Scenic journey to Mt. Rigi, Switzerland using the Swiss Travel Pass 🇨🇭

- Mt. Rigi is one of the mountains close to Lucerne. This is my second visit to Mt. Rigi and the first time I visited, I took a train from Lucerne to Arth Goldau then to Rigi Kulm then back to Lucerne via Vitznau. In this video, I have visited Mt. Rigi using another journey option and I found this way a lot more scenic. The journey started from Lucerne to Weggis to Rigi Kaltbad and finally to Rigi Kulm then back to Lucerne via Vitznau. All the cost of travel is included with the Swiss Travel Pass.

loved your video!..Can you tell me about how long the trip is to and from Mt Rigi?I'm looking for good day trips when i visit Switzerland in 2022 using the Swiss travel pass.In your video you say the ferry is about 45 mins then walk to cable car is 10-15 mins and cable car is about 10 mins..so about how long is the train ride up to Mt. Rigi after the cable car?..and about how long is the trip back to Lucerne?..I understand that you take a train down to ferry..no cable car going back to Lucerne?..thank you!..
Thanks again for your comment. The travel time to Mt Rigi and back to Lucerne depends on which route you will take. In our case it took us almost two hours to Mt. Rigi from Lucerne because we stopped at some places like Weggis and Kaltbad to see what it can offer. Thanks for the comment. It depends how long you wanted to stay but in our case we spent almost a day enjoying the scenery and a bit of walking.
In which month did you travel?
We've planned to visit next year. But we don't know when it rains the most at Lucerne. We have May end to late June as holiday.

Thanks for the comment. Swiss Travel Pass is valid only within Switzerland. I am afraid you will need to purchase a different ticket from the nearest border of Switzerland to Milan. When I went to Milan from Lucerne, I changed train at Bellinzona then purchased a ticket to Milan Termini. Enjoy Switzerland.

Thanks for the comment. Both cogwheels goes to Mt. Rigi but depends where you are coming from i.e. red (Vitznau) and blue (Arth Goldau).

Hi Ed E. Thank you for your comment. You can also visit Mt. Pilatus where you can experience the Alpine Coaster if you are into that kind of thrill and adventure. You can take a bus from Luzern to Krienz, Zentrum Pilatus using your Swiss Travel Pass however I strongly suggest to check their website as there may have some changes in the coverage due to covid. You can also visit small villages around the Lake Luzern like Vitznau, Weggis etc. Please note that the video was taken before the pandemic so its worth checking the website again as to what are included in the Swiss Travel Pass. How long did it take you to walk from Rigi Kulm to Rigi Staffel?
Thanks for the comment. It depends how fast you walk but in our case it took us about 30mins because we stopped to take photos.

@@sandipg9388 Its difficult to tell but based on my experience the beginning of autumn usually rains a lot.
Je l'ai fait plusieurs fois. La première fois avec mon père, né à Lucerne. Nous avons pris un train, un jour ma mère s'est trompée , elle a pris l"autre train avec deux enfants en bas âge, ne parlant pas le suisse allemand et n'ayant aucun moyen de paiement pour retourner à la voiture et mon père.
You didn’t mention that cable car was free with Swiss pass in middle of video you forgot about helping other with Swiss pass free option and lost in scenre

However the offers for the mountain excursions can change year to year and different locations. For instance, when I went to Mt. Pilatus for the first time it was free but upon checking the website now its a 50% discount for the cable car using the Swiss Travel Pass. www.pilatus.ch/en/booking/prices.
