O U T S T A N D I N G directions. I've had my extender for almost a year and until i saw this information I was able to set it up of course with a little effort. but it is working out great. Thank you Agent Villegas. you are the man.
I haven't read through all of the comments but, just in case, the critical part for me and getting this set up was to reset the extender to factory settings. Somehow I had set it up incorrectly the first time. After a quick reset, these instructions finished the job!
I have this extender / access point paired with my Nighthawk router. The combination works flawlessly. I have a shed behind my house with a metal roof and a foil heat barrier. I couldn’t get a cellular or WiFi signal inside. I had to step outside on the porch just to get a single bar. After installing this set up I now have full WiFi in the shed and a strengthened faster signal in my home. Your instructions were clutch. Thanks!
If a person is rich enough to own a mansion they'd probably invest in multiple modems/routers as well as extenders to make sure the entire place is dead spot free.
hi @Best Buy, thank you for this video, it helped me alot, but my question is can i use 2 extenders? after connecting my first extender, do i connect the other extender to the first extender?
Typically, range extenders are designed to connect to the central WiFi router. While technically possible to create a string of extenders in some cases, each new hop decreases performance. Instead, we'd recommend looking at a mesh network where each node fully supports the others through a back channel for larger area coverage. Learn more about mesh networks at ua-cam.com/video/AaMxiyF1OL8/v-deo.html.
Well, bummer. My extenders don't have any button to press. Also, when adding Wi-Fi plug , app asks me for a password. Which one ? One for my Router, for my Modem, for my Network, for my extender ? do i have to create new password ? It is 2023, all this stuff should link automatically. Regular person has no idea how to navigate through configuration page.
Thank you for watching! If you're still having trouble after watching this video, we'd recommend chatting with Geek Squad to further diagnose your issue at bby.me/wkepdn.
It's for creating a wired connection to a nearby device if you choose to in extender mode, and in access point mode it's meant to pick up the signal from your primary router instead of doing it wirelessly.
Thank you so much WPS button wasn’t working at all almost like they did it on purpose because I called tech support and they were trying to sell me a firewall because mines not secure which is a lied. FYI I had a NETGEAR extender can’t remember the name exactly but is like $30 and the upgrade version is 44$ in Amazon which they both suck for my Situation. I’m about 175 feet from the main router max speeds I got was 40 and a average of 20mbps. Now with this EX6250 I get an average of 100+mbps and my Xbox which is wire gets 150mbps. And our main wifi is on 200mbps max and I’m almost 200 feet away but also no trees or nothing in my way
I am having issues with my connection. My netgear has the first two lights on and they are green. But the second two lights are off. They were on previously on and everything was working great. This system has gave us several problems, my phone offloaded the app to save storage, by doing this it basically erased the entire system and we haven't had wifi upstairs in days
I did every step for the WPS set up multiple times. I even got the two green lights to come on but whenever I search for a network I could never find one that has “EXT” on the end.
For a geek like me, that was a lot of instructions. I’m looking for something that’ll have a wizard type of setup, having fewer picks, passwords, and other data to set …. Thanks anyway 2-12-2022 👍🏻🇺🇸
There are a lot of variables that may cause this, specifically within the settings of your router. For help specific to your setup, contact the WiFi extender manufacturer's support team for recommended settings.
I have an Asus 2.4/5G wifi that's connected to an Arris modem/router. Both have WPS and give off signals with both bandwidths. If I'm going to add an extender, which WPS would I turn on?
Once connected to the extender, that website link will normally connect you to a web server on the extender itself. If you're still having trouble connecting, we recommend contacting the manufacturer's support team directly for help with your individual setup.
does it extend the range so that it stays the same amount of mbps while I'm in the garage right below and the box? how strong will it be and does it help the strength at all?
My net gear was running good and out of nowhere all the lights are on and when i press the factory reset nothing happens. By any chance do you guys now how to troubleshoot it ? Would help a lot thank you in advanced .
If you haven't, you may want to try unplugging the extender completely, give it a minute, then plug it back in. For further support, contact the manufacturer directly at my.netgear.com/support/contact.aspx.
Do I have to keep continuing turning on the Wi-Fi on my phone for the extender can work only cause when I turn my Wi-Fi off my phone the extender stops working I thought the stays on without turning your Wi-Fi on on your phone
If the Wi-Fi extender supports running a network cable across the house from the router, then yes, that will improve performance. However, not all Wi-Fi extenders will have a physical port to support this.
Start by disconnecting the WiFi extender from power and confirming you can access websites while connected directly to the WiFi router. If that works, we recommend resetting the extender as per the manual and then going through the setup again to ensure something wasn't misconfigured. If the issue persists, you may want to contact the manufacturer for troubleshooting steps specific to that make and model extender.
Ben Lewis I just set up mine as instructed in this video and it worked perfectly first day. Now it’s giving me problems and it doesn’t connect to our devices. It causes my devices to not connect to the main Wi-Fi name that is not with the extender at the end Of the name. Do you have any advice on this issue?
Ben Lewis no, I did not reset or start the process over. Is this what I’m supposed to do every time the Wi-Fi gives out? Am I to unplug the modem every now and then to reset the connection? Will this Wi-Fi extender always have this type of issue and not stay constantly on?
If you haven't, we recommend a full factory reset of the extender and a setup from scratch. You may also want to contact the manufacturer directly for additional troubleshooting steps. In the case of Netgear, they can be contacted at www.netgear.com/support/
We can appreciate your wanting to get this working. For technical support, visit www.netgear.com/about/contact-us/ or if you're still within the return window, we'd be happy to exchange the extender.
