Well to be honest, that is a quite work. Well done. Nobody gives that much detail especially reviewers, they focus on silly details. This is what we need. Well done...
1) Audio is louder on Note 5, have to normalize both to really compare which one is better 2) Note 7 video is brighter but Note 5 Ai seem to have more detail 3) The focus is better on Note 5 4) Images are better on Note 5 5).... Basically, 48MP is a downgrade, Samsung sensors are probably a long way behind Sony Sensors or it might be 660 ISP Really hope that Note 7 pro improves over Note 5 with snap 675 and Sony 48mp sensor
He didnt touch any settings so this is a default setting and plus this 48mp things is just a gimmick, this happen alot in the past actually, not quite sure why they taken this route again
Redmi note 5 AI/Global variant as used in this video uses Samsungs camera as well(actually a good one, same as found on Galaxy s7 edge), RN5 pro uses sony sensor.
It is not real 48mpx. It is interpolated. It is a 12mpx senzor that interpolates to 48mpx then it does pixel binning to 12mpx. It is a strange choice.. The SD660 can't even handle 48mpx
Note 5 has gone through quite a bit of updates. It would be interesting to see this comparison again after note 7 goes through some updates too. Note 7's pictures look sharper when you crop it in.
Well Note 5 pro was slightly better, the thing with Xiaomi/Redmi phones is when they launch chinese variants they are not well optimised wait till global variant or an update
Yeah? My guess it will still have problems, bad optimisation they have too many phones and not enough hands-on staff to fix and optimise cameras and fix bugs.
I agree about the first two, but it does not have more natural colors, the note 7 wins in that department in every daylight photo. RN5 looks like it has a yellowish filter over every photo, compared to note 7.
Koro Sensei but Note7 looks like it has bluish or pinkish filter over the image. Not good also. Most pleasant colors are from A2. If we talk about xiaomi ~$200 phones.

actually I'm using Note 5 Ai from october until now(been 5 months now) and the problem with Note 5 if I had to compare to my brother's note 7 is these : Camera (photo) : On the note 5 the colors looks more pale especially on the bright light and while on the note 7 it looks more natural and vibrant, and the best camera are the one that made the picture looks more natural and I prefer note 7. Audio : okay, let's be real here. Note 5 audio capturing system Sucks, the voice looks like its about to crack it self and I honestly prefering to record sound from my friend's phone while on the note 7 I liked how it sounds more compact rather than on Note 5. We won't be talking about processor because it's not ideal if I mention it since we know that Note 7 is the latest series of Mi Note. I won't be talking about the other things (display/design/other) so I prefer Note 7 (from my user experience)

Many reviewers I see said if you already hv 636 it's not really recommend to upgrade to 660 device. The big upgrade from 636 is more recommend to 710 or 675.

i think its hasty to judge redmi note 7 because it does not have any updates yet, unlike redmi note 5 ai/pro that already have lots and tons of update to maximize to max its performance and for camera.

Can you show us the iso and shutter speed of both photos since the rn7's camera captures 31% more light then the rn5 yet it doesn't show in the pictures
Back camera is better on 7 mostly, minus that focus pulsing. If you like cool color temp, then 7 is definitely the one to go. Audio is also better but quieter, probably due to noise cancellation. Front facing is clear 5, frame rate, noise, etc. is just better.
I have been using Note5 since 2018. It has terrible camera with so much of noise/grain. I am looking if there was any kind of update to fix that. However, now in 2021, I still use it and play Call of Duty mobile when I am free, its def okay for an occasional player.
RN5 seems to capture lot more dynamic detail than RN7... Seems weird. However I'm pretty sure GCam and such will make the RN7 camera better.. also overall RN7 comes with better specs and better features (QC is a BOON ppl).

If the pixel camera app is installed on the note 7 I suspect the note 7 will leave the note 5 in the dust.I believe that the note 7 unlike the 5 has the necessary API already activated meaning no need to unlock the bootloader and root the phone to install the pixel camera, which is a 100% advantage over the note 5
Maybe Redmi Note 7 bugs camera apps. I using Redmi Note 4, audio from mic very awful, bad audio. But, I am using Snapdrgon Camera, it's ok. Normal sound. But not with stock apps from miui, very awful, bad audio. 🤣 And I also using Redmi Note 5, I so like it. Hehehe

Note 7 looks very artificial in colour, while the Note 5's colour reproduction are more natural. However while the mic on the RN5 is much louder, I think the mic on the RN7 does a better job at sound separation. So imo Note 5 takes much better photos/videos and the Note 7 has the better mic (needs to improve the loudness though).
Don't know how true this is but I read somewhere that with the RN7 Pro version (not RN7) that it comes with a Sony IMX sensor instead of the Samsung SM1 used in the RN7. Apparently the Sony sensor performs better?

If camera mattered the most the Redmi Note 5 Ai for its focus speed. otherwise the build and slightly faster Redmi Note 7 is still very nice.

Remi note 5 mic is too sensitive. It even picks up my breathing and I don't like that.

In my opinion RN5 wins for now but RN7 have a new camera sensor, so I believe Xiaomi will have a long way of software updates to refine it :-)

Hi Chris, soooo many xiaomis on your reviews. Why did you give up on meizu. So many interesting devices from them. The 15 plus, the 16x, the x8.
Simple, lack of support from their hardware section. I have one before and when i got a hardware faulty, its so hard to find the replacement part
