Death is just as much of an integral part of life as birth is. The dead languages and species are remembered through what the living ones are not. And without that death, we would not be as complex as we are today, in speech or biology
@@jek__ What are you talking about? Dead is dead, you're pretending everyone got studied and assimilated into modern society rather than displaced enslaved and killed off by it lol. Doesnt matter your colour, we were all fully gentrified by the end of 1800s.

It's a bit disrespectful to cover the extinction of a language in this way. It's been used in the title to draw in viewers, but then given the least amount of time. This feels flippant. Eradication of religion and culture shouldn't be shrugged off.
This needs to be renamed 'a walk around Hobart'. There's an awful lot covered which people would be missing from the current title. Also, the 'last' Aboriginal woman is not factually accurate and is rather offensive to Tasmanian Aboriginal people today.

Most of us tend to pay more attention to the shiniest position in the market to the cost of proper diversification.
So many languages have been lost. So glad that linguists have documented some.
Most people were killed too quickly.
What a weird little man

abandon*, not lost.
Misleading title. Should've been called Hobart Walk-about or something because I thought the whole thing was going to be about the lost language.
The Tasmanians were one of the many peoples who got genocided by the British empire. The slow Nazis.
Most their descendants now pretend to be the legimate owners of these land .( Canada, Australia, U.S )
@What Was That?? It is called emigrate !
The effective Nazis more like
The Nazis ain't got shit on the British empire's kill count
plants genocided about 90% of life on earth when they first showed up

I can’t believe he said “Who killed Kenny?” 😆❤️
Dunno but their a bastard lol
Got to love the little jab at South Park there who killed Kenny joke in the very beginning of the show.
He is such a laugh! I love every one of his specials!
[8:14] Now that's dedication, brought his pint with him into the cellar crawl space.
I want to know how he did it without spilling it :=)
Tony Robinson one of the best
Thanks for the lesson baldrick!

2:42 it's always Kenny. Apparently doing the actual continuation of the quote gets censored
Is that a South Park reference?

When does it actually get to the aboriginal woman?
There’s a timeline for the video in the description box…
She's a millennial, it's ok honey.
23:30 ish
The Fact is Fanny Cochrane Smith was the last full blood Tasmanian Aborigine who spoke the language. There are plenty of us Tasmanian Aborigines here.
Misleading title. The bit about the aboriginal language was only a couple of minutes.
Just finished reading "The Potato Factory" so this was timely. (Cheers for the upload)
My beautiful Hobart ❤️
Title is not revealed to the very end 😑
Yes It is
I want a reindeer coat now 😩
Well, go hunting.
@@DanteTimberwolf 🤣
Gosh. Did anyone else watch Time Team? 😭💕

So can you still get a good curry in Hobart??
Did this seriously just drop and im one of the first to view?! I feel so special lol!! Usually I lm the last to get things.
Even if it turns out you weren't #1...😬 you can still be considered #1:) The honorary #1...😁
“Who killed Kenny?” 😂
Rhoned a sad and sensitive topic with the usual callous buffoonery.
Must you have this guy 😩😩

Something is off about Ila’s timeline. She supposedly played tennis with Errol Flynn in the early 1920s, yet she’s only 102? Doesn’t add up.
This show ran in 2012, probably filmed a year before so the timeline isn't off

it's that baldrick? 🤔

THAT'S A DATE!!!!
The title is deceiving.
Hi 😁🤪
🤫
Did all of Tasmania have just one language before the white fellas did it? Are you sure of that ?
No, there were a few languages. They are now combining the known words into a new combined Aboriginal language.
