The more I watch WML, the more impressed I am with John D. He is quick and smart, but also so good with people, especially the children who guest on the show.
I recently read about a story Backus liked to tell. He was working with Marilyn Monroe on a film. One day, she beckoned to him to come into her dressing room. Once there, she backed him into a corner, and said: "Do Mr. Magoo!"
A "bittle" later in the show. Ha, ha. John Charles Daly creates a personal portmanteau word: bit + little = bittle. How I loved the original WML! Look at the glamorous cocktail dresses on Dorothy and Arlene!
An interesting twist of fate is that 8 years after this program John Daly appeared in the very first episode of the Green Acres TV show which of course starred Eva Gabor.
If I were to go back in time I would LOVE to meet Eva Gabor. She has a very beautiful voice playing in roles such as Duchess in The Aristocats & Miss. Bianca in The Rescuers.
Eva Gabor was his landlady! On another show in the 60s Jim Bacchus was on with George Hamilton as the mystery guest who was also his landlord at the time. Coincidence!
My mother always wanted me to play piano like Joey Alfidi. He was born in Yonkers, NY like I was. He was two years older than I. He faded from prominence after his childhood, but took on the career of piano teacher in Belgium. Unfortunately, he died six years ago, in 2015, in Belgium.
I'm such a fan of seeing young conductors, as it's not the most common thing in the profession. I just read that Joey Alfidi passed away in 2015 at 66 years old. He went on to become a composer, along with his conducting and instrumental playing work. I'm sure he left a legacy that will, hopefully, be remembered for a long time.
Always thought Eva was the prettiest Gabor gal
Eva seems more intelligent and natural than her sister Zsa Zsa!

Joseph Alfidi (May 28, 1949 - February 2, 2015) He was an American pianist, composer, and conductor
RIP Joey Alfidi: May 28, 1949 - February 2, 2015
Amazingly Eva only got more beautiful as time went by. Delightful!
Eva was the talented Gabor!
Wow! I'm impressed with that boy's tranquil composure and self-confidence.
Rock and roll was here to stay!
Oh I just love her. Her voice is so wonderful. All I think of is Duchess from the Aristocats or Bianca from the Rescuers tho.

Loved Eva as the voice of Miss Bianca in The Rescuers

RIP Eva Gabor. Long overdue condolences to the family :-(

That boy had a great head of hair.
