DIY Yarn/wool Winder Update

Half a year ago I build a yarn wool winder out of wood and a bit of brass and aluminum. Together with the wool dual spool holder I build you can use it to wind up new balls of yarn out of industrial yarn spools or simple combine different threads of yarn into a single ball… (just to be clear: this is my wife’s hobby, not mine!)
Although the wool winder works quite well, there is always room for improvement and in this video I apply a couple of improvements and do’s and don'ts to the yarn winder as a result of 6 months lessons learned.

Tilt on spindle, if I remember correctly is 30 degrees. Once you get the angle right your winder will make beautiful cakes!

Turning some of the parts on the lathe take most of the time... I think less than a day in total...
