Multiple varieties of pan flutes have been popular as folk instruments. The pipes are typically made from bamboo, giant cane, or local reeds. Other materials include wood, plastic, metal and ivory.
The pan flute is named after Pan, the Greek god of nature and shepherds, often depicted with such an instrument.
The pan flute has become widely associated with the character Peter Pan created by Sir James Matthew Barrie, whose name was inspired by the god Pan.

Beyond words, So beautiful as if i am transported to another plane of life.
Same for me my friend. I remember seeing some guys in Newcastle about 10 or 11 years ago dressed like this and playing same kind of music. Sadly I wasn't into recording Buskers / Street Performers back then.

I didn't, no . . . . . My trip to York was a spur of the moment thing, I had no idea these guys would be there.
