This is the most annoying fricken thing I have ever seen. I know why it exists, but it should be an opt-in/out feature, not forced once you activate it.
U figure out how to desactivate it ?
U cant undo this end to end encryption however you can downdload or backup your lost messenger using your created pin on computers. All though i never try it yet the "dl" part
I didn't even activate it. It jus automatically did it to my account by itself w out my consent as an "update". I never agreed to it n now I cnt get it off. N it says it's going to do it to all my messages, all w out my consent, as a new update feature no one gets a choice in. I cnt access an entire day of conversation on my other devices while my others r put away to charge because it makes it on other devices as if the whole conversation never existed. So if my phone dies my bf could message me n I don't know n he think something happened to me or I'm ignoring him or something worse. This doesn't make my chats more safe. It makes it less safe because it keeps me from being able to talk to my bf on another device while my phone is dead, off or charging. Which is the whole point of using messenger instead of texting. So it goes between devices when others r unaccessible. I'm having a panic attack over it
It has also COMPLETELY removed the share function, I can't send anything off Facebook to anyone with an encrypted chat. Whats the point of being able to share stuff then?!
I don't know why but this used to be an option to change it and last updates it's kind of b*******
Didn’t even ask for a whole conversation I’ve had with someone for years to be turned this I don’t like deleting messages. I shouldn’t have to delete the whole chat
We need to get a petition going around to have it removed. It literally goes against our constitutional rights! And anyone who has stock in Meta needs to sell since this is Meta's bs! We need to teach them a lesson
it is basically holding my information hostage...I cannot access any important chat boxes with my important documents

Agreed.....this is not right! Nobody should be deleting my own personal information off messenger. Putting me in actual danger.... health wise especially. Info I need is being deleted!
They deleted my messages and files!!!!! Everything now is back to april messages, this bs removed all my recent messages that I need!!!!!!
This somehow got turned on in a DM I've had for over a decade, and now know that this feature somehow doesn't have a toggle feature makes me absolutely hate the engineers over at facebook.
Does not work new chats are all end to end Encryption and it wont allow voice calling in firefox anymore Facebook has to be the worst thing in the planet but since its about the only way some communicate no other choice...
They got this so wrong. It doesn't work and it is really annoying

This just turned itself on and it is ridiculous. I can't even send a gif anymore and I keep having to restart my computer to see messages I sent.
Christ this is so annoying. I had a long time conversation going with a good friend that had numerous pinned messages. I made the mistake of turning on encryption for it not knowing that the encrypted conversations can't have pins and it would remove them. Definitely not deleting that convo as again it is years long with a lot of great memories attached to it. Such a garbage chat app.

I never requested or gave permission for it! Now, how do I get rid of it? Everywhere I've googled says to do this, and to do that, and then to delete it! Why would I want to delete the conversation... I'm sad enough I can't see some of it!! I know this all sounds overly-dramatic, but I would die if I lost my years of chats with my DEAREST friend (and the only one it's happened to, jeesh) now that Messenger encrypted it without my permission. I just don't understand 🤦🏼♀️... I want my chats back. This is horrible!! 💔
This was of absolutely no help at all! These are not secret conversations. They are doing it to every single chat. How is it that you missed this fact? I tried this useless tip this morning and guess what? The end to end encryption came right back. So don't follow this tip it does not work for conversations that were autoconverted by facebook

is feature is honestly BS, imagine if there were like children chatting with groomers and they delete those messages to end up not having evidence

Am i the only one who keeps having messages disappearing after this was implementated? Earlier today i noticed that i was able to view those messages in Chrome, but not Opera GX which i normally use. Logged on 5 minutes ago, and now i cant see those messages in Chrome either :S
this is legitimately just as bad as when apple forced those U2 songs onto peoples devices

My cousin accidentally deleted my messenger app and after I reinstalled it, the messages go way back march along with the pictures, i didn't even know I had this end to end encryption

I accidentally tapped on it while I chatting with my mom.
I deleted the conversation and deleted messenger and re-downloaded messenger back on my phone and went back to the message, but it still says end to end encryption
I think Facebook is forcing end to end encryption to all chats as like literally every single chat I have says upgraded security blah blah learn more
I have been asking ppl to text me a messenger.. seeing I can still receive their messages and I do.. so I have no idea what the heck is going on with Facebook/messenger..

@@KarenPerolino all my messages have you too I deleted them to messenger re-downloaded messenger and it still popped up in my messages there’s way to turn it off many UA-cam videos to hear about it but there’s no way to remove it
