Here is living proof that you don't need a university education to be a great success. Yes, this man had a gift and was incredibly smart, but his message to everyone is that anyone can do it. He was curious, passionate and had such a love for ideas and life itself. He didn't conform to everyone esle's idea of success. He just did what he loved and never lost that sense of wonder that he had as a child.
+Charlie5thumbs yes, that struck me too. He was passionate & consumed with what he wanted to do, and he DID it. He didn't theorize or overthinkin, he just did it. That's so inspiring.
i get the same feeling reading his collected essays. so much joy and excitement of the world in this man, and his love of the world was infectious. he was a national treasure.
I needed this. I'm a young writer struggling with people telling me it's worthless to pursue an artist's career. Ray Bradbury... he's a genius. He's done it all. I only wish he was still alive so I could meet him and say just how much his works have meant to me over the years... R.I.P....
Please don't listen to anyone who tells you its worthless to pursue a career in something IF you genuinely love it. If you do pursue a career in the arts, You better love it, Its a hard Road. If you are a lover of Big cars Big houses Big material things and cant think of living with out them, Then you have a problem. The road of an artist is many times filled with personal rejection and poverty living from day to day even when the talent grows strong. I also suggest getting married and having kids right away will be a bad idea unless you get very successful early on. And even then it will interfere with your Art one way or another. The other side of the coin is when you are given praise for your work. Its a great feeling, One that you cant buy. Also you must have a solid quality education to stand behind the field you have chosen. If not, You can be looked upon as just an amateur regardless of how good you turn out. At least that's what your critics will think. Learn all about what you are about to undertake from the bottom to the top. If your going to write take every course you can on creative writing, Journalism , Major in English, Etc, , Because even with those professional credentials you will find it a very hard road.
as he said ''love what you do and do what you love, jump off a mountain even if you are scared and build your wings on your way down'', extraordinary quotes to stand for. HE WAS THE REALEST, THANKS RAY...
Ray Bradbury beams with love for books and a love for life. The golden rays bathe your soul and bring tears to your eyes. I wanted to be a writer, I really did. But I found it difficult because I believed pleasing others was the most important thing. Ray taught me otherwise: “Do what you love and love what you do.” I did. Then I lost myself in the magic; it’s a wonderful feeling. Creating is difficult, the rewards after you finish, despite what others say, are food for the soul. I learned I’m a short prose poet and much of my work has seen publication. Thank you Ray. After you find your sweet spot you feel you are dictating to the universe. In a way you do live forever because you never know who will read your stuff, awakening that butterfly effect. Years ago I was fortunate enough to meet a few people who knew Mr. Bradbury personally-one even read to him at the hospital when he experienced his first stroke. The man told me, “Ray would’ve found you fascinating and he would’ve told you ‘if others don’t like what you are doing pick your toys up and play somewhere else....get negative people out of your life’ “ Even though I never met Ray, meeting a few of his friends was just as good. They are like him: love and enthusiasm. I have 10 Bradbury books autographed. They are my bible. Wonderful interview. Seeing another human truly loving life does bring tears of joy. Thank you Ray, you’ll definitely live forever.
That's THE KEY: he very much stayed in touch with the curious and imaginative child. Money was very much secondary. It was always the exploration of Life & Love ... and craziness.
This man is my hero. To pinpoint that moment when you realize you're alive, and then continuously find that love through books and through authors...it's such an inspiration. Because yes, behind every book is a man, and that man becomes part of a family not just for Montag in Fahrenheit 451 but for anyone who loves literature. Miguel de Cervantes and William Shakespeare are my family,. You fall in love with these great works of art, and those people live forever because people still read their works, and Ray Bradbury will live forever as long as his works are still relevant and people still want to read them. I will never stop reading, in general or Ray's books. He had such a beautiful vision. Yep, my hero.
I miss this man. And all of his contemporaries, but mostly this man. To retain the child inside throughout such a long and worthy life is something few people accomplish. The world is so much poorer without this man in it. Thank you for everything, Ray. You are not forgotten.
I’m not sure why this showed up in my feed, but my God, this is awesome. His passion when he talks about books and libraries is a beautiful thing to see.
Great guy, sharing so much of himself in just a few short minutes! Always loved his work, and I had little knowledge of who and why he was. Praise God for giving us this great talent who shared his passion for poetry and left us with such a tremendous body of work to savor, enjoy, and find ourselves in its pages!
Ray Bradbury is a beautiful soul, kind and full of life, he exudes passion and love of life, Oh how he does. It is a real joy and a great pleasure to listen to him speak. He is a wise, wise man with a pure innocent heart and soul which he shares abundantly. Every word from his mouth is filled with energy and life sustaining wisdom. I thank the universe for giving me life here on earth and to allow me to come alive here, yes.
Just think how much better society would be if our heroes were more like this man rather than over paid pop stars and brain dead reality show characters.
Some of us do have him as our hero but it is the brain dead masses like macheteclan than make up the majority of society ie the 'Hoi polloi' the shit swarms of a dead society who decide what advertisers will focus on, usually the lowest common denominator. This is why we have rugby in Australia or baseball in USA as sport or stupid gangster rap neanderthals who call themselves musicians squawking about how great it is to have superficial bling from ill gotten gains and having a filthy whore just wanting you for your ill gotten gains. It's the society that is to blame, the average asshole in the street like macheteclan who cant even spell "you're".
Yes Ray wrote Poetry and was a true romantic. I wish there were more people like him in the world. Anyone out there? Sound out! "It was a pleasure to burn. It was a special pleasure to see things eaten, to see things blackened and changed. With the brass nozzle in his fists, with this great python spitting its venomous kerosene upon the world, the blood pounded in his head, and his hands were the hands of some amazing conductor playing all the symphonies of blazing and burning to bring down the tatters and charcoal ruins of history"
This man is golden. One of a kind, and an inspiration to other people. I think of him when autumn appears in the air, or when I suddenly remember a bit of childhood fun like my first airplane trip or listening to campfire stories or watching Mom making her special cookies for Halloween. Ray makes me see the wonder and magic in every day-- in all the good things we find in life, like engrossing stories, nice people, simple pleasures, monsters under the bed, and cold lemonade on a sultry afternoon. I hope he is having many adventures now ... wherever he happens to be.
What a gift to us Ray Bradbury has given with this inspirational and touching, marvelously human interview. He is a poet and has encouraged me to find the poet within myself. Thank you.
i was 9 or 10 years old when i first listened to the 3-part radio-play with my parents - and i read it 4 times (now i am 42) .And it was my first book i tried to read in english - i love this book and i always named it as my favorite one
This has got to be one of the most beautiful things I've ever seen. It makes me realize that if people like him can exist then humanity has a chance after all.
what always tripped me out is how dark his writing is, yet in life he speaks with such glee and passion. i wish we could have kept him with us for a few more years.
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you for this gem! How joyful it made me feel… I am currently reading Fahrenheit 451 and wanted to find out more about Ray Bradbury… this video interview was perfect.
I love love love love Ray Bradbury. My love for him is ineffable. There is a great lesson to be learned from this man... it can be applied to every facet of life; family, work, relationships, community.... amazing.
As long as people read Ray Bradbury and his amazing celebrations of love, life and the wonder available in each and every day he will live as long as people visit the land of his exquisite imagination.
*applauds* This is the greatest most inspiration man I've ever heard and or seen. He inspires me everyday with his words of fluent wisdom and life. Never give up on your dreams they will come true one day.
As I finish watching this I'm forced to stand up and shake my head violently because if I do not I will cry.And even as I shake my head I cry a little because there goes another man who I will never have the great pleasure of meeting or talking with...there goes another man who loved life completely and another man who showed me to love life completely and who had lent a hand to me in the innocence of my youth on through my developing young adult life... him and so many authors...Thank You
What a magical little interview with a magic little man. I felt like I was snuffing ferry dust throughout the entire thing. I've still not landed back on earth. Give it a few hours, because for now, I'll keep dancing on the moon.
He exhibited skepticism with regard to modern technology by resisting the conversion of his work into e-books and stating that "We have too many cellphones. We've got too many internets. We have got to get rid of those machines. We have too many machines now."
Cool! I was the same age as he was when he visited a library for his first time too. I will always remember that fall day. :) The Martian chronicles and There Will Come Soft Rains are of my personal favorates. As long as there is expression of thought, great men like him will certainly live forever!
To continue my comparison of Ray with Poe, we see that indeed Ray was a master of dark fantasy and horror who had many tales in the horror genre. The collection “The October Country” (originally published as “Dark Carnival”) and the novel “Something Wicked This Way Comes” are considered “Bibles” of dark fantasy. And those examples only represent a portion of his total horror output. And many of his science fiction tales have strong elements of horror in them, “The Moon Be Still As Bright”...

Look up Ray Bradbury on You Bet Your Life/ Groucho Marx show...1950's. He had a very interesting conversation with him there. On UA-cam
Here we see a man with passion. My eyes got wet from this great praise of literature
This interview of Ray Bradbury fills me with absolute joy and makes my heart sing. He was one of the special ones.
i get the same feeling reading his collected essays. so much joy and excitement of the world in this man, and his love of the world was infectious. he was a national treasure.
Amazing life was Ray Bradbury! So glad he left his books for me to read.
I needed this. I'm a young writer struggling with people telling me it's worthless to pursue an artist's career. Ray Bradbury... he's a genius. He's done it all. I only wish he was still alive so I could meet him and say just how much his works have meant to me over the years... R.I.P....
I hope you stuck with your writing.

Humanities (including arts) are the reason I'm still alive.
as he said ''love what you do and do what you love, jump off a mountain even if you are scared and build your wings on your way down'', extraordinary quotes to stand for.
HE WAS THE REALEST, THANKS RAY...
i took his advice on a big life decision - after discussing the choice with my wife i quoted him "we will build our wings on the way down."
I love this interview. I watch it over and over.
good for you, finn mccool
Dear God. The passion this man has in his body for books, knowledge, and writing is staggering. A truly phenomenal human being
Ray Bradbury beams with love for books and a love for life. The golden rays bathe your soul and bring tears to your eyes. I wanted to be a writer, I really did. Wonderful interview. Seeing another human truly loving life does bring tears of joy. Thank you Ray, you’ll definitely live forever.
he was and will always be the single most influential author in my life. R.I.P. Ray Bradbury
One of the best interviews on writing I've ever had the privilege to watch. Thanks for sharing.
What a wonderful man
He talks like a genius little boy.
Yes
That's THE KEY: he very much stayed in touch with the curious and imaginative child.
Money was very much secondary. It was always the exploration of Life & Love ... and craziness.
I love Ray Bradbury. This interview - I can never get enough of it!! I always come back to it I admire him so much. ❤️
This is why every small child is looking for a grandfather to teach them about life. Beautiful!

i just finished reading Fahrenheit 451 when this popped up
Is it even possible not to love this man. This was so pleasant to listen to
I miss this man.
I love how excited he gets when he talks about how Aldous Huxley called him a poet. I just love him. He lives forever in his books.
Imagine what the world would be like if we followed Mr Bradbury's advice: Love what you do, and do what you love.
Wouldn't be good for the Corporate State.
whenever i'm down, i love watching this video. keeps me going!
The wonderful Ray Bradbury. My favourite writer
Great guy, sharing so much of himself in just a few short minutes! Always loved his work, and I had little knowledge of who and why he was. Nami Sumo it would be nice, but at the same time i want to be that special one that has a unique hero
This is a pretty amazing interview and quite inspiring.
your all gay

"If you don't know how to read, you don't know how to decide."
I love this one. I watch it, over and over.
See what love does to you, you do not where you're because you're in love❤
I found myself laughing and smiling during almost the whole video. It made me tear up when he talked about his characters
What a gift to us Ray Bradbury has given with this inspirational and touching, marvelously human interview. He is a poet and has encouraged me to find the poet within myself. Thank you.
At six, I went into the library and saw one of Edward Weston's photographs. To-day I'm a photographer.
i love it! libraries are magical places for sure!
This is a lovely film. Thank you so much for making it available. Ray Bradbury was a beautiful person, and one of my heroes.
The great, daring, imaginative lover: Ray Bradbury. ... oh. and he's a teacher too.
i was 9 or 10 years old when i first listened to the 3-part radio-play with my parents - and i read it 4 times (now i am 42)

Fahrenheit 451 changed my perception to see the life. Thanks Bradbury!!! ♥

Pavel N ; thank for the comment
PS ARE YOU TALKING TO ME OR RAY BRADBURY?
Such a big inspiration to me in highschool this man was. He inspired me. I have him to thank for so much.
what always tripped me out is how dark his writing is, yet in life he speaks with such glee and passion. i wish we could have kept him with us for a few more years.
Thanks for sharing this. He is so passionate about everything. What a life he lived.
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you for this gem! How joyful it made me feel… I am currently reading Fahrenheit 451 and wanted to find out more about Ray Bradbury… this video interview was perfect.
My pleasure. He's one of a kind.
So much passion. Ray is eternal.
Pierluigi Puccini He lives forever.
I love love love love Ray Bradbury. My love for him is ineffable. There is a great lesson to be learned from this man... it can be applied to every facet of life; family, work, relationships, community.... amazing.
what a complete genius!
Me too. What an incredible man. He breathes pure beauty and inspiration and love.
If Ray Bradbury is Charisse then im Montag bc ive been inspired. I am 14 years old and i think i just fell in love with reading
i have heard him say he is Montag too. He had to learn to delve into the freedom of this craft. He was so enriching
As long as people read Ray Bradbury and his amazing celebrations of love, life and the wonder available in each and every day he will live as long as people visit the land of his exquisite imagination.
Very insting
you can see he is about to cry when Huxley said he was a poet, Bradbury was such a heartwarming and passionate person!
Thanks for making this available! Mr. Bradbury is such a wonderful writer and lovely human being.
A brilliant man, a brilliant writer. He will be missed, and shall his fiction be forever read.
Inspiring stuff, a simple yet elegant expression of life and literature.
“For whoever wishes to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake and the gospel’s will save it.”
Mark 8:35
You taught me to do the things that I love. Your life is a ray of hope for us. Thank you.
I love this guy, just take your time and watch it
*applauds* This is the greatest most inspiration man I've ever heard and or seen. He inspires me everyday with his words of fluent wisdom and life. Never give up on your dreams they will come true one day.
Absolute truth and an astonishing story by a genuine human being
It's interesting that he references Poe as showing him the light considering the heavy dark themes of Poe's work.
My fave, "Dark They Were and Golden Eyed"
I have listened to that audio at least a hundred times.
He exhibited skepticism with regard to modern technology by resisting the conversion of his work into e-books and stating that "We have too many cellphones. We've got too many internets. We have got to get rid of those machines. We have too many machines now."
So much love for writing and books... wonderful. Such a beautiful man.
That is an amazing man. Props for loving what you do and doing what you love
wow! thanks! A blessed day everyone!
What a divine story!
I’m vibrating with life
Thank you. It was wonderful working with him and I'm glad you enjoyed it.
What year is this?
He is so inspiring!!!
I watch this often - he is a man possessed and I love him . . .
Ray Bradbury is one of the authors that give great interviews. Along with Stephen King, I don't know of any other ones that can do that.
I always repeat his comment about doing what you love, and loving what you do.
What a lovely human
Cool! I was the same age as he was when he visited a library for his first time too. I will always remember that fall day. :)
The Martian chronicles and There Will Come Soft Rains are of my personal favorates.

Do what you love, love what you do!
"Dummy, call the fire department" :D
Excellent !!!!❤❤❤❤
Thank you, Mr. Bradbury.
What an extraordinary man.
