As a NSW fan, this was embarrassing and and very disappointing, but well done to QLD, by far the better team, not only in raw talent, but also spirit, pride and sportsmanship. Good to see people discovering the greatest game!

As a new zealander best spectacle of our game hands down i went to the game wednesday night and what a atmosphere as a queensland supporter,i lost my voice from yelling and cheering so much.. You should check out nz warriors vs dragons game from last night

As a Queenslander I really wish there was an equivalent to origin for the Polynesian players like an Island of Origin or something between Tonga, Samoa and the Kiwis although being between 3 sides would make scheduling somewhat harder. Regardless I'd love to see a way of getting it to work

The state of origin started in 1980, there have only been 7 clean sweeps and QLD won 4 of them..

Just so you understand, these State of origin games are played midway through the regular home and away club season.
Teams are picked based on which state the players played their first representative game ( generally at age 16-17 although eligibility criteria is a hotly debated topic).
In a lot of cases , club teammates who play alongside each other week in week out, find themselves on opposing teams for State of Origin games which adds to the bragging rights of the winners.
Hence the game’s motto
State vs State, mate vs mate.
State of origin game 3 is on 12th of July. Kick off is 8:05pm Australian Eastern standard time (Aest).

Best runner of the ball I've ever seen in my 44 years. I've got him as my most influential player in that time period when he came to play, he'd drop in and out too much. That origin game after gasnier stood him up and he got early ball a few times and just plowed over Gaz, the winger and drew the fullback is one of the best tries of all time.

It was a pretty ordinary game as far as origin goes. If you want to see what origin is all about watch a replay of game 3 from 2022. That was a cracker.

Definitely! Game in the balance and Benny Hunt plucked the ball out of air from a kick and raced away to score a try is one of those moments that shows what Origin is about. Those big plays to win a match. Game 2 was... unusual. NSW dominated in basically all the stats and yet QLD ran out to humiliate NSW due to their great defence and making the most in attack. It's a bit cliche to say "Queensland finds a way" but this was a little ridiculous.

However their are now new generations of ex pat kiwi kids being born in and playing for Australian clubs.
What unites our two countries the most is.... family connections, war and sport.

Walsh is a great player right? But the thing is, he doesnt hog the ball so he doesnt score much. He has good eyes and passes it where it needs to go to score. Not like Tedesco, the ball just dies with him.

I might be wrong but I can't see any comment truly explaining what this game is to you.
State of Origin means the best players from each geographic state that you played your first club game for, the best players who started at Queensland vs. the best players who started in New South Wales. So it would be like California vs. New York State, or probably a better way to describe it, the best players who started their career in the AFC vs the best players who started their career in the NFC in NFL.
As a result you see players who normally play their club level together, playing against each other. They play 3 times per year to see which state is best. That's why there is so much hype for these 3 games.
To answer your question, they always play 3 games regardless if a team has already won the first 2.

What I loved most about game 2 is that nearly all of the points scored were by the boys who play for my NQ Cowboys 😊 and one who used to play for the cowboys last year.

EDT: Val Holmes trialled for New York Jets but didn’t make the cut. Jarryd Hayne made San Francisco 49ers playing roster as a RB/KR and ex Souths junior Jordan Mailata plays for Philly Eagles as a LT so you were kinda close haha. Great try from Val Holmes tho 👊🏽😊.

They still play the third game. Its a bit of a dead rubber because the other team still cant win the series. But allows qld the chance to beat them 3-0 or for the blues to get a chance to get something at least.

@@gohammtv You can do that, but it's better to play your best players, cause It's like a mix of diff players from diff clubs but they're all from QLD/NSW so they typically don't play with each other until origin, so even a dead rubber game 3 is still a good chance to build combinations and team plays for next year
@@gohammtvthere will be no resting players in Origin mate. Even though Queensland have locked up the series they will want to get the first clean sweep since 2010 in New South Wales own house. NSW on the other hand will be desperate to avoid it. Expect the game to still be all guns blazing. As far as rest goes the actual NRL clubs tend to play their Origin players limited minutes during these weeks so they don't get injured. State of Origin always takes precedence over club though.

so they will want the best players that are available(according to the coach and the selectors)
Right now NSW are the loosing team, they will do everything they can to prevent being a, humiliated loosing team(state)
and QLD will do everything they can to make it so.
Expect a little more, let's say 'temper issues' in the final bash. It will be Awesome..

-BILLY (THE KID) SLATER (1) was part of that team and now he's coaching.
-His assistant coach is CAMERON SMITH (9): on of the Captains of that dynasty. He holds the record for most Origin Appearances.
-Passing on coach messages and managing from the sideline is JONATHAN THURSTON: the greatest origin 7 so far. He holds the most Origin plints scored.
-Running water bottles and encouragement to the team also played number 7 before Thurston is ALLAN (ALFY) LANGER.
NSW have Brad Fittler (6) who was a great. Amazing even. And he's alone and the mob has shown up after his losses.
Love the way Go hamm doesn't blink when he is watching, doesn't miss a second. His excitement is a joy to watch. Take the hit like a man. No padding or helmets like NFL. Only one team in attack and defence.
If you do nothing else mate. Watch these 3 games each year. It's the pinnacle of our great game. If your chasing suggestions I would put forward Matty Bowen, Jonathan Thurston and Greg Inglis. Our first nations boys got something different.

State of Origin is best out of 3. QLD have won the first 2 so they retain the shield as they also won 2 to 1 last year. The teams now consist of the best players usually born or raised from a young age in either the state of QLD or NSW. Some players will literally play there club teammates
Basis of the game is can only pass the ball back. Once in the goal zone you must plant the ball on the ground with pressure. When offensive kicking, you need to be behind the kicker at the point of kick to contest the ball or it will be called offside. Certain acts warrant penalties, others can warrant 10 minutes on the sideline which can cause a 12 vs 13 player game. A send off is leaving the field for the rest of the game reducing the team to a permanant 12 person team.

Forward passes are not allowed in a Rugby League. also, the player scoring the second try was getting as close to the uprights (goalposts) as possible. The conversion is taken from a parallel position to where the ball was "grounded" or put down.

We are kicking off the NRL season for the first time over in Las Vegas next year we will be looking at having 4 teams to go over and host two games which will be played at the stadium of the Las Vegas Raiders. I’m hoping we get a good turn out I have a feeling a lot of Americans will enjoy it in the meantime you should react to more games I’m a Broncos fan and have been a Queensland fan since I was a young child would love to see us win game 3 as well it’ll be called a white wash in state of origin.

A team can only have possession of the ball for 5 tackles. After that, they have to give the ball over to the other team. That's why you often see the teams kick on the 5th tackle - it's because they know they're going to have to give the ball over, so they may as well kick it deeper into the opposition half.

My father raised me to be a kind man, do the right thing but always hate NSW. Not the state, well, maybe when the game is on but to hate the side. When i was 5 my mother had to work a double and i was at cub scouts. When we finished the first game of the year had started 5 minutes ago, dad sees me dawdling, screams at me, puts his v8 Monaro in reverse to get as close as possible. It was a 3 minute drive home but we made it on one. Our street had a hill inbetween lanes so rather than go around dad flew down the wrong side, handbraked the car to a 180 stop and ran inside while yelling at me to lock his pride and joy. For my father to drive like that then leave me to lock his car up dawned on me how important it was to him. Before 1980 when the states played you played for the state where you played club football. NSW, having the biggest city in Australia and the best club scene used to come up and beat us with queenslanders in their side, they flogged us for decades. In 1980 a senator and a few others came up with the state of origin idea. NSW didn't take it too serious at first, thinking guys who played at the same club wouldn't belt each other. 10 min in the Qld captain absolutely smashed his club mate, not legally either, totally belted him. Since then the games have been so fierce there's nothing like it. It's bigger than anything in our two states, nothing comes close. GO QLD!

Hey brother. You've probably been told this already but ,this series had been played for decades under different eligibility rules.Originally you had to play for the state your club was played in. This meant that because the richest clubs were in NSW , the best QLD players migrated and had to play for NSW. This created the terrible outcome of QLD players having to represent NSW and playing against their brothers . The results were lopsided victories every year for NSW , which caused great pain for QLD every goddamned year. The entire series was in danger of being cancelled due to lack of support until they changed eligibility to the state you were born in. The 1st game under the new rules became folklore as finally, QLD players were allowed to represent their beloved state and the QLD captain punched his NSW (club) teammate and they won a most famous victory for QLD. The passion of QLD is now legendary and it's the reason for so much emotion and the series is considered almost as a religion to the entire state of QLD. Anyway , hope this helps put things in perspective for you and believe me when I tell you it's much, much more than just a game. Love your work brother.

There is one more game on the 13th of July. But it won't affect anything the might maroons have won! Just one point you said about halfway through "it's the 3rd and they (NSW) still haven't scored." The game is played in two halves and the counter in the bottom right is the tackle count, each team gets 6 tackles for each posession similar to downs in the NFL.
Loving the content, I love NFL and when I was learning the game watching actual games helps alot. If you can get a VPN and watch it on streams then you'll learn so much more. Broncos or Panthers games are the better games to watch this season.
Would definitely recommend watching the regular season so you get to know the players alot more and then it makes games like the State of Origin and World Cup even more enjoyable!
Like i go for QLD but my team that i actually support in the NRL is the Parramatta Eels, which is a NSW based team and Mitchell Moses plays for them, he also got picked for game 2 of Origin for his 2nd ever appearance in Origin. So things like that just add to the viewing experience because i was going for QLD but hoping Moses played well.
The highlights don't do justice to the game. Queensland were hitting hard on defence and just denied NSW any space to attack. Was a great showing of how hard State of Origin games are.

It's the best out of 3. Wednesday night winter time here, each game 3 weeks apart played in different locations mostly Brisbane and Sydney.
