I love these small sets because they were simple and you could use them with both Joe or Cobra. I usually had Roadblock manning the machine gun defense unit while Rock&Roll operated the Whirlwind. Hope that you review more of these smaller play sets you do an outstanding job with them.

+magnificentfungizoids Thank you! I intend to review all of them. I don't know how long that will take. I like these little sets.

I remember seeing these & overlooking them because I thought they were "cheapy." The way you displayed all 3 together make them look like they would have been a lot of fun as kid to play with. Makes me wish I'd gotten them. If only there were HCC788 UA-cam back in the 80's. Now, makes me wish I had a Delorean.

+Hector Canales I did exist back then! I was there, playing with these toys! But there was no UA-cam at the time, and I was 10.

Those barricades or what originally got me into using styrene. They were so realistic and I had to have more guarding my bases.

Fantastic review! That sign, connected with twistie ties from trashbags (paper covered wire, did I just age myself lol) and painted popsicles sticks made up my PIT perimeter fence. My mom got so mad at me when she saw how many of the twisties and popsicle sticks I used. The sticks made the vertical posts, while the twisties made up the horizontal barbed wire.
Small nick in stick, insert twisty, repeat until the fence had three strands on each stick side, I had the twisties on the far side of the stick and folded over so no matter how hard Cobra pushed, the barb wire would not break free!
Not bad for a 6th or 7th grader, lol. Love your channel man!

I remember buying it at kmart for the$1.50. it was a neat addition to the bivoac. I didn't have the Joe headquarters. using the bivoac, forward observer, machine gun, mortar, howitzer and watch tower it made for a nice make shift base. throw in the flak, whirlwind, Hal, and mms I had a better set up than the headquarters. that was until the tactical battle platform came out. my Joe's lived happily ever after that.

+hateyou2 In particular, it would be nice to have multiple Mortar Defense Units. I would really like more sandbags.

This review is the dogs bollocks! I didn't know that these even existed. I love that you try to find, actual weapons, that the toys are copied from. BTW I've passed this site onto a buddy, who owns a vintage toy store. Keep it up.

I remember being annoyed that the figure could not "hold" the grip of the gun while in the prone position. I would have liked a taller tripod analogous to the one that came with the 1986 Roadblock. I didn't buy any more of these sets because of that! I have them all now and definitely appreciate them much more.

It's funny for I was so young at the time I felt ripped off after purchasing one of these sets. Later I realized the greater purpose for them and they were highly appreciated. Guess you could call it a personal growing up experience.

cool I only had the machine gun set ...it was OK I actually trimmed down the handle so my figures could hold the gun

+M.G.Villan Not a bad idea. Otherwise you have your gunner just *near* the gun, rather than shooting it.

+HoodedCobraCommander788 I liked the idea you had about switching the accessories around too that's what made these sets really cool

in my opinion the best soldier for the missile defense system would have been Zap...cause he was the Bazooka soldier at that time so his roll would have fit that set better than Grunt

I had this set. A I felt gypped by Hasbro. I didn't get any of the other sets. But now I can see I should have. They are interchangeable as you said.
