    11:20 these fish are like that. When I was a kid I went to Florida, and we had a saltwater canal in the back yard. Within five minutes my buddy hooked a massive drum that didn't fight at all until it was reeled fifteen yards in and saw the dock... then it bolted and broke the line like it was nothing.

    8:54 Level 19 Magikarp, release it quick before it evolves. Puts an ominous spin on the drumming. "Alright, let me get back on my anchor and Catch Another One!" XD Gotta catch'em all!
    Congrats on the awesome catch! And not flipping your kayak! Keep this up and you might want to consider an outrigger. 8)

    That black drum is some goof eating, I fish for those in SC but where I fish I’m normally alone & tie the Jon boat to bridge pillars . Very rarely do we get one that’s over 40-50 lb due to them cutting you off but on occasions if you hurry & untie to get him in open water then the fight is on.

  • @ultimatejay

    Nice fish- one tip my buddy taught me when fighting big fish in a kayak is to always keep your rod tip pointed toward the bow. This way whichever way the fish decides to go the kayak will turn that way. Not a good idea fighting huge fish off the side or back of a kayak. I caught a 200lb thresher shark from my kayak this way. It towed me for over 1.5miles. Try it next time- I guaranteed it will go much smoother and easier for you :)

    • @ultimatejay
      @ultimatejay 7 років тому

      It doesn't look like it- you should never fight a large fish perpendicular to your body/boat. Learn something

    • @EliasVFishing
      @EliasVFishing  7 років тому +9

      Yeah no idea what I'm doing here. Not sure how to turn a rudder on a split second with a fish running down tide in a ripping two knot current. And then it changes direction, hard enough running uptide of it in a fleet of anchor lines and boats.... I always learned giving the fish slack is the biggest mistake you can make. Turning towards the fish and fighting towards the bow at all times will do this several times. Sounds like it's going to take me years to keep the rod at the bow all times.... #googan

      Hahaha. I guess this is your only way of getting back at me, since I have you blocked on my Channel. Needless to say, EPF doesn't have room for any racism and discrimination. By throwing comments like this on social media, you are only tarnishing your own name, buddy. :)

      Hahaha. broooo...your answers are the best! Like...you truly understood the meaning of _"your name,"_ when I said it. Haha. I meant your reputation, dude! But hey -- if you don't care being known as a racist, then why should I care, right? :) And bro -- UA-cam is my part time job. I am a full time instructor for Mathematics and Physics. I teach on the K-12 level, and I have all background checks and clearances in order to work with children. So, needless to say -- UA-cam or not, I rely 100% on kids for my income, and I am proud of it. Helping the future generations in terms of science, mathematics, and fishing is my gig 100%. Tight lines and have a niceeee lifeeee, bro!
