorable quotes than any other movie!!! 😃😃👍
Sgt. Apone, that you? ; )
Geeee would you Sir, I'd like that
Do the Aliens not get to move and attack after the blip is spotted? pages 22-23 seem to imply this but i cant find a solid answer
I wish i watched this before playing with my brother.
Would have made things a lot easier.
And faster.
since you had 2 "hero" characters shouldn't you of been drawing 4 motion trackers? or are there separate 1/2 player rules allowing you to use multiple heros?
This is true. I should have been drawing 2 motion tracker cards. I missed that in the rules. Thanks for watching 😃😃👍
@@OneStopCoopShop 4 motion tracker cards must be drawn! 2 for each hero in a 2 player game
Not to be a nitpicker but I think he screwed up with Gorman on equipping a grenade as equipment instead of a weapon as indicated on the card
You are correct it should have been equipped as a secondary weapon. There are a few other errors as well check out the pinned comment. 😃😃👍
Just a point
If you play single player only one character of your choice is played as a hero. As stated in the manual “each player controls one hero character “
( i mean you can play theoretically as many hero’s as you want, what ever makes you comfortable )
So at the start of the marine phase if your hero is Hicks then hicks has the activation token and can choose to make his activation first or choose anyone else to go first.
@@OneStopCoopShop no worries been reading around I am new to this game, seems it does not really matter if you play one hero or even all hero’s :))
1:18:24 - bruuuuh... that's not a Smart Gun, that's definitely a Dumb Gun.
Hahahahh!!! I think the dumb one was me rolling the dice wow such a bad roll.
Yeah. I totally roll dice just like you. Lol!!!!
great playthrough!
thank you so much and you explained everything so well.
it seems to capture the Aliens theme very well.
we already have Nemesis but that is more like Alien than Aliens so maybe there is room in our game collection for this at some point.
Will you be doing a review vudeo?
Thank you there are a few rules that I need to explain better so I will be continuing the campaign and I would like to do a review video as well so stay tuned. Also Nemesis is a great game as well I enjoy that game a lot but like you there is room for both in my collection. 😃😃👍
Have you done the second mission?
It will be ready soon. I will tell you it was really fun and heart pounding at times. 😃😃👍
Why when you count to 4 for movement it looks like 6 or 7 😂. Is there a rule that gives them extra movement?
The characters can take 2 actions and if you choose moment twice you get move 8. That might have been what happened. Thanks for watching 😃😃👍
Thanks man. Really appreciate the video. Just grabbed it all from MM. can’t wait!!
That’s awesome hope you enjoy it. Let me know how your first game goes!!
Very true fan made content would be cool. I sadly don’t have the expansions, but I will be picking them up.😃😃👍
If you also take the third expansion then you get a new mission layout for all three from the corebox, which makes them even more challenging and cliser to the movie
Thanks for the great comment and thanks for watching 😃😃👍
man they really should have made it so a wy hero can give one grunt action and then marines get: private 2, sgt, 3, lieutenant 4.
That would be a good idea. After all ripley was helping out quite a bit. Good news you can always house rule that. Thanks for watching 😃😃👍
See comments on your other channel on missed rules, why two channels?
Good question starman. I am partnered with OSCS so some videos appear on both channels for example the next mission for aliens will be on both but the third will just be on my channel. Since there are other games OSCS will cover. Hope that makes sense thanks.😃😃👍
Where’s my preorder 😩
Hahahah!!! I hope it comes soon. I’m having a blast with this game!! I hope you have fun as well. 😃😃👍
I was not able to find a lot of review about this game looks cool but maybe few mission? What is your opinion worth the investment? Is not very expensive
If you don’t mind assembling the minis which some people do it is a really strategic and fun dungeon crawler. I do recommend it. 😃😃👍
@@OneStopCoopShop Cool no issue to assembly mins... war hammer docet!!! Waiting the second mission!!!
Coming soon be ready!! It a long one 😃😃👍
Looks really fun. Hoping for a second edition with pre built minis in a year or so.

Very true. Lots of fiddly rules. I am planing another game soon I have all the expansions just need to get them built and painted.
18:30 your in luck, in the expansion ultimate bad*sses you can equip experience cards that help create powerful characters, one of the cards in the hero line of cards can allow your character to equip the m240 flamethrower as a backup and allow you shoot your backup as a free action after using an m42a pulse rifle in an attack action similarly to using a grenade after the pulse rifle
Edit* since opening the get away from her you b*tch expansion, enraged Ripley a new character you can play as instead of normal Ripley can equip the m240 as a back up as well! (Minus the free action bonus like the perk card)
Oh wow!! Thats super powerful! I can’t wait till I get the expansions for this game. Thanks for the info and thanks for watching 😃😃👍
Good game thks for making this i enjoyed watching it but from the playthrough's i watch i think there's a lot to fix in the rulebook ( people are confused and it's totally normal ). Two things are really bothering me in the first mission
1)Line of sight fails to follow any kind of logic ( why are there thick white lines and seems like a wall at the corner, why objects are not blocking the line of sight ?)
2)Newt's movement....You ll have to make your own assumptions as to how move her and i had some situations where it felt totally awkward and not following any kind of logic.
You are so unlucky with your dice rolls.
For sure!!! It’s one of my super powers makes the game that much harder lol!!!! 😃😃👍
thanks to all the hype on youtube, I bought this game for Christmas and we set to play it three players.

A few issues:
Aww I was hoping for a disagreement, I really want to buy this. I hear the expansions add a lot but not sure what in particular
@@IdolsHextech I will admit there are some neat mechanics I haven't seen in many dungeon crawlers, but there are some flaws. The LoS in this game is super fiddly. I wish it was more streamlined.
