    Dr. Lori, I used to collect dolls. Began with the ones from my childhood. No money for them anymore. *sigh* But I chose what I liked, consequently I love them all. Used to go to doll shows, however they’re not as plentiful as the ‘80s & ‘90s. Guess it’s a generational type of thing. But I so much do miss them. And, there used to be doll shops all around, and I miss them a lot as well. So! I love it when you do stuff with dolls; but I’ve loved antiques ever since I was five years old. Now, I’m ‘an old broad’.

      Hi Jaynene, I know your message was awhile back but I feel there is an upswing right now in doll collecting and interest, you might see if there are some doll clubs in your area. We also have all the online shops and FB pages to share and collect. Doll shows are starting up again after covid, so many ways to still enjoy dolls with others! Check it out!

    That appraisal I know was not correct at the time of this being filmed ,The ice skater doll has always held a good price , and these are or were going for a few hundred, and the little baby doll that is not called a dream baby , I believe is a Canadian Reliable one. I maybe be wrong but Armand Marseille had the dream babies 351 ect. This little video I think was maybe made for school children with the interest of collecting , Sorry Dr Lori

      Hi there mooncake. There is an Arranbee Dream baby doll as well as the A.M. 351 dream baby, but I wholeheartedly agree with you about the rest of "Dr. Lori's" appraisal here. A lot of the stuff she says on here seems to be a bit "off".

    Stands can squish the vinyl dolls belly but I have a trick..Get a hairdryer and blow it on the bump and just use your fingers and push and run it around..Works like a charm..Composition dolls this won't work on

    Why are doll stands damaging?

    How could that dream baby be 1910-1920 in plastic?

    Authentic Sonia Henny doll would be marked with her name on the back or neck. This is not a real one, just redressed as her.

      yes, and the face of the sonja henie dolls i've seen is always quite similar to the celebrity, like in the case of shirley temple dolls that always tried to reproduce the features of her, but the doll in this video has a very cummon face, a face that a lot of composition dolls have.

    That is not a Dream Baby. They were made of porcelain bisque

    There is no such thing as being a “PhD in antique appraisal”. I think it’s presumptuous, also makes me think of a newspaper columnist approach to “antiques advice” which is kind of outdated. I am very interested in antiques and appraisals, but so far this isn’t very compelling for me.

    Why is the value so cheap?

    • @julieking5151
      @julieking5151 2 роки тому +4

      Because they are just vintage, and composition dolls will never be as valuable as French bisque dolls from the late 1800’s. People think any old doll is worth a lot, but not true. They need to be made before 1930 to be considered antique, and even then some are not worth much like tin headed dolls, China head dolls, it’s all about the market and what people are looking for and collecting..
