I've been waiting for this video for months. Rush is simply brilliant. It's one of the most authentic and immersive racing films ever made and I'm so happy you finally made this homage to Lauda and Hunt's rivalry.
Arguably your best video to date Josh, thanks so much for it. Nearly teared up at the endcard when Legends turned red. Hunt and Lauda will always be remembered as legends of the sport!
As much as I enjoyed "Rush", I was very disappointed with the director's decision to omit the Brands Hatch '76 drama!! That would be like filming a documentary about Ayrton Senna, and leaving out his incredible drive at Donington Park in '93.
There's isn't enough racing in Rush period. This was basically down to budget constraints but in an ideal world they would have had the means to include much more racing scenes and not have to pad the run time with so much of Hunt's womanizing which really wasn't relevant to the plot at all.
Yes I agree, it was a focal point of the season, the re start etc, but they can't include everything, I think the film portrayed the season very well the cars from the historic F1 amazing to see.
This video almost made me cry! Niki is my hero, my idol! Rush is one of the best films I ever saw, its a disgrace for Hollywood that this brilliant film didn’t get a single oscar!! Rest in piece Niki and James 🙏🏻

Seriously, Josh, this is BEST "documentary" I have ever seen on the rivalry between Lauda and Hunt. Perfect. It is a very fitting homage to both drivers. Thank you.
Man, this video could not be liked more. What a great 33 mins I just watched, you told a great story, production and humor. It brought me back to my time spending with my grandfather, who used to talk nonstop about Niki. Thank you Josh for this awesome video and keep up the great work.
Josh. You do a genuinely good job dude. Constantly making me laugh, being interesting, and being a 1 of 1 when it comes to reviews and perspective. I appreciate you dude. Blessings on your year, and may your channel continue to grow.
I was a kid during this time and I remember sitting up with my dad watching formula 1 and cheering these guys on. Niki Lauda was always a favourite of mine, his guts to come back from such an accident and to keep on giving to the sport even after retiring just cannot be denied. Hunt was another one who inspired in his own way. There have been many great men in the sport who deserve to have their story told. Please keep this up!
Wow! This video had me in tears for moments. That moment where James passed Niki in Brands Hatch was the most incredible thing I've ever seen in formula 1. I've never seen such a passionalte portrayal of anything sports realted. Good work mate!
I turned 11 that year. It's not one I'll ever forget. Much as I wanted Hunt to win, I was an admirer of Lauda's skill. After the accident, and after he returned (I totally blubbed at the start of the race, and again at the end. I was a watery wreck! Not because of Hunt, of course, but full of emotion for Niki) I was torn between the two of them. Yes, of course I wanted my fellow Brit to win the championship - I think that even then I understood it would probably be his only real chance at it - but being a typical Brit, I can't help but support the underdog. And after seeing the state Niki was in after that first race back, he could only be seen in that light. (I was still 10 years old at that point, so you have to remember how kids think. It's very black and white.) When it came to that last race in Japan, and I saw them going off to race in conditions only a madman would consider safe, I was terrified, particularly for Niki (by then I was a more "grown-up" 11 year-old, with a very safety conscious ex-rally driver dad - yes, that's paradoxical in ways, especially for a rally driver, but he _never_ skimped on safety standards and would explain why I couldn't do it either. He was a cracking dad :)) The world championship had lost its meaning for me at the start, it wasn't worth anyone's life. I felt - and would still feel it - that if Niki had one more big crash, especially so soon, he wouldn't survive it. I can't tell you how relieved I was, and how full of admiration, when he pulled into the pits! Then, being 11, of course I was urging Hunt on to win the championship. Nobody can accuse an 11 year-old of consistency! Excellent video as ever, young man. More please! I'm still waiting on the Pat Moss video 😜
Probably your best video so far, how you tell the story in your own way, even though the subject is way more serious than in your other clips. I enjoyed every second of it.
This movie. The very single movie has successfully made me wanted to know so much more about formula 1. I ended up watching "1" documentary, then began to learn about motorsport history as a whole. What an amazing movie this was, I still love to watch it if it's shown on TV.
Dude, the buildup to the crash and the cut from movie to real footage gave me goosebumps. The whole video was amazing. Tears were shed when the rivalries quote faded out into legends!
Yes! I have been waiting for this video for so long 🙌🙌 This was an exceptional season because Lauda was an exceptional driver, "big balls" is facing death and choosing to race again
Josh, this is one of the best video that I ever sat and watched. Your exceptional talent in storytelling, narration elevate this legendary rivalry between these two greats. I even shed a tear in the end, great job mate.
Rush was amazing! And Daniel Brühl definetely nailed Niki Lauda! Btw., Niki Lauda himself became a TV expert for German RTL and often gave Insights, even when he worked for a team on the grid. Kapperl off to you, Josh, and Kapperl off to Niki and James!
I think the Rush movie and making this great season known to more people (in the USA anyway) was the first step towards the popularity boom it’s enjoying right now. Great job. I hope this gets a million views
Rush is the reason I love formula 1 today. I remember being 11 years old watching that in theaters and feeling so inspired. A timeless movie and a great video on the topic. Loved the footage and filling in of some of the things that weren't covered and providing further insight the movie didn't. Cheers !
Rush is such a great movie and Chris Hemsworth and especially Daniel Brühl are excellent as James and Niki. 76 was truly a great F1 season and what Niki did coming back from that crash and achieving what he did shows what an amazing human being he was. It's a shame these two legendary personalities are no longer with us.
Honestly, it's comforting to know that no matter how fiercely they fought, they still remained friends. Very adult and sportsmanlike way of handling it. Feels like that's not always the case.
That was a superb account. Way above the standard of any "typical" motorsports UA-camr. And yes they were both absolute legends but in very different ways.
Watched Rush twice (maybe it will be thrice after this video) it really captured the intensity of F1 back then. None of the Hollywood glitz and tone down treatment, it was raw and memorable.
Finally had the time to watch your video, really well done, great story telling and editing. Rush is honestly one of my favorite films, I think Daniel Brühls performance is very underrated, he absolutely nailed the voice and accent of niki lauda, not only in the original voice but also in the dubbed German version. For a German to get absolutely nail the Austrian accent of niki lauda is no easy feast, but it was brilliant.
To add a little detail, your so called fuel infringement wasn´t something the FIA judged over McLaren, but half the team got arrested on the italien border for "illegal fuel smuggling". They were of course released as it turned out to be false, but because of that the teamed couldn´t show up to the qualifying in time, hence why the McLarens started from the back row
This is in my opinion your best video that you have ever produced. Great work. Rush is a great movie and the story of rush should be told for the rest of time.
Fffing brilliant Josh! I've watched the movie Rush more times than I can remember, and your video just added more to it. Thank you for putting time into making this.

this video has to be some of your best work so far. a great watch.
also i can not recommend enough watching Laudas interview with Graham Bensinger. absolutely fantastic
@@fleursbruyantes4177 Good point! The budget was less than US$40m, which is considered low these days.
Yes I agree, it was a focal point of the season, the re start etc, but they can't include everything, I think the film portrayed the season very well the cars from the historic F1 amazing to see.
I would say, you did justice to this rivalry/competitive friendship... Mate, this is what you are made for... Focus on this. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
This video almost made me cry! Niki is my hero, my idol! Rush is one of the best films I ever saw, its a disgrace for Hollywood that this brilliant film didn’t get a single oscar!! Rest in piece Niki and James 🙏🏻
Glad I wasn't the only one! An incredibly well done piece on an oft told story, top work there!
Rush made me obsessed with Niki Lauda. I know nothing about F1, but I love Lauda!
Amazing recap Josh! Probably my favourite rivalry in the sport and the way you described it, as well as the film, brought a few years to my eyes
I haven’t even started and i’m already giddy. 33 minutes of JR describing one of the greatest rivalries in all of sports. Josh, thank you for all you do and please never ever stop.
And it was better than I hoped. Well done Sir.
Simply a high quality youtube video, 30 minutes and perfect pace and story telling through, Mr Revell you never cease to produce a slappy video
Seriously, Josh, this is BEST "documentary" I have ever seen on the rivalry between Lauda and Hunt. Perfect. It is a very fitting homage to both drivers. Thank you.
Really well done video. This was a great tribute to these two drivers. Thanks for all you do for the sport.
Josh, that has got to be the best one you've ever done. Keep up the good work.
It's very black and white.)
When it came to that last race in Japan, and I saw them going off to race in conditions only a madman would consider safe, I was terrified, particularly for Niki (by then I was a more "grown-up" 11 year-old, with a very safety conscious ex-rally driver dad - yes, that's paradoxical in ways, especially for a rally driver, but he _never_ skimped on safety standards and would explain why I couldn't do it either. He was a cracking dad :))
The world championship had lost its meaning for me at the start, it wasn't worth anyone's life.
Hey Josh. We need more of these.
This is one of the best summary's I've ever seen. Thanks for that.♥️
A well done doc Josh! A great summation of the rivalry.
Yes! I have been waiting for this video for so long 🙌🙌
This was an exceptional season because Lauda was an exceptional driver, "big balls" is facing death and choosing to race again
Josh, this is one of the best video that I ever sat and watched. Your exceptional talent in storytelling, narration elevate this legendary rivalry between these two greats. I even shed a tear in the end, great job mate.
Such a high quality of video these days mate, really really good 👍🏻
After a very very VERY long time, I watched a video which I either didn't skip or watch in pieces. Very made Josh. Truly entertaining stuff
Daniel Brühl is a super solid actor. I highly recommend everyone to watch the German film The Edukators. It’s brilliant.
What an amazing Video, Josh! It felt like a movie throughout, the narrating was impeccable.
Cheers !
I cannot recall the last time a UA-cam video made me tear up, if ever.
FANTASTIC job Mr. Revell! Absolutely fantastic! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Maybe your best video yet, and I've seen them all. Thank you Sir, for the best F1 content on UA-cam
Genuinely a beautiful and very enjoyable video. A little bit different than usual but lovely to watch 😊
This is by far one of the most cinematic and beautiful videos you've done. Can't wait to see some more similar.
What a beautiful video! I cant even imagine the effort that goes into creating these... makes me love the sport and your channel even more. Thank you.
20:44 - this particular moment is an absolute masterpiece. The way you were able to cut from the Rush footage to the IRL footage is breathtaking.
This might be your greatest video yet! Awesome job Josh!
Honestly, it's comforting to know that no matter how fiercely they fought, they still remained friends. Very adult and sportsmanlike way of handling it.
Feels like that's not always the case.
see, a new upload form josh, sees it's about one of my favourite rivalries, sees it's half an hour. you have blessed us today
No one can say "ARRIVEDERCI" better than Zack Brown. He has the best Italian accent ever. 🤣🤣
That was a superb account. Way above the standard of any "typical" motorsports UA-camr. And yes they were both absolute legends but in very different ways.
Some of your best work there, Josh.
This has to be one of Josh's best videos, this was so good
Watched Rush twice (maybe it will be thrice after this video) it really captured the intensity of F1 back then.
Thank u 🙏
This is possibly some of your best work. Fantastic. 33 minutes have never passed so quickly.
Ah yes, Thor vs Baron Zemo.
FYI, we have James Hunt vs Ken Miles in Thor: Love & Thunder
BTW, will you doing Pukekohe video??
My god, josh. Your content has reached another level with this video. This was outstanding.
18:09 wasn't it Jackie Stewart, not Stirling Moss that named it that?
Possibly the best UA-cam video I’ve ever screen. Everything was perfect 👍 100/10
Josh’s video with coffee !!!! What have I discovered 😂
Great story and vid rest in peace james h and niki lauda🏎️
Niki Lauda, Niki Lauda,, Niki Lauda.
this is probably your best video yet. congratulations and thank you for producing such good content, josh!
This is in my opinion your best video that you have ever produced. Great work. Rush is a great movie and the story of rush should be told for the rest of time.
Absolutely brilliant video, mate! You should be proud.
Beautiful story. Amazing editing. Good work Josh
Josh Revell is so good at storytelling. i almost teared up towards the end. great job!
Marvelously done Josh Revell. Very well produced and carried out. Final messages were perfect and true. Keep it going!
One of your best videos to date! The beginning gave me goose bumps - I cannot wait to see this channel grow more x
Fffing brilliant Josh! I've watched the movie Rush more times than I can remember, and your video just added more to it. Thank you for putting time into making this.
What a masterpiece of a video. Congrats Josh and thanks for doing it
Wow, superbly written and told story of two great drivers. Well done Josh. 👏
This is the best F1 video I've seen on youtube... I may be biased as Rush is one of my all-time favorite movies and Josh is one of my all-time favorite UA-camrs but still. Incredible video.
I just rewatched Rush yesterday so the timing on this video is impeccable.
Great work Josh. You've stepped up the quality of your videos higher than it already was. Keep it up.
Would love to see more stories like this.
Very well done. Informative, quick witted, and no fluff. Well played sir.
Another absolutely quality video. Thank you Josh!
Phenomenal video mate, moving and always a pleasure seeing the story of those 2 rivals! Great job amazing video
All I can say is WOW. Amazing work Josh, Rush will be dear in my heart forever, an incredible story and a great film. RIP James and Niki♥️
The king has returned and has blessed us with another video
So well edited Josh, very well done, I laughed a bunch of times during this video, great work. You deserve so many more subscribers.
Fantastic piece! Would love to see some more long style videos like this, absolutely excellent!
I'm not even a formula 1 fan but I really enjoyed how you told this story, well done.
