Glimpses of Silver Jubilee Celebration | Montfort School Roorkee

- The year-long silver jubilee celebrations of Montfort School, Roorkee, came to an end with a grand cultural extravaganza put up by the students on the evening of November 21, 2019 (Thursday).
The programme commenced at 4:00 p.m. with a procession-march led by the school band escorting the Chief Guest and other dignitaries towards their seats. A special band from Kerala rendered a captivating performance followed by a prayer song seeking the blessings of God and the National Anthem, respectively. Messages of felicitation marking the occasion received from the Pope, the Prime Minister and the Chief Minister of Uttarakhand were read out to the audience.
The gathering paid homage to Late Rev. Bro. Thomas and Late Rev. Bro. Cyriac Francis whose unique contribution towards the growth of the school cannot be overlooked.
The school orchestra band of students played soft and dulcet music throughout the evening and set the mood for the event. The cultural programme commenced with the lamp lighting ceremony followed by a prayer dance. Some soulful motivational group songs were rendered by students that left the audience mesmerized. The Chief Guest and the Guests of Honour were honoured on the occasion along with the other VIPs including the former principals of Montfort School in a grand felicitation ceremony. Members including teaching and non-teaching staff who dedicated many years in the selfless and committed service to the school and brought the school to its present glory were also felicitated during the ceremony. The Principal released a Jubilee Calendar; ensuing which came the much awaited part, the enactment of the play by senior students titled ‘The Silver Stride’. An hour-and-a-half-long play showcased the journey of the School right from its inception leading to the jubilee year; well punctuated by several Indian, as well as, western group dance performances. In his address, the Chief Guest Rev. Bro. John Kallarackal generously appreciated the rare display of talents and effort of students and the teachers. He said, “What is worth doing at all is worth doing well”. His speech was followed by the presentation of the jubilee song titled “The Silver Paean” leading to the spectacular grand finale that included all the participants, student cabinet, volunteers and the entire teaching staff.
The Principal Bro. Albert Abraham thanked the august gathering for being a part of the celebration and congratulated the entire staff in his address; in particular the Vice Principal Bro. Binu Cherian, Bro. James K.C., the Coordinators Mrs. Santina Fernandez, Mrs. Lizy James, Mr. Deepu Thomas, Sister Santhana Mary, Sister Priya and the jubilee event coordinators Mrs. Shalini Sharma and Mrs. Malini Kulshreshtha for putting in the effort tirelessly round the year to make the event a grand success.
To conclude the programme, the Head Girl Vanshika Dwivedi thanked everyone on behalf of the Montfort family. The event ended at 9.00 p.m.
