I personally am not against it, but to be frank, even if we were to have a democratic vote on whether gay people can have marriage rights, they’re not going to get it. just because the younger generation or a select group of people are ok with it doesn’t mean the entire population is ready to accept it
I hope Hong Kong people will be granted the freedom to expand their civil and human rights. LGBTQ people are human beings and deserve their love and contributions to society to be legally recognized. They are part of the best of Hong Kong, an open and liberal culture which is distinct from the mainland.
Hong Kong is an international city, so many people who look like foreigners have strong attachments to HK. In fact, there are over 300k ethnic minorities in HK, many of whom grew up in HK and can speak the local language: HK Cantonese.
