Hi Jasmine! How is the culture there? I know the students are rich but is it overbearing? I love the school but I'm scared of the environment. Will someone who does not want to do greek life, is a poc (black), and isn't super rich fit in? I don't want to have to find out myself after already deciding and enrolling at the school.
Hey! I don’t think it will be hard to make friends if you aren’t in Greek life. I’m not in Greek life and most of my friends aren’t either. Everyone rushes second semester so you’ll have the whole first semester without anyone in a sorority/frat. And as for the rich thing, that’s def there and smu has that rep. But a lot of my friends come from many different economic backgrounds and I don’t feel out of place. There are a lot of clubs for poc where you will be able to find a community in those areas!
