That would be epic
Hey! Not just guys who enjoy these videos! I am an elderly woman, I always helped my husband with work, commercial shrimping with 55ft and 65 ft boats, way out in the Gulf of Mexico, NOT for the faint of heart...always having to fix something, his hobby of repairing old vehicles, etc. I am really enjoying his "never give up "attitude" and the fact that in spite of what he's doing is dangerous, he's very careful, and no one gets hurt!
That’s awesome and I’m not just saying that good for you
And to think it a job! Playing with big cats.I could dig it!
Very true, not only guys like this kind of thing. Was raised with 3 brothers. Was always getting greasy helping work on cars growing up.
You sound like an awesome lady!
I love these videos
Between you guys and Matt's Off Road Recovery I spend entirely to much of what little spare time I have on UA-cam. Love these recoveries!
I am trying to keep up on the job's you are doing I Warr helping me recover from brain tumor surgery
Me too.

I feel like I imagined this kind of stuff when I was seven years old in my sandbox. Incredible to see the weight and power these machines are capable of.
this comments underrated i never thought of that that’s exactly the stuff that we imagined when we were kids!
Need to get a big piece of plate steel for a skid, and put the dozer on it to drag out. We do that for tracked vehicles at the steel mill. Getting the tracked vehicles from one end of the plant to the other would take for ever. Put the tracked vehicle on the plate steel skid and drag it with a big loader. Always look forward to your videos.
How long does it take to chew through a steel plate with all that weight on it?
That would destroy the road
Not worth carrying it most the time but I feel you the idea is solid if you have it on hand.. but with a D8 you don't even need it lol
They drag it across pavement and they use it for a long time before they make another one.
We do the same thing in the Mine where I work. We put the broken/dead mashines (up to 100 metric tons) on steelplates to drag them to the repair places.
"we'll do one pass and leave the road in a better condition than we found it." I would have liked to see the final state you left the road in.
I bet they used the D8 to clean it up.
T ft
@@rcairforceone grading a road is more complicated than pulling a blade over it.
I think he underestimated how much trouble it is to get the road right.
Are you guys hiring?
Yeah they pretty much just shit Canned that road as soon as it rains its over you cant just smooth out loose soil with a d8 and call it good It won't hold up.
Just a thought. On recoveries as this, one could make a sled out of plate steel. The friction coefficient would be reduced and the trip out would repair the road rather than damaging it.
Exactly my thought. Would've been way easier.
Would've been a hell of an expensive sled though 😳
@@Jutilaje
For real. I'm thinking people suggesting that haven't actually looked into what a plate of steel like that costs. Let alone what it weighs, and what a logistical nightmare it would be to get it in and out of there.
Makes way more sense to just make an extra trip back up with a dozer to blade the ruts back out of the road.
I would have dragged the dozer out sideways. Lift the leading edge about a foot and it would grade the road for you and you wouldn’t have 20 steel ribs on the bottom of the treads fighting you. Tracked vehicles like that have very little side bite and you could see as they pulled it out it kept wanting to turn sideways
@@austinmabry8462 well as an oilfield welder, I am familiar with steel prices. I am also familiar with the equipment rental and labor prices. Not to mention the headache of prolonged dealings with federal agencies.
Seems like HeavyD doesnt meet a stranger. Awesome that heavy equip folks are helpful to each other.
Where neighbors still helping neighbors and the fellow man... the old American way, needs to get back to the simple life... looking forward to next vid... awesome job as usual guys!
This is how its done world wide, America moved away from that and hired contractors to do it
Lol ok
That’s just Utah for you. One of the last states in America that helps their neighbors as family.

And very cool to make a point to explain the need to be responsible and respectful and put things back like it was, not just tearing stuff up and leaving it. 👍💪♥️🙏
Love the fact that everybody keeps on smiling no matter what love the teamwork
We are from South Africa and we think it's adventures to see such enthusiastic men doing it for a good cause 👍 would love to see this dozer running again. Great videos!!!

This channel has given us more than we ever expected. Pure unfabricated work and play. Absolutely love it!
Well said! 👍

I drove super tankers for the major Oil companies for 27 years and I tell ya; these guys are awesome! And I really like the positive attitudes. Its a lot of fun watching these boys get at it.
Dudes killin the UA-cam game. Amazing recovery. The dude knows what dudes dig. Simple math to success, provide content dudes like to see. It really is that simple, well with some editing skills or a hired editor. Heavy d seems his “ content mind “ was born for UA-cam.

Call for whatever y’all need fellas. We gotta D8R sitting at the ranch ready to drag some junk!😂
Thanks The Hughes
When I saw you fixing the winch cable it reminded me of one thing my dad(a safety engineer) taught me. Those saddle clamps on the winch cable will slip if not installed properly, and the way he taught me was the phrase "you never saddle a dead horse"... the saddle part always goes on the live side of the cable & the U-bolt goes on the cut end. he had seen & reviewed cases that had slipped causing major accidents.
great job on the recovery.
You guys are awesome I wish my dad was still alive to see this video but unfortunately he passed away in 2004 he was a heavy equipment operator for many of years he would have really loved it you guys rock man great video
So was my Dad, he also passed away in 2004, he would have loved this site. I do, it brings back so many memories. My favorite was mining crew had been layed off for winter and left for warmer places. He was on salary year around with another man to maintain buildings and equipment. He was doing maintenance on the Cat, and with no one around, let my sister and I drive it around and showed us how to make it spin with the tracks making neat circles in the snow! It was so exciting.
Similar here. My dad died young, but years ago, when I was living in rural Australia and a retired guy who lived a few farms over, so he was a "neighbour" from 20 km/ 12 miles away. Before he'd retired he'd been a truck driver of "low loaders" those extra huge low bed trailers that carried all sorts of mining equipment, including those 140 tonne dump trucks etc. Running from Perth, the State Capital of Western Australia and running to the North West of the state, about 1,600 kms / 1,000 miles. That's so far North in Australia that you can hear Indonesian CB radio coming into your car mounted CB ! Because he was driving oversize loads, even with escort vehicles they were only allowed to drive during the daylight hours, just when the heat was worst, for the humans, often in non-air-conditioned trucks and the tyres which failed often on the blistering hot roads. "Ken" was his name, a great old guy, and he would love to sit around talking trucks, tractors, equipment and such. By the time I met him, he'd already been retired for a few years. A lovely guy. He's been gone over 10 years now, but not forgotten. In retirement he drove a 4wd ute (US= pickup) and man could he back a trailer. I had him deliver to me some straw bales etc. When I commented he said about "a lifetime driving double-articulateds". xx
This is actually a really impressive recovery given your limited access, and minimal equipment. Props guys.
Limited equipment? They came out with tons of shit.
@@ryanturner3432 Lol. So true. "Yeah, and then we had this random neighbor show up and tell us that we can borrow his D8!" I love these guys, but to say that they have access to minimal equipment is a little bit of a stretch.
After the first dozer recovery with the track seized up, I thought it would be useful to pick up some 3/16 or 1/4 plate and make some "skis" that you could slip under the tracks. Should make it easier to tow and wouldn't tear up the road.
Working smarter not harder isn’t good content
I dont think 1/4 plate will do it.
@@joeprewitt2539 It would do it easily. It's all about lb/sq in. It would pull 10x easier that pulling tracks..
My Grandpa had a stone boat, used for moving all sorts of heavy items which/that wouldn't get moved without major eqpt. It was just inches high, stout wood with chain for towing.
Yea soooooo, 1" or 1.5" plate would work perfectly. If you could put the end of it in a brake and bend 2 foot 45 degrees. It would work even better. Don't forget to weld tow rings on it, or cut tow eyes in it. (Ret. Operating Engineer, 38 years)
Good job, glad to see some guys who don't quit because something is difficult.
I admire your tenacity, your git-r-done attitude. Where there's a will there's a way. You and the local ranchers made it happen, right on!!
Full restoration on that dozer would freaking awesome to watch lol
Way too much money and labor to restore that dozer. You could buy a working dozer for a lot less than it would cost to restore that one. At this point it’s just scrap steel, which is real cheap. It’s not sold by the pound. Steel is bought and sold by the ton. If it’s not usable it’s not worth much.
have seen these guys all over utah and are the most genuine group of people. great entertainers and alot to learn from them
🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄
You guys need a massive dolly that you can construct under heavy things so they can be moved, the type you see tow truck drivers putting under cars but on a massive scale. The one thing we have learnt about this channel is it constantly looking for bigger challenges. So knowing Sparks he would have two sets of wheels on a bogie assembly and then eye beams as the connecting beams between them. One set of short eye beams for when the rig is just being moved around and a larger set for when they need to be used.
Unbelievable rescue of a deeply stuck dozer. You guys made what was seemingly impossible, possible. Loved every bit of the rescue
It's the internet, so everyone's an expert... But trying to pull those loads straight out is just messing your gear up. You need an A-frame to pass the cable over, then you're pulling the load up as well as towards you. Makes a huge difference.
Great videos, keep up the good work.
They also attached the 5 ton axle to the small excavator. The winch on the back is attached to the frame, you want to attach to the frame, preferably the same leg of the frame to prevent warping but you sure as hell don't want to attach to the axle.
@@glenwaldrop8166 Or even better to the winch mounting!
@@martingardener90 Exactly.
But, none of that is as exciting as busting cables...gotta get clicks and subs somehow.
I run a D8R everyday at the limestone quarry. Lower that blade while you’re pulling will help keep you front in down😉
I'm 66 and I've been fighting cancer for 8 years that's why I say I'm on a fixed income But I'm ready to watch your shows again
That was great entertainment. Planning, problem solving, persistence, team work, outside help, all the qualities of a great recovery.
The old guy is wise and knows what he's talking about when he says you boys are crazy SOB's 😂.
You need to bring me along on the next one of these buried ones.
I think you would be amazed at what a little leverage can do.
I used to work in the oil patch, back in the day.
Would love to meet the crew 👍

Love watching these huge machines. Started with you guys on TV working your diesel magic. Can't seem to get enough.
You guys never..fail to amaze me...I know it's always possible with a positive attitude...and you're always showing your can do willingness...hats off to all of you..Job well done.!!
Just an amazing recovery guys! Iv seen kind of similar ones in the past from ww2 tanks and most were lucky because somehow the tracks still rolled. It sucks you guys didn't have that luxury. Much respect in your direction and keep the hard work and dedication going! 👍
I always enjoy watching your videos. The craziest stuff you can imagine for recoveries, moving large structures, and making it fun. All while still being safe. It's great to see what a real team of people who care about getting the job done (whatever that is and using their skills and knowledge to adapt and overcome.
Reminds me of my late father and i . Good memorys!
Job well done!!!
As a X Earthmoving Equipment mechanic, its as if I recall all the brake downs that I recovered.
Yellow machines
Horse power
Diesel and dust.
Sun burn
Mude
And painful muscles 👍👌💪
Damn… living down a long gravel road myself, I wonder what the end result looked like? I trust Dave did as he said and left it better than they found it. Hard to imagine the work required to fill those ruts, tho.. damn!
Yeah. They said they were leaving at the end of the video and the old blade was loaded and you can still see the deep ruts...Pretty confident they just left. I'm sure the neighbor took care of it, but still a bummer.

@@JustinLCecil way to just assume shxt 🤡
I was screaming "What are you doing to the road!" last video, and thought it would be soft and unstable after this. But I kinda remember they do run a grader over dirt roads from time to time, so I dunno?
@@basstrammel1322 a grader doesn't break the cap of the road which is what the stuck tracks did, even after they level this out those track marks are just going to sink below the cap and be ruts.
It's always been my childhood dream to play with all that big machinery.
Well go ahead and make your day!
