As always, videos like this one, which only contain subtitles and no voice-over can be recognized by the 🟦blue text boxes 🟦 in the thumbnails, while the ones with more detailed graphics and voice-overs can be identified by the 🟥red text boxes 🟥 in the thumbnails. So, if you prefer one over the other, you can distinguish them before even clicking on them! 😄
I remember when I was taken by surprise when hearing a voiceover, because previously your videos were pretty much only subtitled. Glad to see how you could manage to do voiceovers more frequently and well-structured to the point where some newcomers are expecting it as default 😁
I remember there was a flight from Milan to Addis Ababa with a stopover in Rome, which you guys also covered in a video a few years ago. The fact that you can book a flight on a Dreamliner on such a short distance is actually pretty cool!
@irisroeleven Speaking of flights to Milan on Ethiopian Airlines, there is also Zurich to Addis Ababa, but with a stopover in Milan. I would really love to fly the Zurich to Milan section with them, as they fly it with A350's and because I have never been on a widebody jet at all until now.
the only knock on this video is in the past in the upper left corner the would put when the video was recorded and then that would fade out and it would be replaced in the same upper left corner by who filmed it David or Felix and that would stay on throughout the video. as far as the intro goes i am not sure which i prefer. both are great. i still lean towards the original intro with the little plane flying the route and how long the trip is. but again both intros are great
Those kiosks in Vienna even when they are in use only work half of the time and I find myself just going to the counter with an officer anyways as there queue is usually empty
Nice Trip report. I flew on Ethiopian about A month ago and they’re not that bad. My only issues would probably be the transfer to the hotel or your next flight because there’s lots of people and chaos and if your flight is a night flight from Addis you literally have to RUN to get to your next departure so if you get a go-around your likely to miss your flight Edit: I also flew on ET-AXL To go from Addis abba to Atlanta via rome
I hope the 50+ new aircraft are incorporated soon, and the new airport is completed more quickly. This would give Ethiopian Airlines even more stronger competitive advantage globally.
You've been saying that since last year on every ethiopian airlines video man😂 unless people start to complain too much they won't do it. Especially since the -8s are used to fly the "less important" routes like in Africa and to India
@@baslealtadele3694 The 787-8s are actually flown all over the world, they are flown regularly to Newark, New Jersey and other places, yes I want to see change in the cabin of the 787-8s.
I was afraid that such a late flight wouldn't have a meal service, but luckily it did! I was wondering if you would get served the traditional Ethiopian sourdough.
I noticed how the flight path avoided Sudan. The world is getting full of no-fly or at least better-not-fly zones: Sudan, Syria, Libya, Ukraine, Belarus, Russia, North Korea...
Ethiopian flies out of my home airport (ohare) and makes a stop in Rome (used to be Dublin) leaving Addis to refuel, but flights going back there are direct. Weird.
Probably a physical limitation. Ethiopia to North America is already pushing the maximum range of a 787, and Addis Ababa is located so high up on a plateau (the airport is at 2,334 m / 7,656 ft) that it notably restricts takeoff performance. They might just not be able to load enough fuel to make the full journey. Going the other way that's not an issue.
@@hezec oh I see. It being a higher airport and nearly pushing the range of the aircraft to its geographic limits is what does it in one direction and not the other. Bc airports like Calgary or Denver also have longer runways to account for longer takeoff times given the air is thinner at those altitudes. Correct me if I’m wrong though.
@Thatguyjack758 has nothing to do with the length of the runway. Like the other gentleman explained, there are takeoff weight limitations when it comes to high altitude airports. Ethiopian Airlines is addressing the issue. Ethiopia is building a $5 billion airport 50 miles south of Addis Ababa that will address the altitude issue. They will be able to fly to any of their 130 destinations in the world directly!
These are our two different kinds of reviews. Tripreports are as the same suggests, just reports, stating facts without much further elaboration or input, always in the form of subtitles only. Brutally Honest is our in-depth review series where we write detailed scripts and add a voice commentary to the video giving relevant background information about the airline, product, and journey overall.
Ethiopian Airlines needs to remove the control pad on top of the arm rest, passengers usually press on the light button when they are asleep and the light is a nuisance for the passenger on the next seat. Ethiopian Airlines must come up with another option.
a brief flight search made then it turns out that if u fly from east asia transfer at ADD to europe, it cost u nearly a day to transfer... really not so nice to us
I must say that I became a fan of Simply Aviation for the no-voiceover videos. David, I appreciate the content you make as part of Brutally Honest but I am not a fan of the shrill voice and intonations, I must say. No offence, of course, and one might say I can mute the videos and turn on subtitles. I do that! Keep more of these coming, please! 🙏
I Flew with them once and it was the worst experience for me, 8 Hour flight with no WIFI which I paid for and no entertainment either. Can You do a Qatar flight Doha-Johannesburg
Ethiopian offers a very basic flight service, with outdated cabin interior. With the over $6 billion in profit they make each year they need to invest more into upgrading their cabin interior to a more modern one, and improve on the meal choices and IFE as they've been showing the same shows and movies for the past 10years or so. Clear they goal is to offer a basic flight service so they can reap maximum profit for them selves at the expense of the customer....very bad.
they are investing on their fleet which is very expensive they ordered abt 50 planes from airbus this year alone. Each plane cost abt 400m minimum.thats very impressive considering they are a developing country
I cannot understand why Ethiopian Airlines do NOT have services to Australia??? 27 Million people live here. There is a market for this Airline instead of flying all over Europe
You do realise that other countries have over 27 million people and I am sure you understand that not many people want to fly long haul to connect while there are options to fly direct from Australia
This has nothing to do with Ethiopian Airlines but I have to say that Addis Ababa is the worst airport of all time. I had a 12 hour layover there and wanted to buy some food, so I went to the exchange counter to convert some RMB into the local currency. They refused. They did not accpet RMB or ZAR. I can almost understand them not taking the Rand, but the Yuan? It's the currency of one of the biggest economies in the world. Absolute madness
How on earth can a 6hr flight be considered a red eye flight, secondly who would want to eat that amount of food that late in the evening and lastly, what on earth would you want to fly to adddis abba, surely can’t be that much to see and do in Ethiopia.
You must be living in your parents basement. You don’t think there’s nothing to see outside your vicinity & you obviously don’t think a proper meal is a meal unless it’s a leftover from yesterday accompanied by a monster drink & a multipack crisp. Go out & see the world. You will be amazed that there’s more to see in this world apart from your Xbox.

I don’t think it’s worth it. Customs or security might also take it off if they need to check what’s inside.

That's the German spelling of Addis Ababa, which follows the Amharic pronunciation with the "e" in Abeba.
