Epic failure number 2 on the County Line 25 ton splitter in a very short amount of time here in the woodyard…
Join me as I continue to build inventory for the next heating season here at Central Minnesota Firewood. Can I start and grow a business with $300? Will it work? Find out with me as I document my days through the upcoming weeks as I try to put together a network in the firewood sales market in my area.

The look of disappointment 😢 like I can't believe that just happened. At least it wasn't a body part bent and mangled, glad you got your hand out of the way too. My boss used to say to us that we weren't working, if we weren't breaking stuff 😂😂. Cheers buddy✌️
Yes, I was slightly in shock lol. I worked for my cousin just out of high school and his saying was " if you aren't making mistakes, you aren't getting enough work done" There is some give and take there IMHO but both sayings are very true.
We say similar things down here. “Could be worse, could live in Minnesota.” As i split my wood with a maul.
MN not so bad. Great people just like any other state
I have the same splitter, I've never had that particular problem. A few things I see, if you have to put your body on top of the block to hold it in place? You probably should be splitting those in the vertical position until they are small enough to handle. Also, if it's a particularly knotty piece, you should start small around the outside, less chance of it getting stuck on the wedge. Hope you are OK.
Thanks for stopping by and commenting. Yes I used my weight to hold it down. I don't like splitting vertical but I can definitely see where you are coming from. I wasn't hurt and doing great! Thanks for the concern.
Good effort on splitting wood...slow but steady
! From what i think i saw with the accident....you were using the splitter in a way it wasn't designed to be used ...lucky you didn't pay a big price in body injury ! Sta safe ...a machine doesn't care if you get hurt !!!
Yes, it felt like I was getting some strands that if i ran it that way they would break. I was wrong
Oh snap hope you can get it bent back! Go you Packers go go!!🧀🧀👍👍
I think I'll be able too with out too much effort. Still nit happy about though
Very good ❤❤❤❤
Thanks
Have that happen as well the piece of wood gets stuck on wedge and when comes back gets into the hydraulic lever and cant stop it. Bends stuff up for sure. Take care. Bent better than broken.
For sure! No injuries, could have been much worse
The exact same thing happened to my splitter. The auto stop should have prevented it but mine didn't either. The power cycle on these goes either way and can be costly😮
The round kept the handle from kicking out. Once it twisted it was able to auto cycle. Luckily my hand wasn't in there
Hate that part bent on your splitter .
At least your hand is good . 👍🏻🇺🇸
Yeah, I'm not happy about the splitter. But it could have been much worse
I'm surprised the log stripper yielded so easily.
I am too, however I think the bolts from my stroke limiter may have helped in it as well
That stringy stuff is Elm isn't it?
This was all white oak, it was a tree close to a field edge. Had a ton of limbs so the areas where the knots are get stringy like that
O no !
We've seen worse. Tape it up and send it in for the second half.
😂🤣 As a Gen X guy this sounds like a Gen X way of looking at it. Oh well it's not that bad, I'll just finish this up and I'll fix it later when I got more time.
That's how I was looking at it, even if I don't try bend it back its still not going to mess with how it functions. Everything that moved is behind the main track path
No big easy fix
I think so
football fans are the worst.
Not all of us lol
