You had me at (no talking)
had a real 909 for 20 years. I know the machine like the back of my hand and I can tell you guys this is sooooo damn close. If I didnt know this wasnt the original and it was a blind test I wouldnt be able to tell the difference.
@Elevatorhead05 AcTuAlLy I kNoW mOrE tHaN yOu Do
Harry Merchant what’s the difference between the 09 and 08 ???
@@wheelmantony Not sure if serious, but they are 2 different drum machines, different sounds n features...
It does indeed sound very similar, a tiny bit duller perhaps but nothing some processing won't fix
I have this machine, love it to bits, sounds absolutely stunning, tight snappy snare, crystal clear sounds and very analogish sounding machine too.
I looked like a complete idiot sitting in the DMV waiting area jamming hard to this. Thank you
4:19 Nice lil' drop. Solid, funky groove. Good demo. It sounds good!
Fantastic demo. I've been on the fence about this unit for a while, mostly because of sub-menu diving and tiny controls but the sound really sells me.
Great demo. A real demo. Shows the stuff, and I think I have a good sense of what this thing does. Thank you.
nice break bro !! everyone testing their machines with a simple loop, you made it groovy
And finally the quest for real beats has ended here.Thats my sound that's my drum machine.
many people's drum machine....
So good!!!! I love it a lot!!!!!
true story: its an amazing toy!
Nice groove there.. :)
Happy u like it guys!
Why isn’t every gear demo like this?
I have a TR-8 already but I'm seriously tempted to get one of these for extra percussions. Also, it looks cute.
yeah, i think people underestimate the cute/fun factor. can prolly get a used TR-8 for the same price and load up the 909 kit on it, but this looks more portable.
Really nice jam!
merci :-)
thank you Roland!
great sound! wish it wasn't this small though... I have pretty large fingers and would love to perform with this thing, guess i'll have to build myself a Nava
Sounds great! I'd like one please:) Always preferred the 909 sound to 808 for some reason.
Sounds great
farrrk i need this along with the tb 03
Catchy number. Not a fan of the lyrics, though...
I must say that I'm not a fan, but I'm also not a snob. If it sounds fins for you then go for it. At the end only the final result will be heard and that's all that counts. Hell you could make music by hitting two pan or sticks together for all I know. If you're skilled and know what you want, anything will do so I'm not gonna shit talk about anything and no one should (unless its obviously a scam)
Aaaaaaah Phil Collins and the all so famous Roland drum machine that he made the 80's sound with....good demo bro
Nice Groove
today at 5 PM: me watching this video
today at 8 PM: me buying a used TR-09
😂 classic
did you find one? Just looked at the prices.. should have got one when i had the chance!
@@0713dm nowadays it's easier to find a GPU than a TR-09 lol
@@paolofanin Dude... I just bought one on reverb. It was about $700. I guess I reallllllly wanted it. Despite having some one-shot 909 samples already. In this rare case, my wife pushed me to get it, only because she was sick of me talking about it 😆. We’ll see how it goes. Cheerz.
Brilliant
I wonder why didn't they just start making original Roland TR-909 ? Looking at the schematics its looking to me that all parts are available even in 2021 ! They would be able to sell it for 700-800 Euro easy in the shops and they would make more money then selling this .
To the people who complain about digital drum machines, please check out the elektron machinedrum and the teenage engineering rhythm.
omg...mine shall be here 2moro!
I just got mine today.
where is the acidline for this nice groove???? :-P
wow ... pretty much skinny puppy's survivalisto there toward the end half
Haha, thats so funny! I didnt know the song and just checked it out - and yes i can see a lot of similarities ;-)
I came here to claim like #666.
BTW, what a sick beat.
No separate outputs... 😔
Four individual outputs plus stereo mix over USB.
I want to write a load of crap but then I just realize that I'm simply not a part of target market for this and this makes any arguments between different camps of people irrelevant.
It would be nice if Roland did a Pro version with at least a couple of the sounds analogue if not the whole thing.
Kink uses a Roland TR8 (a similar drum machine) almost exclusively in his performances. Unless you are as skilled with electronic instruments / drum machines as someone like Kink, and few people are, you might want to rethink the whole gear snob / target market argument. Just saying.
I already own a Tr8 and it is very useful and sounds great but for beats analogue sounds better. If you look at the Nava and Yocto clone you can hear a difference, it just sounds punchier and more refined. If a third party can put together a clone then Roland has no excuses. I also have the clone 303 which is analogue and sounds great. Like I said earlier, they could at least make the kick drum and toms analogue and keep the rest digital which would reduce the cost massively.
I've got the Nava and the Yocto, and I kind of agree with what you're saying but both of those cost me about £400 each once I'd bought all the components, and then I had to spend tens of hours on each putting them together :o
Good point, I hear the differences and could never accept this, but maybe kids are fine with something that looks vintage and gets you in the ballpark.
Would this be a good machine for drum n bass or the tr-08?
For drum n bass, I'd also consider Rytm, Octatrack or MPC Live as this style makes heavy use of samples, too. TR-08 and 09 are great machines but limited to their sounds.
true shit !
Low Cost Axial Vactrol true idiot!
Excellent review! Thank you! I need to ask you: is the closed hi hat in a shorter note duration than the other sounds? I really like it how fast it goes at the end of the pattern. If so, how did you do that?
its called a flam
Is it analog or digital ?
Digital
Doesn't sound that much like a real 909, it definitely has it's own kind of sound (which can be good or bad depending on what you're looking for)
t.u. all the talking in the other ones drives me mad
way too expensive for a circuit board and some chips and underpayed chinese workers...
Although your comment is 100% correct it's still a good instrument.
Not when you think of the history.
The fact that the Chinese workers are underpaid is half the story. The decimation of manufacturing industries in other countries is the other half. Buy your kids a job.
What phone or computer did you write this comment on?
I recorded this off youtube, laid it out in a track and recreated it with the basic Ableton 909 drum rack to compare side by side and I can say this ACB is crap for sure. On the bright side I learned a lot Ableton's 909 rack flexibility and my Push 2 and am just fine using that instead. Very tweakable actually. I don't need this thing.
Please keep in mind that YT uses audio compression which is even creating obvious artifacts between the drum sounds. also, a machine like this is about haptic and worklflow. but hey, if u are happy with software - glad for u, u can save loads of money!
I've bought all my gear off UA-cam samples.
It's the 09 snare that kills it, I think I could live with everything else. I always need a snare.
comparing just the snares was dramatically different. Not sure why this is getting so much hype.
Nothing you said makes any sense. You did an AB test with a UA-cam derived audio track?
+John Audette I shouldn't have to say anything. Listen to a 909 and then listen to this thing. I just wanted to get them side by side In Ableton. It's not like you should have to AB this. After all the years of debating analog vs vst or emulation online I'm convinced 50% of humans can't hear the details. Good for you, cheaper that way. I spent a small fortune on an analog studio for my picky ears.
Snob.
Nothing is shit here if it isn't 1. EQUALIZED 2.MIXED & MASTERED
That used to be the case for everything. Things move on. RAW is cool.
Une 909 digitale...C'est déjà pas jojo mais sans les sorties séparées ?! Quel intérêt sérieux ? C'est pour faire joujou dans sa chambre
Ou sur une scène !
Arturia DrumBrute will Kick its ass
Do you recommend it over the TR 09
T.I.N Mateus Of course!
Drumbrute is useless in techno and house.
nope, even this digital emulation sound way better than anything in Drumbrute, not even one single Drumbrute demo sounds good... Very thin and closed sounding machine unfortunately....
I was excited when I saw the drumbrute at first, after hearing the yt demos I wouldn't even get it second hand :/
Millennial programming.
Any serious studio can't take this toy seriously. The original 909 had individual instrument outs for tracking and effects routing. I suppose they're orienting this toward DJ's. Least Roland could have done was put a digital out with individual channels for DAW's. What were they thinking ! ?
buy a used TR-8 then, lol. you can pick them up for about the same price as a new TR-09
No,cause whoever have the original most probably won't bother commenting on here. Its just a regular hating stuff you read here and there in UA-cam videos.
@Donal Finn for studio
Not very funny at all !!!
nope.
