some points here, but first some background. I am retired military I retired in 2019, I started my first 4 years off as infantry, went to Iraq twice, wanted to go to Afghanistan so I reclassed to scout, deployed twice to Afghanistan and one rotation to Egypt, then in my last 2 years, the army decided to put me back in the infantry. now to the points. there is mechanized and light in both infantry and cavalry, there is also strykers, air bourne, air assault you name it they both have them. scouts' primary job is recon of all types. they are the unsung heroes, in fact, infamous battles like Falluja, what you don't hear about is the scouts that were there in small teams before anyone got there and were directing and providing real-time information to assault units while fighting at the same time. as infantry, I patroled places like Sauter city which was mostly driving through in humvees getting shot at, and pulled a lot of security for rangers to do cool stuff. as a scout I got to do some pretty cool stuff, if you wanna get ghillied out and get within 100 meters of an enemy complex and provide information to the assault team days before they ever get there than scout is your game, if you wanna do the patrols than infantry is your game, if you wanna kick indoors than ranger is your game. (scouts are also experts in clearing building because in urban combat a lot of recons is done from buildings) It's all unit dependent in one unit infantry is awesome and does the cool guy stuff in another infantry sucks and scouts do cool stuff. but either way, they are both combat MOS's and you will do both jobs in either MOS. however, if you enlist as infantry you could become a mortar and then spend the rest of your life convincing people that "I'm infantry too" jk mortars, you know I love you. scouts are smaller teams, in Afghanistan, my platoon was made of 3 teams of 6 scouts we were way out in the middle east Afghanistan and we did a lot of "cool guy" missions. in the infantry, we rolled deep af. scouts are on the other hand the most hated on because no one really knows what they go through on deployments and how dangerous the job really is. me, I got to see the best of both worlds and I loved doing all of it. if you want recognition, join the infantry, if you want to work in smaller teams and don't care about recognition join the cavalry. I will add, infantry gets more school slots. I would say doing both would make you a better warrior, start as infantry then go scout. that combination unlocked a lot of opportunities for me to join some cool guy units.
I ended up same but backwards. Went cav. Became infantry. Which class As do you wear. And. Can you mix , been a minute so I'm not sure on regs
The infantry guy looks like he couldn’t pass the presidential fitness test that’s given to middle schoolers much less pass army standards. Also, he was struggling with that dip trying to look cool.. Cav Scout guy looked squared away. Should of chosen a better example for Infantry MOS. Just saying..
100% agree. Couldn’t stand that guy and his nasty ass dip. No ones wants to hear/see that.
@@EARSHOTA7Xwell I guess that’s your reason not to join the infantry, so you don’t have to hear your see dip
I remember a guy built just like him on my highschool foot ball team. Ran a 7 minute mile and hit like a truck. Some guys are big no matter what they do
@@monkmoto1887Yup had a guy in my rifle company run a sub 13 2 mile and he was fatter than this guy.
You need to stick up for your friends bro.
As soon as I saw the dip come out I knew which one was infantry🤣
Really cuz every scout dips
Imagine being infantry support
@@namarbnai imagine not having eyes and ears wonder how long you'll survive without Cavalry Scouts
They're both dipping... LOL
Thats just being enlisted. Everyone either smoked or dipped.
Everyone respects medics. Its a hard job. I was 11b and our medic carried like 30 pounds more than I did.
We respect the docs because we need them!
Cant pick! You guys are all awesome & an essential part of the best arned forces in the world! Thank you for your service & keep up the great job! God bless all our service men & women!! Much love, guys!
I had a cushy AF job for 20 years, but always had huge respect for the combatants. Salute to my younger brothers!
At the end of the day,all three of them work together as one.
25:56 the dude in the right accidentally drank his dip spit but is playing it of for the camera
Lol
Omg that made me cringe that is just fucking disgusting 😂😂
@@Lui1014O I did this not that long ago and I thought it was my Gatorade but it was a spitter. And that's not the worst part. It was my roommates warm spit filled bottle...

@@TheBenAllen. thanks brother, keep strong

Half Right Face Productions definitely lol 😂
Lol yea funny glade I never did that shit. Years later they probably will have no teeth with mouth cancer. Jody gets there girl
You guys are great. Excellent advice for anything really if you kind of generalize it. Be open to new learning. Learn as quickly as you can. Remember what you’re told. Be flexible. Take direction. Don’t be too cocky. This all really applies to any trainee in a new job. Medic sounds like a cool job, but I’m not good with blood and body type stuff. So maybe scout. Then infantry. (Sorry guy on the right; you were very cool. Nothing personal.) Of course I just turned 55, so it’s pretty much all academic now.
First time dippin?
Jay Forrester that’s what i was thinking. 11b doesn’t know how to spit lol
Lol packed it like ten times too
Lol, I have a lip in right now
Man, for someone who put a dip in, he sure as heck spits allot, what the heck will he do when he has a dip in and is in MOPP 4?
MPs and Combat Engineers also do Route Recon. All four MOSs including 19K and 88M do mounted battle Drills. All basic dismounted drills (such as patrolling, assault a position, and react to contact) are found In Infantry Field Manuals. After Kosovo, Iraq, and Afghanistan, non-MP MOSs started doing MP Tasks, such as conduct a TCP or Check Point, and Conduct Convoy Security Operations. I like how all those MOSs can cover down an do things like this if there isn't enough of one type of Unit. It's rare to see it, but the Army Band Units actually perform Rear Area Security to supplement the MPs and other specifically assigned units.
Mr. K.I.S.S MPs and Combat Engineers never do recon! What a joke. Especially in theater that would be a huge mistake. Do not confuse some bum ass route Clearance mission for a true recon mission conducted by scouts. Just stop.
@@chevy3654 I never said that. But we did roll across the berm without Cav Scouts in front of us. Mike Papas don't roll as a part of a Battalion. Normally act in Squad size. But, there were plenty of MPs who took direct and indirect fire in Indian country, and there were no Grunts or Scouts to come save us.
It's like a knife, a tool with many uses.
The cavalry is the edge. They have to be a little bit sharper.
The infantry is the blade. They have to be a bit tougher.
Doctrine is all about command and control, but the reality is communication and coordination.
I was infantry in 1-4 CAV so I got to be the whole ass Saber
Was a 11B that served in a Scout Platoon for 15 years as was most of guys in my platoon.
The scout gets my vote on this one
I'm doing infantry and I'm shipping out on Wednesday

Please do this with someone in the 13 series.. I’m looking into a few mos’s in the 13 & 14 series but I’m leaning more towards 13 series.
CAT4 slot is what I was, I scored low on my asvab but was lucky to even enlist, 11b is my mos and my recruiter asked me to retake the test the very next week, walk away from the military, or choose calvary scout, infantry, or truck driver (dont really know the truck driver but it was a combat MOS). Or walk away. Im happy and I always wanted to serve with a purpose. Soldier first I leave in march 🇺🇲.
x vice what is your MOS
@@globoy.t 11b (infantry)
x vice I see you went with Infantry. Good luck brotha I wish you the best of luck🇺🇸💯.
@@globoy.t thanks man I truly appreciate it bro 🇺🇲💪
Nice to see thanks guy's
I was a scout. First unit was 3ID 2BDE 1-64AR HHC , scout platoon , medics and mortars, and hq . We trained and deployed together.... in garrison we were rivals, but still friends except medic lol , however when we deployed we all respected each other ESPECIALLY the medics.
2nd id, then 101st in Kentucky 2nd bde, 2-7 cav A platoon again.... infantry scouts mortars , and an hq but no medic platoon always together as brothers..... but yeah scouts are better ! Lol
I've been planning on enlisting for the past 11 years, I only got 2 more left and I'm hopefully going infantry. It all just depends I guess.
I'm an FO, might be switching to 19D here in a year, but for anyone wanting to get into a Combat MOS. LEARN how to Read a Map. learn how to plot of Point. and get a Direction.
That's the first thing you should know coming out of AIT/OSUT Being a 13F is not bad Either you work a lot with Infantry and Cav Scouts.
I don't know how it is today, but when I was a scout, we pulled double duty as FOs, most learned how to read a map without GPS and use a compass, etc.
It's a helluva lot easier to call for indirect fire than to try and take on a division with only a squad.
Screw that, learn how to call for indirect fire and how to call a 9-Line Medevac.
19D shipping next Monday! Been running 15 miles a week for last 4 months and staying out of trouble playing pubg
i leave march 12th for 19D and airborne training, im really excited !!
BS!
Did he say if it’s too cold I’m stationed at ft drum and it can be -10 and we still pt outside
raul rodriguez dude... I’m going there too 😂😂
Infantry is the best part about the army
11B all the way , great vid bro
Nice video!
Cav and inf are both priceless in the US arsenal, there are all kinds of arguments on both sides, I will only leave this one, a 19D field manual is the only MOS's FM that requires a level 2 clearance to even read. You ain't cav... (You know the rest)
My man on the right can’t even talk about pt standards but I think both jobs are hard in their own ways but 11b for me is more fit
I’m a prior service marine 0331 going into the Army as a E5. My two options are 11B or 19D that they gave me. Why do they say cavalry scouts are called Girl Scouts ? My counselor said 19D was like the recon in the Marines which are very well respected. Scouts are pretty much a FO right ?
Man, I really hope you didn't become a 19D. They are not like Recon in the Corp. Scouts also aren't FOs, barely any can even do a CFF mission. 19D's are dudes that wanted to become Infantry that got lied to by their recruiter and got stuck with an MOS that isn't supposed to fight, and when they do it's usually because they didn't do their job right and wanted to be like us.
It's been a year, let us know which way you decided to go.
19D salute report, we look, report, harass, get opfor to react in a manner we choose, usually in direct contact with main force(11B)! oh, dont forget that pesky artillary or air support called in by yours truely! both tough jobs ! if you can handle skirmish tactics go 19D!
Old Sager here....did 22 years infantry and the last 7 as Civil Affairs.
We had a scout platoon in our infantry battalion attached to headquarters company never saw them I always wondered where they were at . All the line companies were out front unless they were in front of the FEBA they were ghosts. Heck saw more units from the 2nd ACR than the scouts where were you guys lol
If you didn’t see them then they were doing their job correctly!
“If you ain’t Cav...”
Dipping ain’t bother me at all, I’m a grunt by heart, debating on 11b or 19d, it’s tough to pick I love everything about the scouts but I wanna kick doors and see combat. Hard to pick from the 2 only have a week left to decide
What did you end up picking?
Infantry does what it does cav does what they do they both need eachother
68W all the way! I’m off to basic February 11th and I can’t wait to be a medic!
Nikki Young awesome! Good Luck! 👌🏽
Oh Man you are so cool with that dip bro I wanna be just like you when I grow up! ... 🙄
I love 19d.. I'm signing up for it soon.
Infantry is the way. I ship for 11b August 14th and return January 15 2020.
Same bro. See you there.
Hows it been?
Infantry also does scout missions their are infantry units with scout platoons that are just 11-bravos
I notice you guys said cardio is a big thing do they have pools on base to workout in?
Most bases do!

Aight for the love of the AllFather dont quit or try to get discharged. Remember you chose this so live with it better or worse. Saw too many fuckers actively trying to leave. I was in Infantry OSUT B 1/46
Great video! Which job is more sophisticated? I scored a 97 on my Picat and I am thinking of enlisting with a 19D contract, but it seems that Cavalry Scouts and Infantry are both over saturated MOS's and tend to attract dumber people. I want to do something very physical and I want to be in the field, but ideally I want to do something that uses my mind/problem solving skills. Which MOS between these two fits me better? Anything helps
I would say 19D if you had to pick between the two.
Ivo Garner do special forces
@@cloroxbleach1165 right! Also keep in mind treat the MOS you enlist in like a something you are majoring in. You want some thing that is transferable to the Civilian world/workforce. Combat MOS usually translates to a few specific civilian jobs (Law Enforcement, Federal Government jobs, teacher)
I just enlisted as a cavalry scout
I’m trying to decide between Calvary and infantry I mostly want to do recon and raids
Scouts do it all but they also deal with all the BS
I mean, I have and I was a scout........
75th is Raids and Recon. Like, that's alllll they do. Direct action, and RRP.
Scouts recon and infantry does the raids
Scouts can do raid too. We can still perform Urban Securityy/ Reconnaissance, gotta secure a building or 2 and establish screen and provide early warning in cities and town. I’ve been learning that since I was a Pvt 7 years ago. 🤘🏾😐

Hey guys and gals. I'm new here to this channel, and i'm joining the military here soon. I'm currently 17 and I have no idea what the hell i'm doing, but i feel like I would like 11b,19d, or 19k. Took my PiCAT and got 62. Have no idea if that's good or not, but i'm soon to take my ASVAB. Anyone here have an opinion on what I should try and go for? Thanks
I'm former Army Infantry/Straight Leg Scout....if you like to shoot guns, blow shit up, sleep in the Bush for weeks on end with little sleep, while humping rucksacks that weigh a minimum of 65 LBS, not including the rest of your gear....Join the Infantry...if not....sign up for a POG MOS
So how have things gone
20:58 from the days of Al Seiber and The Apache Indigenous Scouts in the West to the Glorious Frederick Russel Burnham who Scouted for the British Army that fought against the Boer Commandos in South Africa, I think 19 Delta Cav Scouts are at the best, all the way. 19D all the way shipping Jan 17th
My brother’s a scout!
that dip in his lip struck a nerve in me for some reason 😭😂
Do you need to know your general acknowledge in OSUT Training 😬😬😵
If you're aspirations lean towards a future w/special operations: ranger battalion or S.F. Group, you'll want to go Infantry cause Ranger Battalions don't accept Cavalry Scouts and Infantry will prepare you more w/skills applicable to getting into S.F. Group. If you have zero aspirations to climb the ladder & move on to Special Operations than both Cavalry Scout & Infantry are rewarding careers. (Former: 5th Plt. Dco. 3/327th Inf. Reg. 1st BDE. 101st Division.)
If you have aspirations to go to SOF,just enlist 18 series or just about any MOS that is in the 75 Ranger Rgt.
Scouts are not in the Rgt,because theres no need for an Armored Reconnaissance plt. The Rangers have their own recon element and they are top notch tier 1. As it was said though, both MOS's can be very gratifying, but be ready to work.
2 Plt A Co 3/73 Ar., Scout Plt HHC 2/325 AIR

I want to be light infantry is there anything I can do to make me more likely to be light infantry?
If you want to be in an actual ranger battalion you have to go infantry and airborne school.
I did some scouting when I was in. Mechanized Infantry in Germany. 77 to 80👍🤠💪

what was it like doing more outdoor crap in Germany when it's cold as hell? I can't imagine being in Germany as a soldier in the Army. Air Force in Germany but not Army when you have to do group PT outside (and in today's Army we have the "PRT" crap where we're rolling like retarded idiots), then the motor pool, and the field where it's bad enough we have to go weeks without bathing.
@@macburger5026 Yeah it was cold as hell but I didn't actually didn't mind it to bad. I did a lot guard duty in the cold 👍🤠

False
Ben Allen ok thank you , i was wondering bc i didn’t leave yet so others are all i have to go off of

Infantry 💯😈💂🏾♂️
I see that you said at first you would be a driver i ship out the 19th but i got my license suspended before i even thought about enlisting, would this be a problem when i report to my first unit or would they just put me in a completely dismounted unit ... i hope its not something i would get kicked out for ? please let me know what you think appreciate it man. great video
Scouts, I was a 2 75th 11B, but my son is a 19D.
I ship out April 22 19d 💪🏻
If 11 bang bang was so good, then why do they always take from the Scout platoon in an Inf battalion whenever they need people to bring their platoons to full strength? Former 19D Scout in 4/6th Infantry, did Just Cause or "Just Because", in 4/6th Inf Battalion with a short platoon (17) of Scouts. 11B cannot do CFF or land nav without having GPS available to them. The M3 is more of a Infantry vehicle as for a scout vehicle it is too large, way too flipping tall. A proper Scout vehicle needs to be fast and short and have radios available for Call for Fire.
Ben enjoy ur videos but u need to coach subjects that they NOT eat during interview - and look into the camera!
Im interested in the content but those spitters make it hard to watch man!
Infantry!
